LOCAL ADVENTURES

Not all family adventures require travelling far afield.  We often enjoy weekends closer to home.
Sometimes things do not go as planned.  Here Nell takes a spill when the ground was misread.  Fortunately Land Rovers are next to bullet proof and she was back on the trail a few minutes later none the worse for wear.
Ian and Sean top off the crest of a ditch. Our goal is to tread lightly but on occasions a little shovel and pick action is required.
Nell takes a steep ditch with a little air as Deb and friends look on.
Long before he got his driving license Ian learned the finer points of off road driving.  Here he carefully negotiates a V ditch.
Sean is sometimes called upon to help Ian negotiate obsticles and assumes a vantage point on top of Nell
A few years later the other half shaft gave up the ghost and was replaced in the field.  Ian emerges for this repair the undisputed axle repair expert of the family
Nells first broken half shaft is extracted with the use of some chain and a HighLift Jack. Easy field repairs of the older Land Rover are why they are still the first choice for long range expeditions
Tom. not by choice,  shows the boys how to replace a head gasket in the field.
Ian and Sean helped rebuild Nell before our 1997 Belize expedition
Not all family adventures are off road.  Ian and Sean have had the opportunity to learn a number of skills from mountains climbing to scuba diving as well as Land Rover repair.  All of our endeavors seek to teach our boys self confidence and self reliance.
