As with all breeds mixed or pure, Standard Poodles are affected with a higher instance of some genetic diseases. Those diseases include: hip dysplasia, sebaceous adenitis, progressive retinal atrophy, Von Willebrand's disease, Juvenile Renal Disease, Thyroid, Addisons, and Cushings.
Apart from the genetic diseases, Standard Poodles may be affected by a few health conditions that may or may not be environmental or genetic in nature. These are mainly gastric torsion, epilepsy, and allergies. Gastric torsion, more commonly refered to as Bloat, is a life threatening condition. First Aid and fast medical intervention are required to safely weather this condition.
