Lessons for Learning to Make Web pages HOW TO make a web page using www.oocities.org photoorder-- a lesson for students to develop fluency in language use. See examples of compositions using the photos from PHOTO ORDER |
Welcome to "Photo Order" END See the lesson plan: Title: "Developing Fluency with Geocities.com" Below are two examples of compositions that could be created by the students. Use of imagination is encouraged. Punctuation, spelling and grammar are practiced in this exercise. You can Extend the lesson by doing the following: a) get more photos from the PICTURES icon on the oocities.com editing web page. b) upload your photos You can use any 5 of the photos or you can try to use all of the photos. The photos with the words "Corbis.com" were obtained from the Geocities.com web site. The corbis.com logo should not be covered. The photos can be used, but credit must be given for the use of those photos. Composition One: The Adventures of Rudi and Steve You never know what will happen when two people meet. Here's a story about two people who shared an adventure in Fort Lauderdale. Rudi was a marketing expert from Switzerland. He wanted to improve his English grammar and so he decided to visit the beautiful beaches of fort Lauderdale. He went to a language school and he met Steve, a teacher who lived in Fort Lauderdale. Rudi and Steve soon decided that studying english in a classroom was very limiting, so they rented an electric boat. At the front of the boat was a clear curtain to keep rain out of the boat's interior. At the back of the boat was a glorious flag, Their first destination was a sculpture made of coral rock. It was located near the center of Fort Lauderdale. On the trip they passed a plaque, so steev asked Rudy to get out fo the boat and read the inscription. It read, "John D. Macdonald created a character named Travis McGee. Travis' boat, the Busted Flush, once docked here." At the end of their trip in the electric boat, the friends decided to visit Lauderdale by the Sea. They were hungry so they looked at menus. Here you can see them posing for the camera next to a French restaurant. Rudy had a very good time in Fort Lauderdale and he promises to return. Steve looks forward to another adventure with Rudy. Composition Two: Evolution is remarkable If you take five photos of different animals, immediately you can see differences that indicate the contrasts in the environments that shaped their physical structures. Animals that hunt at night with their eyes developed large eyes, like the frog.. Eight-legged creatures that developed longer, stronger legs replaced spiders that had shorter legs. Birds with longer hooked beaks succeeded in living in areas that had large shell fish and fodo that required special handling. Animals that developed whiskers, like the seal, can use the sensitive "antenna" to detect movement. Finally, creatures that walk upright on the rear legs appear to have mastered balance and become especially adept at discovering places to eat. Evolution is a remarkable force in nature and we can see its results of millions of years of selection today in photos like the ones on this page. |
