He released his first album "Mind Of Mystikal" in 1995 on Big Boy Records. This album caught the ears of heads at Jive Records who signed him and re-released "Mind Of Mystikal" with extra tracks. It was from his war experiences that he got the idea to form the Boot Camp Clicc.
Mystikal made his first No Limit appearance on Steady Mobb'n's album, on the track "Its On".
He then featured on the "Bout It" soundtrack on "What 'Cha Think". In a Rolling Stone article, P explained why he and Mystikal have bonded so well and can relate to one another, because they lost siblings to murder, P lost Kevin and Mystikal lost his older sister Michelle. (Michelle appears on Mystikal's first album the chorus of the track "Not That Nigga".) Michelles’ murder is more complicated because she was murdered by her boyfriend, (Damion Neville, grandson of the Neville Brothers' Charles). Mystikal tells story of what happened on the track "Murder 2".
A true soldier, this No Limit Lieutenant earned his rank both in the Gulf War and in the War of Survival. "I remember calling my sister Michelle. I told her 'I'm about to go to war.' She didn't believe me, but by the time I got off the phone, I remember we were on the phone cryin'. I broke down. I was nineteen. I said to her 'I'm scared.' and she replied 'I know.' But then once I heard her cry, then I automatically felt like I had to be the strong one now." Mystikal (in The Source Jan '99).
"When I heard of my assignment to Desert Storm, I was like 'Is this how I'm gonna die. This must be it.'" Mystikal (in The Source Jan '99).
Mystikal came safely back from the Gulf War having gone at the age of 19, while Michelle was 24. However, on the day of his 24th birthday, Michelle was brutally murdered by her boyfriend.
