How can I learn words faster?
What kind of class should an SAT class be?
What should I learn?
How should I be taught?

Most kids don’t like classrooms.

Conclusion:
Don’t make your SAT session like school.

Teachers, do something differently…

Howard Gardner, a professor at Harvard University, has found that people can be tested in a variety of ways -- you can show your understanding through an oral test, through a photo montage, through... well, you can tell me how you want to be tested.

Eventually, parents and teachers and adminstrators want you to take a written test... Until then, let's learn while laughing...

What can you do if your teacher isn't interested in
continued learning
Your teacher needs a nudge or a hint if he or she says:

"I'm not good at math."
"I studied a language in high school.  I don't need to learn another language."
"Geography isn't my thing."
"I don't use cubes and blocks in my class.  If students can't read the textbook, they should repeat the class."
"Multiple Intelligences is an excuse for not doing school work."

If your teacher says these statements, then write WMD ISTOS  or WMD ISTU on the black board or on your notebooks or on a note and leave the note on the ground.   Then put
www.DemocracyBonds.com and click on "Flat Challenge."

Why is this web page called "Free SAT Lessons"?
1.  Because it has links to my notes that I give to my students who are studying for tests (especially multiple-choice tests).
BCC SAT        SAT     SAT1
2.  Because this is a set of free advice for improving teachers -- if teachers teach better, you won't need more SAT tutoring (so this is a free lesson, setting you free from more boring studying, so that you can visit web sites that will change your perspective:
www.BuildingInternationalBridges.com and DemocracyBonds.com
3.  Because teachers who are more aware of
Multiple Ways of Leraning will develop  Multiple Ways of Teaching, thereby making it less necessary for me to tutor students...  Remember, students need Multiple Ways of Expressing and Describing and Performing their understanding...
Reminder for Teachers
In a message dated 4/27/2005 3:04:28 PM Eastern Daylight Time,
Several teachers got me interested in how to teach visual and audio learners... if kids hate to take notes, then at least they can listen to the lecture a second time and learn more.  -- S.  McCrea

Then a parent named John scolded me:
(reminded me)
But kids generally do not take good notes! The problem I see is that the teachers need to teach the kids how to reflect on everything they said in class during the last 3 minutes of class.  Teachers who teach until the bell rings set themselves up so that the taught material will be 80% forgotten during the next hour.  No?  Thoughts?  -- John

My reply:
brilliant.... that is true.
For audio and visual learners, the kids can remember something if they have cues -- the teacher has to be able to make those notes "orally" with highpoints that the kid can remember.

to see a world in a grain of sand
(squeeze together fingers)
and heaven
(arch overhead)             in a wild flower  (opening fist)
hold infinity
(symbol of horizontal 8) in the palm of your hand
and eternity
(a long line) in an hour.  (point to the watch)

I got many kids to memorize those lines in one 20 minute class.
Do I usually teach to the bell?  Yep, and it's a bad habit.   Bravo for the reminder.   I'm posting this interchange on my teachers' web site...
