Refugee and No War Banner Making Project

In December 2002,Paul and Phil encouraged  the Launceston People to honk for freedom for the Sarwari Family with their banner.

People Power
can achieve world harmony, click the harmony and respect banner to  embark on a journey of cross cultural awareness.

The Refugee Action Collective in Adelaide has initiated a community project which is worthy of support from any refugee or No War Group.

The idea is to obtain a roll of calico 160cm wide and as long as you like to make it.

Every four or five metres there is to be a feature piece of art, design, or comment. Then around those features will be space for comments, designs and signatures from the general public.

At any no-war or refugee event the banner will be rolled out with paints and big textas available for people to keep adding to the petition/protest.

Organisers  suggested that contributors  write big.The eventual aim is to have hundreds of metres /kilometres - long,as a great resource encapturing our protest.

The banner could be draped across buildings,
used to encircle  parliament house ,
for wrapping  politicians in ,
or rolled down the entire length of a city street or mall.

Any organisation holding an event could borrow and add to it.

RAC ADELAIDE plan to take it to the Baxter convergence at Easter
for further contributions.

In a matter of seconds  supporting banners could be stitched together.

Art galleries and libraries could build a display around it to record the social movement. The mix of hundreds of artworks surrounded by personal lay opinions, the sheer physical presence of a kilometre long document and art piece, makes
this  a petition the politicians can see again and again.

There would be a companion No War Banner.

THE FIRST EVENT FOR THE BANNERS TO BE AVAILABLE TO SIGN WILL BE THE NO-WAR RALLY, VICTORIA SQUARE FEB 16.
