My Hometown Narvik and some of the surroundings
Air-photos of Narvik.
View towards Narvik from Ankenes. Summer 2001. Beautiful, heh?
Picture is taken by Georg Rasmussen, from his house. Georg is the
the grandfather of my good friend Knut Ivan, and he was also my teacher once.
This is the surroundings of Narvik. Toetta-toppen (1500 m) is the
mountain to the far left and the Fagernes Mountain (900 m) to the right.
Picture taken by my good friend Torbjoern Nilsen Falch, Easter 2001.
NB! The mountain to the right only looks higher because of the angle
which the picture is taken. Toetta-toppen is a magnificent hike!!!
Telemark skiing in Fagernesfjellet. Narvik is at the foot of this mountain. I'm enjoying telemark skiing every winter. It's such a thrill! :-) The photos are taken by an acquaintance of me, Rune Dahl, who is a professional photographer.
Moerkholla (left picture) is also on Fagernesfjellet. Den Sovende Dronning (the Sleeping Queen) is one of the surrounding mountains of Narvik. It is such a good feeling when you have struggled all the way up - to think of all the great fun you will have going downhill after a well deserved break with hot chocolate, oranges and sandwiches, while enjoying the view. :-)
Vassvik (left picture) in Narvik with the mountain "the Sleeping Queen" (from above) in the background. Sunset from Fagernesfjellet (right picture). I wish everyone will have the chance to see this in real life some time. :-)
About 60 km outside Narvik you will find Efjord with its outstanding surroundings. Beautiful, heh?
This is Stetind in Tysfjord. To get here you are driving through the environment on the pictures above. It's about 90 km to go there from Narvik. Stetind's nickname is "the God's Anvel". This is a well-known mountain to climb in the nothern part of Norway. It is the most scary experience I have ever had! But the magnificent view from the top of it was well worth it!
This is the town centre in Narvik on the Norwegian
National Day 17th May 2001. Picture is from the web cam.
