*This story was co-written by a friend on the internet Suzanne. It takes place after Twisted 1, you have to read it to understand this one. There is NO X-files in this one.*
It started again. Six months after it ended the evil
returned to Hazzard. However, the Dukes had nothing to do with it this
time. Two strangers who never heard of Hazzard or met each other
before helped the evil return. During this time the Duke cousins were dealing
with Jesse's death for the first time since it happened and the fact
that Hazzard was very different. Rosco was now Boss of Hazzard and sometimes
sheriff. Luke was now running the family. He was the oldest so he assumed
the responsibility without a second thought. Plus his Marine training helped
him become a good leader. The Dukes were still young looking even though
the evil left six months ago. They continued with the normal human aging
process so they did not age rapidly like one would expect after losing
their immortality.
It was a typical Hazzard summer day. Bo and
Luke were driving to the Boar's Nest as usual to meet Cooter for a few
beers. Despite all they had been through, the boys were happy. Things
were starting to be like they always had been. The Duke cousins had convinced
themselves that a serial killer killed all those who were no longer present
in Hazzard anymore. As they drove along they sang the words to "Take
it Easy" by the Eagles. Suddenly, Bo stopped and stared straight at the
road ahead of him. A picture formed in his mind. It was the dark, stormy
night when Luke tried to kill him. It was a memory, very vivid of when
Luke threw him across the room and Bo hit the wall and cut his arm.
"Bo?" Luke asked. "You ok?"
Bo continued to stare ahead and rubbed the back of his neck. "Yeah,
I'm fine." Bo replied " I got that headache again."
"All right, then. See if you can hurry it up. I'd
like to get there while I'm young." Luke said.
"Cute" Bo said. He still was pale. He hated
having to lie to Luke but he could never tell anyone what actually happened.
For about the last two months Bo and been having flashbacks. They
were always about the night when Luke was totally possessed and almost
beat him to death. Sometimes they lasted seconds while other times they
lasted up to five minutes. It bothered Bo but the cousins and Rosco had
made a pact never to speak of the evil that consumed the town, of the sacrifices
and of how Enos, Boss, Lulu and Cletus died among the many others.
At a bus stop in Louisville, Kentucky the two strangers
boarded the same bus headed for the same place, Hazzard County, Georgia.
They both were young girls in their early twenties. Lexie got on
first struggling with her duffel bag. She took a window seat near the back
on the right hand side. As she slumped down, her dark brown hair fell in
her face. Kristina boarded soon after. She made her way back to where Lexie
was. Neither said a word. Lexie was listening to her walkman and entranced
by the view out of the window. Kristina picked up a magazine and started
to read. The bus made a quick movement as the engine started up. The bus
rolled out of the station, bringing the second wave of destruction to Hazzard
County.
The Dukes were sitting eating lunch at the kitchen
table. Bo started to have another flashback about the night Luke almost
killed him. He remembered Luke holding the sword to his throat. His face
went pale and he started to rub the back of his neck. He stared down at
his plate pushing the food around with his fork.
"Are you okay?" Daisy asked concernedly.
"Yeah I'm fine, I just got another headache is all."
Bo said not looking up. "I'm really not all that hungry. I think I'm gonna
go lay down for a while and try to get rid of this headache" he added getting
up and leaving the table.
Bo went and laid down on his bed. He closed his
eyes, and tried to forget the images of the flashback, but he couldn't.
After a few minutes he fell asleep and began to dream.
He was walking across the Hazzard countryside.
It was a beautiful day, there wasn't a cloud in the sky. Then he saw Luke
standing a couple feet in front of him, with his back to him.
"Hey Luke!" he called out and started to approach
him.
Luke turned around slowly and faced Bo, his eyes were dark black and
he had an evil smile on his face. Bo froze in fear, and his face went pale.
"Hello traitor." Luke said, his voice cold
and hateful, and he started to walk towards Bo.
Bo tried to take a step back but was frozen in fear. "Luke don't do
this... not again." Bo said, his voice pleading. "You can't be evil now,
it's gone... it's over." Bo said.
"You're dead wrong about that cousin. I should've
finished the job before. I'm gonna finish what I started this time." Luke
said, smiling evilly.
Dark clouds quickly started to roll in, blocking the sun's light. Bright
lightening flashed, thunder rolled, and the rain started to pour down.
"No Luke... please don't." Bo said his voice
shaking.
He managed to take a couple steps backwards, but then Luke lunged at
him, and was now just inches away from Bo.
"I should've killed you long ago, cousin.
You've always caused me so much trouble. I hate you. You ruined everything,
and now I'm gonna kill you for it." Luke said.
"No Luke don't." Bo said his voice pleading,
his body trembling.
He wanted to run away but couldn't move, he stood frozen in fear. Luke
grabbed him and flung him against a tree and pinned him against it. Bo
closed his eyes trying to block the image from his mind.
"Open your eyes, cousin." Luke said, his voice harsh
and demanding. "There's a few more people here who want to make you pay
for what you did." Luke said.
Bo didn't want to open his eyes, but he did. He saw a blur of faces
of all the people that had been sacrificed as well as all the people from
Hazzard that had being killed, they were all starting to close in around
him.
"Time to die, cousin." Luke said.
"No." Bo said his voice soft and pleading.
He tried to scream but couldn't.
Bo woke up, and sat straight up. A scream was in
his throat, but he held it back. He took a deep breath, his heart was racing.
He laid back down, he didn't want to close his eyes again for fear he would
see the images again. He really wanted to talk to Luke or Daisy about the
flashbacks he had been having, and about the dream, but knew he couldn't
since they had made a pact not to talk about it. He just laid there till
his heartbeat went back to normal, then got up and left the room.
After Bo had left the table Daisy and Luke finished
eating lunch. Luke went outside to work on the General Lee. They didn't
race him as often anymore, but they still kept his engine running and in
good shape. Luke was looking under the hood when he stated to have a flashback
about when he had told Enos to kill himself. He could hear what he had
said, and a wave of guilt swept over him. Daisy had come out to hang a
load of laundry on the clothesline, she looked over and saw Luke just standing
there, his face looked pale.
"Are you okay?" Daisy asked.
"Yeah I'm fine." Luke said and closed the
hood of the General.
He didn't feel like working on the General anymore. He went inside
to get a glass of lemonade, Bo was just coming out to the kitchen.
"Are you feeling any better?" Luke asked.
"Yeah the headache is basically gone." Bo
said not really looking over at Luke. He could still see the images from
the dream, and didn't feel that he could face Luke right now.
"That's good." Luke said.
Bo smiled but didn't respond, he went outside and sat on the General.
Luke decided to take lemonade out to Bo and Daisy so he poured two more
glasses then set them on a tray and went outside. He hand a glass to Bo.
"Here ya go."
"Thanks." Bo said looking over at Luke, taking
the glass, and smiled, the images from the dream had started to fade away
Luke went over and gave Daisy a glass of lemonade.
"Thanks, honey." she said, smiling as she
took the glass.
Luke and Daisy went over by the General. Daisy sat up on
the General by Bo and Luke leaned against the General. Bo soon forgot the
dream, and Luke forgot about the flashback. Everything went back to seemingly
normal. Bo and Luke headed into town to pick up a few supplies.
Kristina and Lexie had gotten off the bus
in Capitol City and went to a used car dealership to get themselves a car.
They got a dark blue 1970 Roadrunner. They drove off to Hazzard County.
Bo and Luke were on Mill road when they saw
a car stopped alongside the road with a flat tire, they pulled over behind
it and got out.
"Need some help?" Bo asked.
"Yeah we sure do, we got a flat and we have
no spare tire." Kristina said.
"Well we could give you a lift into town,
and to the garage to get a tire, and then bring ya back out here and help
ya fix it. How does that sound?" Luke said.
"Sounds good to me." Lexie said.
"Sounds good to me too." Kris said.
"By the way, I'm Luke Duke, and this is my
cousin Bo." Luke said.
Lexie smiled. "I'm Lexie Zloy and this is my sister Kristina"
"But you can call me Kris." Kristina said
and smiled.
Luke helped Lexie into the General and Bo helped Kris, then they got
in themselves. Bo sped off towards town. The boys picked up the supplies
they needed, then they stopped at the Hazzard Garage to get a tire for
Lexie and Kris's car. Cooter was just leaving.
"Hey Cooter, this is Lexie and Kris Zloy.
Girls, this is our good buddy Cooter Davenport." Bo said.
Cooter smiled. "So what can I do for you?" he asked.
"We need a tire for their car." Luke said.
"No problem, just help yourself I'll send
ya the bill later. Right now I gotta go out on a call. Catch ya later."
Cooter said, then got into his tow truck and drove off.
Bo went and grabbed a tire and put it into the trunk. They went back
out to Mill road and changed the tire for them.
"How can we repay you for your kindness?"
Kris asked.
"It weren't nothing." Bo said.
"Oh but it was." Lexie said.
"Don't worry about it. Look, why don't you
girls come back to the farm with us for dinner?" Luke asked.
"Okay." both Lexie and Kris said simultaneously.
Lexie and Kris followed the boys to the Duke farm.
Daisy was working on dinner when they came walking in.
"This is our cousin Daisy." Luke said. "Daisy,
this is Lexie and Kris Zloy." Luke said, motioning to each as he said thier
name. After dinner Lexie, Kris, Bo and Luke went outside. Lexie and Kris
were going to head off.
"Tell you what. Why don't we take you boys out to
lunch or something tommorrow...to repay you for your kindess." Kristina
said, smiling.
"Sounds good to me." Bo said.
"Yeah, sounds good to me too," Luke said.
"Okay, we'll see you tommorrow then." Lexie
said.
Lexie and Kris got into their car and drove off down the road. Bo went
back inside the house. Luke went into the barn to take care of a few things
while there was still a little light left in the day.
That hot summer night everything was calm
and peaceful. Luke went to bed a little earlier than usual because he was
worn out from all his new responsibilities. He drifted in and out of consciousness
for several hours. In his deepest sleep, Luke began to dream.
In the dream he was walking down by Hazzard
Pond which was a popular fishing spot. Everything was normal. He
just sat down to cast his pole and then he heard it. A voice he hadn't
heard in many months. It made him happy and sad at the same time. He looked
up and in the bright glow of the afternoon sun stood Enos.
"Hi there, Enos." Luke said like everything
had always been before the evil started.
Enos said nothing. He just stood there tall and straight looking down
on Luke with an expressionless face.
"Enos, what's wrong? Come on. Sit and fish with
me"
Enos remained silent and did not move. Luke began to worry. He remembered
how Enos died and a great wave of guilt swept over him.
"Enos, I'm real sorry. That wasn't me who
told you to kill yourself. I was possessed. I'd never do that to you, old
buddy. You gotta believe me."
"I know, Luke." Enos said finally. "But, it was
still you in a way." Enos moved closer. Luke had a bad feeling about
the situation and tried to stand to move away. He was moving in slow motion
and Enos was moving at the speed of light.
"Now, Luke, don't be afraid. I'm just going
to give you a taste of poetic justice. And why would a well trained marine
like yourself be afraid of good old Enos?" Enos smiled but it was evil.
A chill shot down Luke's spine.
"Enos, what's going on?" Luke stood up, dropped
his pole and backed away. The summer heat started to beat down intensely.
He felt like he was being suffocated. Luke started to run from Enos but
he was still in slow motion. His feet sunk heavier with each step he took.
Something in his head told him not to look back but he did anyway. The
air began to cool and the sun quickly disappeared. Enos turned into
a raging beast with dark shaggy fur, bloody mouth with saliva dripping
down, red eyes, and had grown to at least eight feet tall.
"YOU MUST PAY!" the demon formally known as
Enos said, throwing back his head and laughing. The laughter echoed around
Luke. Luke's mouth hung open. His mind was full of thoughts that did not
fit with each other. He ran... or tried to. All of Luke's worst fears started
taking shapes; dancing, running and pushing him around. He never felt this
confused and helpless. The figures laughed, pushing him to the ground.
Luke tried to yell but nothing came out. He opened his eyes to see the
faces of those they had sacrificed. He shut his eyes and looked back down
at the ground.
"Enos, please that wasn't me" he pleaded with
his voice cracking a bit.
"I know, buddy" the demon said. "But it's
your turn to suffer." All the figures moved in on Luke who had nowhere
to run. He tried to get up but was beaten down. Then everything went black.
Luke sat up in a cold sweat. He was wet all
over, shaking and breathing hard. He looked over at Bo, who was sound asleep.
He let go of his breath and put his hand over his eyes. Slowly he let it
come down. His heart was going a million miles an hour. He laid back, hoping
that would not happen again because he was not able to discuss it was anyone
because of the pact they made. Luke would have to deal with this
nightmare alone.
Over the course of the next week Luke and
Lexie grew closer, as did Bo and Kris. They spent every day together, and
went out every night. The boys were happy, although during those days they
were still haunted by some memories of the evil that had consumed them
only a few short months ago. They were happy with Lexie and Kris, whenever
they were around them they felt as though nothing was wrong, the memories
did not haunt them at these times. Everything seemed so normal, everything
seemed to be perfect.
The four of them were sitting in the car five
miles from Eagle Point. "I can't drive anymore." Luke said holding his
head.
"You shouldn't be driving drunk anyway, cousin."
Bo said from the back seat.
"Now what?" asked an also very drunk Kris
from the back seat trying not to start hysterically laughing.
"I don't know, sis. What... what do
you do.....here?" Lexie asked also quite drunk slowly sinking down in the
front passenger seat.
"Well... sit here, I guess." Luke said. "There
isn't much right now and we're all too trashed to do anything."
"Yeah sit right...here" Bo said pointing to
the seat and smiled.
"I have an idea. Let's check out that
place on Eagle Point everyone in this town is afraid of." Kris said
eagerly.
Bo and Luke involuntarily flinched.
"Uh...I... don't think that's such...um,
a good idea, girls." Bo said trying not to be overwhelmed with those thoughts
again.
"Bo's right!" Luke said. "We can always go
and cause trouble in Sweetwater county. Ya know start a fight or something."
"Oh come on, boys." Lexie said, sitting up.
"What's wrong with you two? I thought you'd be more than willing to go
to such a scary place" she said and shivered.
"From what I heard, you two are the bravest
in Hazzard County. Now I know they were dead wrong." Kris said.
"Right, sis!" Lexie said. "We've got ourselves
two chickens here."
"Who are you callin' a chicken?!" Bo asked.
"We ain't chickens. You are dead wrong, girls."
Luke said.
"Let's go then" Kristina said struggling to
get out the window.
"You're on!" said Bo and Luke together.
The walk to Eagle Point was about five minutes but it took them
ten because they had trouble walking.
"Up there," Bo said, trying to point
in the right direction "That's the place."
"It's really eerie up here. It's really dark
too." Lexie said quietly.
"There are so many stories behind this place."
Luke said. "Ghosts of murderers. Murder victims, demons, everything."
They made their way up the hill to the top. In the darkest
of the black night, they could just make out the giant shape of the temple.
Luke silently cursed.
"I thought it collapsed." Bo whispered
to Luke who just shook his head.
"Come on, you two." Kristina beckoned.
"Or have you gone yellow again."
"Watch what you say." Bo relayed with a smile.
They climbed the stairs of the blackened, empty temple.
"Hey, how about we split up and see what we
can find. We'll cover more ground that way." Kristina said in a whisper
as if not to wake the dead. She winked at Lexie who understood.
"Now that's an idea." Luke said holding Lexie.
"Sounds good to me." Bo said with his arm
around Kristina.
The temple was run down like it had been there forever. Luke
and Lexie found a secret passage that took them deep into the temple, just
about under the alter.
"Luke? Where are you? I can't see anything."
Lexie asked in a drunken worry.
Luke stumbled over to her. "I'm here. We'd better stay close
so we don't fall down or something."
"Sure, Luke." and she hit him sort of hard.
Luke laughed and it echoed through the walls and corridor. Even
with their candles it was impossible to see.
"Look, I found a door." Luke said.
"Check it out then."
"Alright. I will." Luke smiled and moved in.
When he got to the back, Lexie slammed the door shut behind him
and locked it. There was a little peep hole to see him.
"Hey!" Luke laughed drunkenly. "I'm a prisoner!"
He felt around the room to find it was very small.
Lexie said nothing.
"Lex?" a pause. "Hey, this isn't funny anymore.
Come on. What's the idea here?" Luke asked. He was starting to worry
now and the alcohol was wearing off. Lexie hadn't left him. She was standing
outside the door watching. Then she touched the amulet around her neck
and it glowed. She glared evilly at him as the alcohol vanished from her
system.
Meanwhile, Bo and Kristina walked through
the dark corridors of the temple.
"I just know I'm gonna fall over something.
Its so dark in here." Kristina said.
Immediately after she said that she stumbled over something and fell
against Bo.
"Don't worry about it, I won't let ya fall."
Bo said and smiled as he slipped an arm around her waist.
In the dim light from the candles Bo spotted a door. "Hey a door"
"Cool. Wonder what's behind it." Kristina
said
"Let's find out." Bo said and opened the door.
There was one candle lighting the room. It glowed brightly, shining
on a cobweb that was by the candle, along with a medium sized spider.
"I hate spiders." Kristina said taking a step
away from the room. "I ain't going in there. Not with that spider in there."
"Don't worry. I'll protect you from the spider."
Bo said with a laugh.
"No, I ain't gonna go in there." Kristina
said. "Not unless you go in first and get rid of that spider."
"Okay fine. I'll do that." Bo said going into
the room. He was just about over to the candle when the door slammed shut,
and the candle grew dim.
"Kris..."Bo called out "What's going on here?"
he asked. He tried to find his way back to the door but couldn't see anything
in the dim light.
"Kris, are you there?" Bo asked with a hint
of worry in his voice. "Hey this ain't funny, what's going on here?" he
asked.
The alcohol was starting to wear off his system and he began
to get very worried. He tried to feel along the walls to try to find the
door, but tripped over a small bench that was against the far wall. He
got up and found the door, but it was locked, and he made his way back
to the bench and sat down, he was very worried now. Kristina was still
there, she looked into the room through a small window in the door, watching
Bo. She reached up and touched her amulet, and smiled an evil smile. All
the alcohol had left her system instantaneously when she touched the amulet.
Silence engulfed the temple. "Lex?" Luke asked softly. "This
ain't funny no more."
"What do you expect?" Lexie asked with no
emotion in her voice and enunciating the words.
"What's going on, Lex? I don't understand."
Luke said still trying to adjust his eyes to the darkness.
"Remember the evil, Luke?" Lexie asked
still just outside the door.
"The evil?" Luke started to worry now.
He leaned against the stone wall at the back. He noticed that his tiny
candle was letting off more light than usual.
"I know you remember." Lexie started. "You
still dream about Enos' death."
"How did you know?" Luke asked in a whisper.
"It doesn't matter how I know. What you seem
to have forgotten is how you almost beat Bo to death."
"I don't want to remember, Lex. Don't
..." Luke started.
"Oh but you must. You have to. The past
isn't easily forgotten. You tried to kill Bo. You tried to kill your blood
brother. You tried to kill your best friend in all the world. You tried
to kill kin."
"Stop!" Luke pleaded holding his head.
The vivid, colourful images returned to his mind. He also heard laughter.
At first he did not know where it came from but then he realized it was
Lexie.
"Lexie, who the hell are you? Why are you
doing this ?" Luke asked. Before Luke's eyes, Lexie appeared on the inside
of the cell. She let go of her amulet which glowed brilliantly now and
moved close to Luke. Luke saw the amulet and a chill went down his back.
"You...you've got...the amulet!" He never felt more helpless than he did
right now. "Stay away from me!"
"Take it easy, Luke." Lexie said in
a soft, soothing voice. "I'd never want to hurt you." She moved closer
putting her arm around him and giving him a slight hug. "It's not as bad
as it seems." She kissed him on the cheek.
Luke started to calm a bit. He was not sweating as much and his heart
slowed down.
After a few minutes he felt better. Lexie had put him in a calm state
were he felt as if
nothing was wrong. Then her eyes turned black as coal. She sat back
from him. Luke
was staring ahead in front of him. She took her right hand and placed
it on his forehead.
"Remember." Lexie's voice grew harsher.
"No." whispered Luke but there was no way
he could do anything.
While this was happening, Bo was sitting on
the bench in a room not far from where Luke was. He sat with his head leaning
back against the wall and his eyes starting to adjust to the dim light
of the candle. He was quite scared. He wondered where everyone was, and
if they were okay. He hated being alone in the small, dark room. He tried
to think of anything except being in the room, or about the flashbacks
he'd been having or the dream. He was starting to worry that he might never
get out of the room.
Kristina looked into the room and smiled.
"You remember this place don't you? And about
the evil?" she asked, her voice dark and evil sounding. Her voice sounded
so different that Bo hardly recognised it.
"What..." Bo started to say.
"Of course you remember the evil, you could
never forget it." Kristina said.
"Leave me alone. I don't want to remember
it." Bo said.
"But you can't forget the evil, and how evil
you were." Kristina said.
"I don't want to remember" Bo said. "Why are
you trying to make me remember all this Kris?" Bo asked "Why are you doing
this to me?"
"Because you must remember. You killed so
many innocent people, people you knew from Hazzard even. And let's not
forget that your cousin tried to kill you." Kristina said. "He beat you
really bad didn't he?" she asked and smiled evilly. Bo flinched.
"No...it was all an accident, it wasn't...he'd
never..." Bo said his voice trailing off.
"It was no accident he really wanted to kill
you. He hated you and still hates you so much." Kristina said.
"No that's not true." Bo said.
"Oh, but it is true. He wanted to kill you,
he hated you so much. Perhaps you don't quite remember his rage that night.
You need to be reminded of how much he wanted to kill you." Kristina said
holding her amulet, which glowed brightly.
"What..." Bo started to say but was cut short.
A gold bolt of energy shot out an struck Bo. He could see everything
that happened that night Luke tried to kill him. He could see all of Luke's
fury. He saw Luke beating him, flinging him across the room, and holding
the sword to his throat. He buried his head in his hands to try to stop
the images, but to no avail, he could still vividly see the images.
"No stop... I don't want to see anymore, please
stop." Bo said his voice pleading. He could feel tears burning in his eyes
but he held them back.
Kristina appeared in the cell right in front of Bo and she knelt
down in front of him. The flame on the candle grew brighter.
"Kris..." he said looking up. "Why are you
doing this to me I don't want to remember..." he said his voice trailing
off as he noticed the amulet around her neck. "You got the amulet...get
away from me..." Bo said frightenedly. "Who are you? Why are you doing
this to me?." he asked his voice slightly trembling.
"Bo just settle down, its okay. I won't
hurt you, I would never hurt you. " she said as she brushed her hand against
Bo's cheek. Her touch had a calming effect on Bo.
"But...but I don't want to remember it, any
of it, I..." Bo started to say.
"Shhhh." Kristina said softly, then kissed
him. "Just settle down. It's not that bad. It's not as bad as you
think it is. You must remember the evil, you cannot forget it." she said
placing a hand on his cheek, then let it slowly slide down.
"I don't want to remember." Bo said.
"But you must remember. Remember the sacrifices,
all the people you killed. People you knew." Kristina said
Kristina gently laid her hand against Bo's forehead. Images of
the sacrifices began to come to him.
"No, please." Bo begged, his voice trembling.
He tried to block the images from his mind, but it was futile. He could
vividly see the sacrifices. He could see the victims' fear and pain as
they were being sacrificed. "No I didn't mean to...I didn't want to I...I
don't want to remember all of this." Bo said, a single tear rolled down
his cheek. "I never meant to hurt anyone."
Kristina stood up. "Never the less, so many innocent people died
because of you. Your Uncle Jesse would be so disappointed in you."
Bo's face went pale, he dropped his head and looked down at the
ground. Kristina smiled evilly.
"But then you've always been such a disappointment
to him. He never loved you. He only took you in out of pity, because nobody
else wanted you. He really grew to regret that. You ruined his life. He
was always having to get you out of trouble."
"No, that's a lie...it's a lie." Bo said looking
up.
"It is all true. He hated you. Just like your
cousin Luke hates you. You can never do anything right." Kristina said.
"That's not true...shut up. I don't want to
hear anymore." Bo said.
Kristina smiled and shook her head, then kissed him.
"Just settle down Bo." she said softly, and
brushed her hand against his cheek.
Bo began to calm down again. There was something soothing and
calming about her touch that actually made Bo believe that everything was
really alright, but he still didn't believe what was being said.
"No, it's not true...it's just not true."
"Maybe if you don't want to believe me, perhaps
he should tell you himself." she said then took a hold of the amulet which
started to glow brightly again. She placed a hand over his eyes. Bo closed
his eyes. There was a bright flash then Kristina vanished from the room,
and was once again standing just outside the door looking through the small
window.
Bo opened his eyes and saw Jesse standing
about halfway across the room in front of him. Bo was happy to see him,
he tried to say something but he couldn't find the words. His happiness
quickly turned to sadness when he saw the look of anger, disappointment,
and hate in Jesse's eyes.
"You are such a disgrace to the Duke name.
Because of you, so many innocent people died." Jesse said his voice filled
with anger.
"I didn't mean to, Uncle Jesse." Bo said.
"I regret the day I took you in. The only
reason I did was out of pity, nobody else wanted you." Jesse said.
Bo went to reply but couldn't find the words, he just sat there staring
at Jesse.
"You are such a disappointment, you can't
do anything right. You always got yourself into so much trouble. You ruined
everyone's lives, especially mine." Jesse said.
"No I..." Bo said, his voice soft and filled
with sadness.
"It's your fault I died. You let me die."
Jesse said.
"No, that's not true... I would never do that."
Bo said "I don't want to hear anymore, please stop... I don't want to hear
it." he said, a couple tears rolled down his cheeks.
"It is the truth, you must hear the truth.
I never loved you and it's all your fault that I died." Jesse said his
voice filled with anger and hate.
"No...please..." Bo said, his voice trembling
with fear and sadness.
There was another flash of bright golden light, and Jesse's image vanished
from the room.
Kristina stood watching, smiling evilly.
"What's the matter? Can't handle the
truth?" she asked.
Bo didn't respond, he buried his head in his hands staring down
at the ground.
"What else would you like see or have you
got the point? Nobody cares about you. Your uncle hated you and your cousin
tried to kill you. You are such a horrible person, because of you so many
innocent people died." Kristina said, her voice cold and uncaring.
"No more..I don't want to hear anymore and
I don't want to see anything else. Just leave me alone." Bo said, looking
up. His eyes were filled with sadness, and tears. "Just stop, please stop."
"You must learn to accept the truth, the evil
is still inside you." Kristina said. "Can't you feel it?" she asked smiling
evilly.
"That's not true." Bo said looking up.
The flame grew brighter, and the walls started to glimmer. A
loud buzzing sound filled the small room. The amulet started glow brightly,
and Kristina started to close her hand around it. The walls around Bo started
to move and close in towards him. Bo sat trembling in fear as the walls
grew closer.
"No...don't." he said his voice barely above
a whisper. A feeling of claustrophia came over Bo as the walls closed in
around him. "No." his voice trembling and barely audible.
Kristina stood watching, laughing evilly. The walls were just inches
away from Bo when the flame grew dim, and then the walls retreated back
to where they started.
"How did you like that?" Kristina asked.
Bo didn't respond he just sat there trembling, staring straight in
front of him. His face was pale.
"Oh, did poor Bo feel claustrobic? You poor
thing." Kristina said her voice filled with sarcasm, then she laughed evilly.
Bo leaned his head back against the wall, his body trembling.
He had gone from scared to terrified. The images and what had been said
kept replaying in his mind.
Lexie, up until now, had been kind in a sense
to Luke. He only saw images of the past and nothing else. She looked into
his mind and it seemed that his military training was helping him clear
his mind of thoughts. Luke looked up at Lexie who stood in the middle of
the small room.
"Who sent you?" he said in a low, commanding
voice.
"That's none of your concern, mortal."
Lexie added with the same low, commanding voice. "And, sugar, don't try
your mind games. I already know what you've thought and are going to think
next." She said very sweetly.
Luke put his head down and tried to fight off the headache he
was getting. All the mental strain was taking its toll on him. He began
to think of Daisy and whether she was worrying about them not coming home.
He worried if they ever would get home. Then he remembered Bo was somewhere
else in this cursed temple with that other girl.
"Where's Bo?" he asked.
"Why do you care about him?" Lexie asked.
"He's my cousin." Luke said.
"He's fine, but he doesn't have your
training to get rid of the same thoughts."
Luke looked back down at the floor. "So there are two of
ya. What are you going to do?"
"What do you think, Luke?" Lexie said.
"Evil never dies."
Luke could not handle this and lunged at Lexie. She vanished
and appeared behind him. "That's no way to treat a lady." Lexie
said with an evil smile."
Luke turned around and before he could respond, Lexie touched
her amulet and a bolt of lightening struck Luke. Luke yelled and fell backward.
Another image appeared before his eyes. It was Bo, but he looked
like he was in great pain.
"Here's your cousin, Luke. He's fine, like
I said. Why do you care how he is? You've forgotten again that you wanted
to kill him." Lexie said as she moved around the cell.
Luke just sat there unresponsive staring at the image feeling even
more helpless.
"Luke, can you even feel pain? Nobody
ever knows what you feel."
Luke looked up to her and said: "I've been through more than any of
them. I learned to hide them during the war."
"I don't think you're capable of emotion.
I don't even think you have a heart, a heart that cares." Lexie said.
"Shut up, Lex. What do you know about
anything?" Luke said. His head was throbbing.
"I know a great many things, Luke. Don't try
anything. It's best you don't." With that, Lexie disappeared to the
other side of the door. Luke held his head in his hands and wondered if
it was a dream or if he really was in hell. Slowly the candle grew dimmer
and dimmer until darkness consumed the cell.
"Luke." Lexie said in a soft, soothing voice.
"Luke, you are very tired. It's late, honey, why don't you get some sleep?
Everything will be fine in the morning. Everything is always fine in the
morning. Sleep. It's all a bad dream. Sleep."
Luke felt his eyes get heavier and his body relax. His mind
was free of any thoughts and he drifted off to sleep. Lexie stood outside
the door, silently laughing.
A few hours had past, Bo laid down on the
bench staring blankly at the door. The flame from the candle grew brighter.
Kris appeared and knelt down beside Bo.
"Bo." Kris said softly, touching his cheek.
Bo didn't respond he continued to stare blankly in front of him.
"Bo, look at me." Kris said softly.
Bo moved his head and looked up at Kris, but still he said nothing.
"That's better. It is now time to leave this
room. It is time for you to accept the evil back." Kris said.
Bo trembled at the thought of that. Even though a part of him
did not, a deep voice inside him was telling him that is what he wanted.
"It will be okay Bo. You will not feel anymore
pain when you come back. You belong with us, it is your destiny." Kris
said her voice soft and kind sounding.
Bo still said nothing and made no movement to get up. Kris lightly
kissed him on the cheek.
"Come on Bo, it is time."
Bo slowly sat up and looked at Kris. The flame grew even brighter.
He no longer had the strength or will power left to fight the evil off.
Kris smiled. "Thats better. Take my hand, we are going to leave
this room."
Bo smiled back at her and reached out and took her hand. A bright
flash of golden light flooded the room, and they both vanished.
Bo and Kris appeared in the temple's main room, by the alter.
Bo was now dressed all in black. Lexie and Kris stood a few inches in front
of Bo. Lexie held the book open in her hands and began to chant a spell
from it. The room was flooded in a golden light, a loud rumbling vibrated
the temple's walls, its sound slowly growing louder. Bo closed his eyes,
he could hear faint chanting surround him. Kris took a sword and placed
it on Bo's left shoulder. A bolt of energy flowed though it, a gold light
consumed Bo's body. Lexie then closed the book, the rumbling and chanting
stopped, and the room was again only lit by the candles. When Bo opened
his eyes they were black as coal, and he smiled evilly. Seconds later his
eyes returned to their normal colour.
The next morning came and everything was fine to Luke.
The only problem at first was he could not remember how he got home from
wherever he had been last night. He dressed and left the room. He didn't
even look at Bo's bed. He assumed that since it was late already
Bo was up.
"Morning." Daisy said as he walked into the kitchen.
"I kept breakfast warm for you."
"Thanks, Daisy." Luke said sitting down.
"Is Bo up yet?" Daisy asked.
"I think so. He wasn't there when I woke up."
Luke said.
"I haven't seen him at all yet today. I was
up really early too." Daisy said pouring a glass of milk for herself.
Luke sat there chewing. He was starting to worry. He faintly remembered
what happened but being drunk did not help.
"Luke, you're awful quiet." Daisy said as she sat
down.
"I'm just thinkin'." Luke said. He did recall a
dream about being in the temple but that was all. Suddenly he stood up
and threw down his napkin.
"Luke?" Daisy asked.
Luke didn't respond. As he walked into the living room he saw
it, the image of Bo in the cell in great pain from Kris torturing him.
He held his head and started to pace the room.
"Luke, what's going on?" Daisy asked, a little more
worried now. She got up and went over to him.
"I'm fine, Daisy" Luke said in an emotionless tone.
Daisy flinched. He had never talked to anyone like that. There
were several occasions but that was when….. Daisy stopped and she pushed
the thought out of her mind. Luke shut his eyes and he could see the temple.
It was sitting on top of Eagle Point and slowly growing bigger. Clouds
rushed in to cover the sun. The candles all re-lit themselves. Chanting
filled the silence. Then he heard it - laughter. It was Lexie... or was
it? The laughter grew louder and louder. It reached to the depth of his
soul. It echoed all around him. Then it was muffled and then it sounded
like thousands of people joined in. Luke started to pound his head.
"Shut up!"
Daisy stood there frozen. She did not know what to think anymore.
Luke opened his eyes he was still in the farm house. He was safe
but he felt dizzy and confused.
"I've gotta find Bo." he said at last. He
headed toward their room.
"He's probably out in the barn or ran into town."
Daisy said, following him.
"Bo?" Luke called into the room - nothing. He ran
to the closet and searched it. He searched under the bed and looked out
the window at the space below it. "Daisy, help me!" Luke said in an angry
voice.
Daisy remained mute. Tears started to build up in her eyes. Luke
was scaring her. Luke quickly left the room and searched her room.
"Why would he be in my room?" Daisy asked.
Luke looked suspiciously at her. He walked over to her slowly.
"There is something you're not telling me
, Daisy. What is it?" Luke asked in a low voice. Daisy just stood
there. A lump grew in her throat and tears stayed in her eyes.
"What?" she managed.
"You know where they've got Bo don't you? You're
in on the whole thing." Luke said anger rose in his voice.
"Luke, what are you talking about. I don't understand."
Luke grabbed her shoulders with both his hands and shook her.
"Where is he?" his voice was now loud and demanding.
Daisy started talking steps back into the living room. "I don't know…
Luke!…Stop" Daisy said through her tears. Luke pushed her away. He
ran around outside the house and searched the barn. Daisy stood leaning
against the back of the couch. She was shaking, crying and at a loss for
words. Luke had never treated her like that. There was something he was
not telling her but she could not figure out what it could be. Her head
was throbbing from all the stress. The door to the kitchen swung open and
Luke practically ran into the room. Daisy moved over to the fireplace where
she could keep a safe distance from her insane cousin.
"Daisy, where is he? Where did they tell you to
hide him?" Luke asked calmly.
"Who is they, Luke? I haven't seen him since last night when you two
went to the Boar's Nest. I'm so confused. Stop please, Luke" Daisy said
trembling.
Luke started to believe her but he was not satisfied. The laughter
started again. This time he heard a voice. It was soft and soothing.
"Open the door to Jesse's room." it said. Luke stared
at the door. Daisy stared at him. "Trust me. You must open
it." the voice said.
Slowly Luke walked over to the door. Then he remembered they
had locked it.
"Daisy." Luke said in a low tired voice. "Where's
the key?" Daisy did not respond for a second.
"We were never going to open his room." she
protested.
"Just give me the key." Luke said.
Daisy obeyed for fear Luke would attack her again. Luke took the key
and slowly turned the knob. Daisy held her breath. Luke stood with the
door to Jesse's room wide open as if waiting for something to jump out
and attack him. Then he entered.
It was dark and arranged the same way it had been that day, years
ago. Luke slowly walked over to the closet and opened it. There was a brilliant
flash of light and there he was. Bo stood before him. He looked like he
had been to hell and back; his hair was messed up, his clothes torn, and
he was bleeding from somewhere. Luke moved back a step with his mouth wide
open.
"Bo?" he said quietly. Bo said nothing but glared
right through him. Then he started to laugh. It echoed all around Luke.
Bo's eyes turned red, a flash of light crashed again and before him stood
Jesse and the beast from his dream. Luke began to shake. He could not remember
the exercise he learned to control his fear.
"Luke, what's wrong." Jesse asked in a soothing
voice.
Luke could not speak. He sat on the bed, never blinking.
"Well, I see you done a bad job at running this
family. You lost your cousin Bo. What have you done with Daisy that she
looks so bad. I should never have taken you in. I knew that mind of yours
would betray me." Jesse said.
"But…. I didn't…" Luke started. Tears started to
well up in his eyes.
"Silence!! You never did listen to me. I hate you.
The world hates you. Nobody ever liked you. We had to force them to. You're
a disgrace. The evil returned and it's all your fault. Everything
that has happened to this family is a your fault. You're a curse. I should
have left you in the woods to die a long time ago. You're worth nothing."
Jesse said and motioned to the beast.
"Uncle Jesse? Why do you say this? It can't
be true. No I can't believe it." Luke said as tears started to run
down his cheeks.
"Shut up, you." Jesse said evilly. "You have no
right to speak to me. Finish him Enos. Get him back for what he did
to you."
With that Jesse vanished and the beast moved toward Luke. He
couldn't scream or move. He was frozen in fear. The beast grabbed him around
the throat and squeezed. Luke felt lighter and darkness closed in, then
it stopped. He opened his eyes and nothing was there. The doors were still
open. He let out his breath and choked on his tears. A faint laugh could
be heard in the closet. Lexie appeared dressed all in black with
the hood of her cloak resting on her head. Luke just stared. Lexie smiled
evilly and pointed at him. The image of Bo in pain came back. Then she
disappeared. Luke felt ill.
He left the room holding his head. He looked up and saw Daisy. A chill
went down her spine. Something must have happened in the room cause Luke
looked awfully pale. She moved over to him. He hugged her for a couple
minutes.
"Stay here." he said in almost a whisper.
"I'm going to look for Bo. Just stay here in case he comes back."
Daisy started to cry. "What's going on, Luke?"
"Nevermind that. Just do what I say. Everything
will be okay, I promise." He kissed her on the cheek and left the house.
He climbed into the General and sped off. Daisy looked at the door to Jesse's
room. She sat on the couch and cried.
Luke's head was spinning as he drove from the farm. The only thought
that remained clear was to find Bo. He was still shaking and his heart
raced. The image he had seen in Jesse's room still bothered him. He kept
hearing some of Jesse's words in the back of his mind. Luke was not in
any condition to be driving. As he headed toward town he heard a voice,
it was Lexie.
"Luke." she said laughing. "You'll never find Bo
in town. Go to the old saw mill." Luke quickly changed directions. The
air started getting hotter and hotter. He was short of breath and delusional.
He kept seeing faces of people long gone along the way. He ignored them
because he was determined to find Bo. Lexie started to laugh.
"You'll never find him wherever you go, jackass.
He hates you. You abandoned him and he is suffering because of you."
Luke drove to the saw mill and ran inside. It was empty. He ran
and got in his car and started to drive. An hour went by and he kept
driving. He couldn't remember anymore where he was going and why. He knew
he was looking for Bo but the other thoughts made no sense.
Pretty soon he found himself back at Hazzard Pond.
It seemed eerie, like the dream he had about Enos. The summer heat had
cooled off and a light breeze flowed through. He went to take out his fishing
stuff. Fishing had always relaxed him. He sat down. Everything was all
a scary deja vu. He looked up quickly expecting Enos... nothing. He looked
out across the pond, the midday sun shimmered brightly on the water. Luke
tried to think of where to look next but his mind seemed blank, he was
unable to think of where to go. The sun's reflection on the pond seemed
to intensify the light, creating an almost blinding white glare. Luke covered
his eyes. When he slowly lowered his hand, the light was gone and images
came to him. Luke could see the temple; he involuntarily shivered at its
sight and he felt a cold chill down his spine. He was filled with fear
and worry. The scene changed, he could see a small dark room that was lit
only by a dim candle. The candle grew brighter and he could see Bo sitting
on a bench leaning against the wall. Then Bo moved, he was now looking
right at Luke. Luke could see that Bo's face was pale, his cheeks were
streaked with tears, and his eyes were filled with fear and pain. Bo then
spoke, his voice was soft and trembling
"Luke please come...you gotta come back...please
don't leave me here." then he clenched is eyes shut and flinched in pain.
He reopened his eyes. "Please help me cousin...please." his voice pleading.
His complexion went paler, he was so ghastly pale. "Luke please help me...it
hurts so much...please cousin I ...I don't want to die...please help me."
he said then closed his eyes again, his breathing seemed to have slowed,
his whole body trembled slightly.
The images left in a flash and Luke was once
again looking out over Hazzard Pond. He was shaking slightly. He was terrified
by what he had seen, he was filled with worry about Bo. He went and got
into the General. His hands were shaking so much that he cold barely turn
the key. He clenched his hands around the steering wheel and took a deep
breath. Luke knew that he had to be brave about going to that temple and
rescuing Bo. He silently vowed.
"Don't worry, cousin, I swear I'll save you. I won't let anything
happen to you, I promise I won't let you down." Luke could feel tears coming
to his eyes and bit them back. He loosened his grip on the steering wheel
then sped off towards the temple.
Daisy calmed herself down.
She didn't know what to do. Bo was missing. Luke was half mad. Uncle Jesse
had been gone for quite some time. She decided to call Cooter because he
was almost like family anyway.
"Hazzard Garage." Cooter said.
"Hey, Cooter."
"Hey, Daisy. What's going on?" Cooter said cheerfully.
Daisy sighed. "Things are real bad Cooter", she paused, "You think you
could stop by...Luke...Bo...Cooter?" Daisy was at a loss for words.
"I'll be right there, gal." he hung up the phone.
Cooter arrived ten minutes later and came in the kitchen door. Daisy
was sitting at the table drinking coffee.
"What's wrong?" he asked. Daisy looked up.
She was pale and her eyes were red from crying. "Everything, Cooter"
"With the boys?"
"Yeah" Daisy said. She looked out into the living
room. She saw an image of Luke in his madness then she continued. "Bo never
came home last night. Luke freaked out. I've never seen him do anything
like that. He...he always has remained so calm even when..."she stopped
herself, she was going to mention the evil and that was forbidden.
Cooter understood and just nodded.
"What else?" Cooter asked.
"He got frantic. He accused me of hiding Bo
and being involved with someone."
"Who? That doesn't sound like Luke" Cooter said.
"He said ‘Where did they tell you to hide
him?' He was so angry too...I'm just so scared" Daisy said and looked
back down at her coffee.
Cooter came over to her and gave her a hug.
"What else happened? He didn't hurt you did
he?"
"No he just shook me and pushed me away. After
he searched the barn he asked me again, then he wanted in Jesse's room...he
was in there about ten minutes. When he came out he was all pale. He told
me he was sorry and then left looking for Bo"
"Daisy, I think this is serious. Who
did they go out with last night?"
"Lexie and Kris. Like always." Daisy said.
"Those two have been acting kinda strange.
Well not strange but I sense something bad about them" Cooter said.
A chill went down her back. "I did notice that they both had
chains around their necks but I didn't see what was on them"
"I think we better check it out. It feels
like....you know" Cooter said.
"I hope you're wrong Cooter. Before we check
anything I need a nap. My
head hurts"
"Alrightee then, I'll meet you at the Boars
Nest in two hours, gal"
"Bye now" Daisy said and went to lay down.
Luke arrived at the temple a few minutes later. He climbed out
of the General, and stood staring at the temple for a couple moments. Dark
clouds started to roll in blocking the sunlight and there was a strong
gust of wind that sent a chill through Luke. He took a step back away from
the temple, his body slightly shivering. Luke didn't want to go into the
temple and started to back further away, then the images of Bo in pain
and calling out for his help came to him. Luke took a deep breath and then
climbed the steps of the temple and went inside. The candles in the corridors
burned dimly, casting strange shadows all around Luke. He stopped and closed
his eyes and took a deep breath, then opened his eyes and continued down
the corridor. A couple of minutes later that seemed like an eternity to
Luke, he came to the main room of the temple, where all the sacrifices
had taken place. The room was brightly lit. It took a moment for Luke's
eyes to adjust to the light, then he stepped further into the room. He
looked over at the alter and saw Bo was laying on top of it. Luke stopped,
his heart almost seemed to skip a beat.
"Bo..." he said, his voice barely above a
whisper and filled with worry, then he started to walk towards Bo.
Bo sat up, he was dressed all in black. He stared at Luke, his
eyes were cold, dark, and uncaring.
"What took you so long?" his voice was cold
and emotionless.
Luke froze and just stared at Bo, he had no idea what to say.
Bo smiled evilly and slid off the alter and took a couple of steps towards
Luke. Kris and Lexie appeared behind Bo.
"Bo...why?" Luke asked in dread.
"The evil was never dead, cousin, it was just
dormant for a while. It's not that bad, it takes away all the pain, all
the sadness." Bo said.
"That's not true, it consumes you." Luke said
taking a step towards Bo.
"Silence. It is not that bad, cousin. Let
it back into you. Join us." Bo said his voice cold and demanding.
"No, I will not join you." Luke said.
A sword appeared in Bo's hand. It was one of the swords used
for the sacrifices. Luke flinched when he saw it.
"I said join us." Bo said, his voice harsh
and demanding.
Bo pointed the sword at Luke and a bolt of energy shot out and
struck Luke. Luke stumbled and fell to the ground. He laid on the ground
in shock, not moving for a moment then he started to sit up.
"Bo, don't ..." Luke said looking up at Bo.
"I don't have to listen to you. You will join
us or you will suffer." Bo said lowering the sword towards Luke.
"Bo, you can't do this." Luke said.
"Why can't I?" Bo asked. "You tried to kill
me before. Don't tell me you wouldn't do this to me. This makes us even,
cousin." Bo said nastily, then shot another bolt of energy at Luke.
Luke fell back to the ground, his body slightly trembling in
pain. Images started to fill his mind, the images that Lexie had shown
him, and the vision he had in Jesse's room. Bo shot another bolt of energy
at Luke, jolting Luke's body. Luke flinched in pain. He opened his eyes,
which were filled with torment, and looked up at Bo. Bo stared down at
him, his eyes were dark and emotionless. He smiled evilly at seeing his
cousin's pain. Bo shot Luke with another bolt of energy. Luke could feel
the evil starting to invade his mind and take over his thoughts, its cold,
icy grip closing around his heart.
Bo bent down a few inches from Luke. He laid the sword
down on the ground. "Luke, cousin, join us." Bo said his voice soft.
"But..." Luke started to say. Bo reached his
right hand out to Luke.
"Join us cousin, it will end your suffering.
It will take away all your pain." Bo said his voice soft, soothing and
almost caring sounding. Luke looked at him.
"But...but." he said unable to find the words
to finish his sentence.
"Trust me cousin. Join us... join me." Bo
said. "After all we've always been a team, haven't we?" he asked smiling
Luke took a hold of Bo's hand, Bo touch was icy cold and Luke
shivered. Bo stood up and pulled Luke to his feet, he let go of Luke's
hand. Bo bent down and picked up the sword, and they walked over to the
alter where Lexie and Kristina were still standing. Bo handed the sword
to Kris, Lexie was already holding the other sword.
Luke stood just in front of the alter Kris and Lexie stood inches in
front of him, and Bo stood just behind him. Kris held the book open this
time and began to chant the same spell that Lexie had earlier. The golden
light filled the room again, Luke closed his eyes. The rumbling and chanting
started again. Lexie placed the sword on Luke's left shoulder and bolt
of energy flowed from it, a golden light consumed Luke's body. Kris closed
the book. Everything went back to normal in the room. Luke was now wearing
all black. Luke opened his eyes they were dark black, he smiled evilly,
then his eyes slowly returned to their normal colour.
The four of them went outside, and walked over to
the General. They all got inside and Bo drove away from the temple. Kris
sat in the front next to him, and Luke and Lexie sat in back. The boys
were now wearing the amulets, which laid against their skin under their
shirts. They sped down the back dirt roads of the county. They were out
on highway three and stopped. Bo parked the General in the bushes. About
five minutes later an out of state car went past. Bo reached up and took
a hold of his amulet as he watched the car. The car's engine then begun
to sputter. It rounded the corner from where the General was then its engine
completely died. Bo started the General up and went in the direction the
car went. He pulled to a stop behind the car. All four of them got out
of the General. Bo and Luke approached the car. The driver of the car was
a woman maybe in her early thirties.
"Got car problems?" Bo asked.
"Yeah, my car just up and died." she said.
"Well we could take a look at it for ya. We
do know a little something about cars." Bo said.
"Okay thanks." she said.
Bo and Luke walked over and looked under the hood.
"Well, your problem is you got a cracked distributor
cap. Our CB is out but we could give ya a ride to a phone to call for a
tow truck, if you want." Bo said.
"Yeah, thanks." she said.
Lexie and Kris got back into the car and sat in the back. Bo
was walking a couple paces behind Luke and the stranger, as they walked
back to the General. Bo raised his hand and closed it around the amulet.
The woman stopped walking and passed out. They carried over to the General
and put her in, then got in themselves. Bo sped back towards the temple.
Moments later they arrived at the temple. Bo carried the woman's
body into the temple, and laid her down on the alter. There was a flash
of light then Bo, Luke, Kris, and Lexie were all dressed in black clothes.
Bo and Luke held the swords in their hands. Their eyes were as black as
coal. The woman began to awaken, she tried to move but an invisible force
held her down. She tried to scream but couldn't make a sound. Outside,
the temperature dropped as a cool breeze began to blow. Dark clouds quickly
rolled in blocking the sun's light. Bright strokes of lightening flashed,
and loud cracks of thunder rolled across the sky. From within the temple
a low rumbling started, it sounded like a powerful engine starting up.
There was the sound of distant chanting that echoed through the corridors
of the temple, coming from somewhere unseen. The boys raised the swords.
Outside a bright flash of lightening lit the sky and reflected off the
metal blade of the swords. They then lowered the swords into the woman's
body. A golden light flooded the room. Blue bolts of energy flowed up the
swords from the body. Bo and Luke's bodies were consumed by the blue
light, the light that before had retained their youth, and was doing so
again. The woman's body burst into a golden flame that reached high towards
the ceiling. The flame quickly extinguished itself. There was nothing left
of the woman's body, not even ashes. The boys turned around to face Lexie
and Kris. Luke placed his sword on Lexie's shoulder, and Bo placed his
sword on Kris's shoulder. The swords started to glow blue, and the same
energy that had consumed both Bo and Luke, now
consumed Lexie and Kris, retaining their youth as well. Silence then filled
the temple once more, the storm left as quick as it had come. The four
of them turned and walked away from the alter, their eyes returned to their
normal colour.
Meanwhile, Daisy had gone to the Boar's Nest
to meet Cooter. She had just parked her jeep in front of the Boar's Nest
when she noticed the dark clouds on the horizon that were fast rolling
in on Hazzard. The clouds were large thunderheads that boiled and reached
high in the sky. They were such a deep black that, even though they were
just clouds, Daisy thought they looked sinister and a cold chill went down
her spine. She turned away from the clouds. She felt the temperature start
to drop rapidly as a cool breeze started, and the rain started to pour
down. She went inside the Boar's Nest. The Boar's Nest was quite empty.
There was only a small handful of people there. There were three people
sitting at the bar, the bartender and Cooter, who was sitting at one of
the far tables. Daisy walked over and joined Cooter at the table.
"How ya feeling?" Cooter asked concernedly
Daisy sat down quietly at the table. "Not much better."
"Have you heard anything?" Cooter asked.
"No. Oh Cooter, I am just so worried about
Bo and Luke, if anything were to happen to either of them..." Daisy started
to say, tears starting to form high in her eyes.
She didn't have to finish her sentence Cooter knew what she was going
to say, he knew that if something happened to either Bo or Luke that it
would be very hard on Daisy.
Outside the storm was growing worse, there was a
loud crack of thunder that shook the whole Boar's Nest. Daisy flinched,
the thunder had such an eerie sound like the thunder when...she started
to think to herself but pushed that thought from her mind.
"This storm just came outta nowhere." Cooter
said.
Daisy nodded in agreement.
"I hope the boys are okay." she said barely
above a whisper, not even loud enough for Cooter to hear her.
"Do you want to talk about what happened?"
Cooter asked.
Daisy took a deep breath then told Cooter what had happened.
"Really, that don't sound like Luke at all."
Cooter said.
"I know, that is why I am so worried. Could
you please help me find Bo and Luke?" Daisy asked.
"Of course I'll help ya find them. We'd better
wait though till this storm is over, wouldn't do much good to go out in
it." Cooter said. Daisy gave a small smile.
"Thanks Cooter. I really appreciate it."
Cooter smiled back. "No problem."
They both just sat there quietly after that
and listened to the storm raging outside. The storm was over. Daisy and
Cooter got up from the table and started to walk toward the door when Luke,
Bo, Kris, and Lexie walked in. Daisy and Cooter stood surprised for a moment
then Daisy rushed over and hugged Bo.
"Bo, you're okay." Daisy said happily.
"Yeah I'm fine. Why wouldn't I be?" Bo asked.
"Well because earlier Luke..."Daisy started
to say.
"Oh that, well Luke was just out of his mind,
what else is new with that?" Bo said. Luke gave Bo a look of "cute" and
Bo just laughed.
"Luke was just hung over from being so drunk
last night I guess he forgot that I told him I was spending the night with
Kris." Bo said.
"Yeah." Luke said in agreement.
"Oh." Daisy said, thinking there had to be
more to it then that. Luke was acting so crazy it couldn't have just been
he was hung over. Then she looked over at Lexie and Kris, and noticed their
chains. A fearful look spread over her face.
"What is on your chains?" she asked accusingly.
"What?" both Lexie and Kris asked at the same
time.
"I asked you what is on your chains." Daisy
said. There was a note of demanding in her voice.
"Nothing, they are just plain gold chains."
Lexie said.
"I don't believe you, prove it." Daisy said.
"Daisy, what is all this about?" Bo asked.
Daisy didn't respond, she just stared at Lexie and Kris, who
took their chains out and showed them to Daisy. There was nothing on the
chains.
"But..." Daisy started to say.
"Are you trying to accuse them of something?
That ain't very nice." Bo said his voice sounded cold.
"It's just that...I just...." Daisy started
to say.
"Just what? How dare you accuse them of anything.
Apologize now. "Bo said his voice was cold and dark.
Daisy flinched. She could never remember Bo talking that way,
ever, even before with everything that had happened he never talked that
way. Without thinking she took a couple steps back away from Bo. She looked
at him, she thought his eyes looked almost black as he stood watching her,
his gaze was cold and uncaring.
"Sorry." she said, glancing over at Lexie
and Kris.
"Well I don't think we are gonna stick around
here any longer." Bo said.
Luke, Lexie, and Kris turned and walked out the door. Bo stopped and
put his hand against Daisy's cheek. She wanted to pull away, his touch
was icy cold, and she actually feared it. "Now it wasn't very nice to go
accuse Lexie and Kris like that. Not nice at all." Bo said, his voice dark
and cold.
"I'm sorry, Bo." Daisy said, tears starting
to fill her eyes. She felt afraid of Bo and started to shiver.
Bo just smiled, however there was nothing friendly about it at
all. Bo's eyes grew dark and Daisy became unaware of everything else around
them.
"Daisy don't be afraid. I would never hurt
you. You know that. This doesn't concern you at all. Why don't you just
go back to the farm. Just forget anything ever happened, cause nothing
did. Everything is fine, everything is normal. Just go home Daisy." Bo
said. His voice was deep, dark and uncaring sounding. Daisy nodded.
"Yeah everything is fine, everything is normal."
Bo pulled away from Daisy, his eyes their normal colour. "See
ya later."
"Yeah, okay, bye." Daisy said as Bo left the
Boar's Nest.
Cooter stood looking confused. "What was all that about?"
"Nothing. Everything is fine Cooter. I'm going
back to the farm now." Daisy said and turned and left.
Cooter stood for a couple moments trying to figure out what was
going on, then went after Daisy.
Bo joined Luke, Lexie and Kris, on the rise that over looked
The Boar's Nest.
"Well is Daisy gonna be a problem?" Luke asked.
Bo shook his head.
"No she won't be a problem at all. Nothing
to worry about there, cuz."
"What about Cooter?" Luke asked.
"He shouldn't be no problem. But if he gets
in the way or causes any problems we'll just have to take care of him,
like anyone else who dares get in our way." Bo said, watching as Cooter
drove towards the Duke farm, after Daisy. Then Bo and Luke reached up and
touched their amulets and there was a flash of light and the four of them
were transported back to the temple.
Daisy pulled to stop in front of the farm about 10 minutes later,
Cooter following close behind.
"Daisy, are you okay?" Cooter asked concernedly.
"Yeah I'm fine. Everything is fine there is
nothing wrong." Daisy said.
"Yeah but..." Cooter said following Daisy
into the front room.
"But what, Cooter? Everything is fine." Daisy.
Cooter stood watching Daisy trying to figure out what was going
on. He figured something had to be going on for her mood to change so sudden
like that.
Daisy moved around the front room, she was smiling and acting
like nothing was wrong, and that nothing had happened earlier. Then she
stopped, and was looking at the door to Jesse's room, it hung open a crack.
She stood staring at the door, the smile quickly fled her face, in its
place: a look of dismay. Tears started to form in her eyes and slowly flow
down her cheeks. She turned and looked at Cooter.
"Everything is not okay, is it?"
Cooter shook his head. "Not hardly."
Daisy went over by Cooter who hugged her for a couple moments
until her tears stopped. She took a step back from Cooter.
"Everything is anything but okay. What is going on?"
"I don't know...but I think maybe we should
go up to Eagle Point..."Cooter said not finishing his sentence. Daisy knew
what he meant though.
"Do you think that....but it was destroyed."
"Yeah but maybe this just has something to
do with that." Cooter said. Daisy bit back the tears she could feel burning
in her eyes.
"I thought it was over though, I thought it
could never come back."
"So did I but I think it would be best if
we went to check it out." Cooter said.
Daisy nodded. "Yeah I think that you are right."
They went out and got into Cooter's tow truck and headed off
towards Eagle Point. They both hoped that they were wrong about what they
were thinking.
Bo stood by the alter looking through the
book for a spell. Luke stood a couple of feet away from him, on his right.
Lexie and Kris stood a few feet behind the both of them. Then Bo laid the
book down on the pillar. He glanced over the spell again, then took out
his pocket knife, and slit the palm of his right hand open. then rubbed
his hand all over the top of the alter, smearing his blood all over it.
Then he reached up and took ahold of his amulet. He closed his eyes, the
amulet began to glow a brightly, then Bo's hand was consumed with a golden
light. After a few seconds the amulet stopped glowing. Bo opened his eyes
and lowered his hand. The cut had been completely healed. Luke, Kris and
Lexie stood silently as they watched Bo preform the spell. Bo started to
recite the spell from the book. Outside the sky grew red and dark, ominous
clouds started to form in the sky. Bolts of lighting streaked across the
blood-coloured sky, followed instantaneously by a loud crack of thunder.
The whole temple started to vibrate.
Cooter pulled to a stop in front of the temple.
They both just sat staring fearfully at the temple. Neither spoke a word.
They knew they had to go inside, they knew that Bo and Luke were in danger.
They looked up at the storm. Daisy shuddered, Cooter placed a hand on her
shoulder to comfort her, then they made their way inside the temple. They
were just inside the temple, when hail started to beat down. The hail stones
were about the size of a quarter. They were not the normal colour either,
they were a deep crimson red. The wind started to pick up, bending the
trees, and rain started to pour down. Daisy and Cooter looked out of the
temple, and couldn't even see Cooter's truck, which was parked only a few
feet away. They then turned and began to make their way deeper into the
temple. They reached the entrance and the sight froze Daisy in terror.
She saw Bo and Luke standing there dressed in all black. Bo was reciting
a spell from the book, she could hear the evil in the words. His voice
was dark, cold and emotionless as he recited the spell. The alter glowed
a deep golden colour, that reflected off every wall consuming everything
and everyone in the room. The candles burned in pure red flame.
Daisy started to shake, her eyes filled with tears.
"Oh Cooter...it is too late, the...evil is
back...and it has Bo and Luke." Daisy said her voice shaking filled with
fear and grief. Cooter stood watching, also in fear. He put his arm around
Daisy's shoulder.
"It may not be too late. We have to try to
stop Bo from finishing the spell."
"What good would that do?" Daisy asked never
taking her eyes off what was happening in the room.
"I think it would help, I just got the feeling
I can sense the spell is pure evil, if we stop him from completing the
spell perhaps we can save them." Cooter said trying to hide the fear in
his voice.
"Do you think we can stop it?" Daisy asked.
"We have to try." Cooter said.
Daisy took a deep breath and nodded. "Okay I am ready."
The two of them moved into the room un-noticed by anyone. Daisy
made her way to the pillar that held the book. Cooter was a few feet behind
her. Daisy tore the page from the book and flung it into the flame and
slammed the book shut. Everything returned to normal in the room, everyone
came out of the trance they were in.
"How dare you interfere, mortal." Bo said.
His voice was so dark that Daisy barely even recognized it.
She was filled with fear, unable to speak or move. Bo stared
at her, his eyes black as coal, filled with hatred. Luke, Kris and Lexie,
just stood there watching the confrontation between Bo and Daisy. They
didn't notice Cooter, who had snuck around to the far side of the pillar.
He picked up the book and flung it into the cauldron, the book was engulphed
by the flame. The spell that had been over Lexie and Kris was broken, they
stood there looking shocked and bewildered. The spell over Luke was also
broken. He removed his amulet and laid it down on the alter. However, the
evil did not lose its hold on Bo, if anything it seemed to tighten its
grip on him. Bo glared at Cooter, he held his amulet and a powerful gust
of wind came out of nowhere and flug Cooter across the room. He hit the
wall and landed over by Lexie and Kris. They bent down to be sure he was
okay. Cooter just had the wind knocked out of him.
"Bo..." Luke started to say. Bo just glared
at Luke coldly .
"Silence traitor. I care not what you have
to say."
In a quick movement Bo picked up Luke's half of the amulet and
slid it around his neck, and connected the two halves. There was a brilliant
almost blinding flash of light as the two halves joined. Luke and Daisy
stared fearfully and worriedly at Bo. Bo looked over at Daisy.
"How dare you interfere with the spell mortal.
That was not a wise thing do, dear cousin." Then Bo raised his hand towards
Daisy and a bolt of energy shot out and struck her. She was flung against
the same wall that Cooter had been earlier. Cooter bent down beside her
and helped her sit upright. Her youth had been taken away. Daisy sat there
shaking with fear, as she watched Bo. Cooter put his arm around her. Luke
moved towards Bo.
"You can't do this Bo." Luke said.
"Oh, and why can't I?" Bo asked.
"Because this ain't like you. Don't let this
evil consume you like this." Luke said.
"Silence! I do not have to listen to you,
cousin. You are nothing more then a mere mortal. I am a whole lot more.
I have more power now then you could even begin to imagine." Bo said coldly.
"Bo, you have to fight this evil." Luke said
his voice filled with worry. He was also filled with fear but tried to
keep it hidden. Mostly he was just worried about Bo he didn't want to lose
Bo to the evil.
"I don't gotta do nothing." Bo said. His eyes
began to grow even darker, as he closed his hand around the amulet. A gold
light filled the room, and a strong wind blew through the room. There was
a loud rumbling. Luke, Lexie, Kris, Daisy and Cooter were all transported
out of the temple, landing a couple feet away from the temple stairs. The
storm was over but the sky remained a deep, blood red. Luke was the first
the get up and he made his way back towards the temple, he was determined
to save Bo.
Then a beast appeared atop the stairs. It was the size of a large
full grown male grizzly bear, as it sat upon its haunches. It was covered
in long black shaggy fur. On its huge paws were long curved claws.
It snarled at them and showed its long, sharp glistening teeth. It stared
at them with its narrow slit eyes, that were crimson red in colour. It's
short, pointed ears laid back against its large skull. It started to growl,
the sound of which was eerie.
Cooter put a hand on Luke's shoulder and pulled him back. "I
don't think you can just walk past that beast."
"There has to be a way to get inside...there
has to be away to save Bo." Luke said.
"Well we need a plan or something, we can't
just go barging in. I don't think that would do us...or Bo any good." Cooter
said.
Lexie and Kris still had looks of bewildered looks on their faces.
They both felt really bad about their roles in aiding the evil's return
to Hazzard. They both stood silently staring at the temple as though unable
to believe anything that was going on.
Lexie then spoke. "Look I am really sorry about...about everything
I did."
"So am I." Kris said.
Luke just looked over and them. "It's okay. I know it wasn't
y'alls fault. I do understand what made you do what you did." Luke said
sincerely. He really did understand, and knew it wasn't their fault. He
knew first hand the power the evil had over one's mind, and that when the
evil possessed you, you had no control over your actions.
They made their way over to Cooter's tow truck.
"Maybe we should go get some arrows or a gun
or something, to try to get rid of that beast." Luke said glancing back
at the beast which sat as a guardian of the temple.
"We would like to help you get Bo back." Kris
said.
"And destroy this evil." Lexie added.
"Thanks." Luke said.
Then they all got into Cooter's truck and made their way to the
Duke farm, to come up with a plan to get rid of the beast, destroy the
evil, and save Bo.
Bo stood beside the alter unblinking. His eyes were a deep, dark
black, filled with hatred. He had his right hand closed tightly around
the amulet, and he stared at the fire. Then slowly the book began to rise
out of the fire. Its cover was tarnished with soot and ash, and the pages
were burned and the spells were no longer legible. It took about ten minutes
for the book to rise out of the flames. Then it settled to rest on top
of the alter. Bo stared at the book, his hand still around the amulet.
The book then started to glow, a low rumbling could be heard. After about
another ten minutes the book had been repaired. Its cover and pages looked
as though they had not been burned by fire, the book was completely untarnished.
Then the book floated back to its place on the pillar. Bo dropped his hand
from the amulet. His eyes were still black, but were a lighter black, closer
to the normal shade of deep blue that his eyes truly were. The restoration
of the book had taken quite a toll on Bo, and his whole body dully ached,
it left him quite exhausted. He leaned against the alter and closed his
eyes, he drew power from the amulet. There was an evil power that flowed
through the alter, it slowly started to restore Bo's strength.
At the Duke farm Luke went out to the barn
and got a bow, some arrows, and supplies for making dynamite. He took them
inside and set them on the table. There were ten arrows, they turned half
of them into dynamite arrows. Everyone worked in silence. Both Lexie and
Kris could remember what they had done to Bo and Luke while the evil possessed
them and they felt real bad about it. They both blamed themselves for what
was happening to Bo. They felt it was their fault that this evil had returned
to Hazzard and repossessed Bo and Luke. Daisy and Cooter realised their
thoughts were only half right before about Lexie and Kris. They didn't
blame them for what had happened and what was happening. They knew that
Lexie and Kris had been possessed by the evil and it wasn't really their
fault, they could not control their actions. Daisy kind of understood what
it was like being possessed by the evil, and felt no anger towards Lexie
or Kris, only felt anger towards the evil. Luke understood it more about
why Lexie and Kris did what they did, as he was also fully possessed by
the evil, and did things that would haunt him the rest of his life. Luke
moved silently in to the front room as everyone else was packing the arrows
into Cooter's truck and Dixie. They decided they may need two vehicles.
Luke looked at a picture that was sitting on the mantel of the fireplace.
It was of him, Daisy and Bo. The picture had been taken about a month before
Jesse had died, they all looked so happy. He looked at the pictures and
smiled at the thoughts of the way things once had been. Back at a time
before the evil had ever come to Hazzard, when everything was perfect and
everyone was happy. A single tear rolled down his cheeks, he felt a hand
on his shoulder and he turned around. Daisy stood there.
"Are you okay?" Daisy asked concernedly.
"Yeah I'm fine. Just thinking is all." Luke
said.
Daisy saw the picture and felt tears start to form in her eyes,
she held them back though. "I just wish that things could be that
way again." she said softly.
Luke nodded. "I know what you mean."
Daisy hugged Luke, she couldn't hold back the tears any longer.
Luke put his arm around her. "Don't worry everything is gonna be okay.
We will get Bo back."
Daisy stopped crying and then went outside with everyone else.
Luke went to put the picture back, when a voice in his mind told him to
bring the picture with him. He trusted that voice, he slid the picture
out of the frame and carefully folded the picture and slid it into his
pocket. Then he went outside to join everyone else. Cooter went in his
tow truck and Luke, Daisy, Lexie and Kris went in Dixie.
At the temple Bo had started to regain the
strength he had lost from restoring the book. The flame by the alter seemed
larger then normal. Bo's eyes where back to a very deep dark black as he
stood staring at the fire. From the fire came a deep voice that was extremely
evil sounding.
"They are coming to destroy you. They don't
think you deserve such power. They want to take it all away from you. They
want to kill."
"What should I do?" Bo asked.
"You must take care of them. You must eliminate
them." the voice said. As it spoke the flame grew larger.
"Where are they now?" Bo asked.
The flame changed to a golden colour, then Bo could see them
headed towards the temple. They were on Ridge road, about five minutes
away from the temple. Bo closed his hand around the amulet.
"I will take care of them." he said in a voice
barely above a whisper. The sound of an engine starting up filled the temple,
then the General appeared in front of the temple, reeving its engine. "They
are on Ridge road. Run them off the road, but do not kill them. Leave that
to me." Bo spoke his voice dark and very evil sounding. Then the General
sped off towards Ridge road.
Luke was driving Dixie, and Cooter was following close behind.
Cooter glanced into the rear view mirror and saw the General quickly closing
in, and noticed their was nobody driving the car. He grabbed the CB.
"Hey y'all we got us some company, and I don't
think its friendly."
Luke glanced in the side mirror and saw the General fast approaching.
The General then slammed into the back end of Cooter's truck. Luke picked
up the CB. "Okay I see him Cooter, I'm gonna drop back and try to
run the General off the road."
"Okay Lukas Dukas, you do that, just hurry
up or it will be me that gets runned off the road."
Luke dropped back and went alongside the General, then slammed
into the side. They were approaching a sharp corner. Luke grabbed the CB.
"Hey Cooter once you hit the corner slam on the brakes I got an idea on
how to get the General off of us."
"Whatever you say." Cooter responded.
Cooter hit the brakes on the corner. The General went to speed
up to ram his stopped vecihcle when Luke slammed into the side of the car,
and knocked it off the road. The General flew into the air off the side
of the road and landed in the pond. Then they sped off towards the temple.
Bo had been watching what was happening in the flame.
"Dang it. How did they get past the
General like that?"
The flame returned to its normal colour.
"They must not be allowed to enter this temple.
If they do they will destroy you." the voice spoke once again.
"They will not past the guardian." Bo spoke,
then closed his hand around the amulet once more. "When they reach the
temple I want you to kill all of them, except for my cousin Luke. I want
to finish him off myself."
Outside the guardian howled, in acceptance of its orders to kill
the intruders, except the one, which was to be left alive for its master
to destroy.
Luke, Daisy, Lexie, Kris, and Cooter where only about a minute
from the temple when they heard the howl of the beast. The howl was so
icy and evil sounding it sent a chill down each of the backs. They pulled
to stopped in the bushes in front of the temple, just out of the guardian's
view. A cool breeze blew through the trees and the guardian started to
growl and move down the steps of the temple towards the bushes. Luke figured
to draw the beasts attention away. He moved silently into the nearby bushes
on the right. The he took out one of the dynamite arrows and shot it at
the beast. At the last second the beast made a lunge forward and the arrow
missed the beast. It was going to hit the temple when it exploded in mid
air. The beast looked over at Luke, its eyes glared evilly at him. Luke
felt a chill go down his back. Then the beast turned its attention away
from Luke and back towards everyone else. The beast lunged into the bushes,
Cooter, Daisy, Lexie and Kris scrambled to get out of the beast's way.
Lexie, Kris, and Daisy managed to avoid getting hit by the beast but Cooter
didn't. Cooter was knocked down by the beast as it swung one of its large
paws at him. He fell to the ground and the beast moved in over top of him.
The beast snarled and snapped at Cooter's head. He managed to move out
of the way just enough to avoid the beast's jaw. Daisy, Lexie and Kris
tried to get the beast off of Cooter but their attempts were futile, the
beast took no notice of the attempts. Cooter tried to struggle to break
away from the beast but couldn't. The cuts across his chest from the beast's
sharp claws stung as he tried to move. Luke quickly moved over behind the
beast. He took one of the arrows and plunged it into the beast's back.
The beast let out a howl in pain, then staggered off of Cooter to confront
its attacker. The beast stood still just staring at Luke, which gave Cooter
time to slip away unnoticed by the beast. Luke loaded another arrow and
lowered it at the beast. The beast stood still as though it were awaiting
orders. Luke fired the arrow and struck the beast through the heart. The
beast made a staggering movement forward making a low growling sound then
it dropped to the ground and died.
"Is it dead?" Daisy asked. Luke went
over to the beast and kicked it with his foot. "Yeah it's dead."
Then he looked at Cooter who was sitting against a tree. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine." Cooter responded.
Luke looked up at temple. "Well we'd better getting moving before
something else happens."
Everyone nodded in agreement. They made their way up the temple's
steps, Luke was a few feet ahead of everyone. Luke entered the temple when
there was a bright flash of light. A force field appeared stopping everyone
else from entering and Luke from exiting. Luke decided it was best just
to continue on. He was filled with a deep worry about Bo. Luke knew he
had to find him soon before it was too late. He knew he had to save Bo
from this evil. Luke made his way down the dimly lit corridors of the temple,
trying to think of just how he was going to free Bo from the hold the evil
had on him. He couldn't think of what he was going to do and he began to
fill with dread that when he found Bo he wouldn't know how to save him.
He also worried that he wouldn't be able to save Bo and that he would be
lost forever to the evil.
When Luke reached the main room a feeling
of apprehension swept over him. The main room was brightly lit, by the
large flame that burned in pit by alter, as well as numerous small candles
along the walls. Bo stood by the alter, facing the door. Bo noticed Luke
moving in the shadows by the door. Bo smiled. There was nothing friendly
at all in the smile, only evil could be seen in it.
"Come into my parlour said the spider to the
fly." Bo said, then laughed an evil, cold sounding laugh that sent a chill
through Luke.
Luke took a deep breath and stepped slowly into the room. He
stood staring at Bo, he could see that Bo's eyes were dark and filled with
evil. Luke didn't know what to say or do, his mind felt as though it had
gone blank. Only one thought ran through his mind over and over again and
that was to save Bo.
"Took you long enough to get here." Bo said.
"Bo, you have to fight this evil. This ain't
you. You..." Luke started to say.
"SILENCE!" Bo said in a commanding tone. "You
have no right to tell me what to do. I do not have to listen to you. And
besides, what do you care?"
Luke stood shocked for a moment, taken back by the harshness
in Bo's voice. "This is not you Bo. This evil is taking over you.
You're my cousin, I don't want to lose you."
"Save it, dear cousin. I know the truth. I
know that you do not care." Bo said.
"That is not true, Bo. This evil is filling
your head with lies. I do care. You are my cousin, you are my best friend
in the world."
"Shut up! You are a liar, cousin. And you
are also a traitor. For this you will be destroyed." Bo said.
"I am not lying to you. Bo you have to fight
this evil don't let it consume you. If I didn't care, why would I have
come here to save you?" Luke asked.
Bo stood silent, unable to think of an answer to that. Then he
heard a deep voice inside his head.
"He came to take this power away from you.
He don't think you deserve it. He hates you. Think of how he tried to kill
you." then flashes of the night Luke tried to kill him came into his mind.
"He despises you. He wants to destroy you."
Luke watched as Bo stood there silently, he saw Bo's face had
gone pale. Luke walked over and placed a hand on Bo's shoulder.
"Bo are you okay?" he asked worriedly.
Bo didn't respond, he could still hear the other voice talking
to him.
"You must destroy him before he destroys you."
Bo then pulled away from Luke and stared coldly at him.
"You came here to take away my powers, you
don't think I deserve such power. You hate me and you want to destroy me."
"Bo that is not true. None of it is true.
I came here to save you." Luke said.
Bo stood thinking. Something in his mind told him what Luke was saying
was the truth, yet the other voice told him it wasn't. In his mind
the other voice seemed more real and so he believed it to be the truth.
"Enough lies cousin. I know the truth. Stop
denying the truth."
Luke was filled with deep dread and worry. He feared that
it was too late and that the evil had totally consumed Bo's mind and soul.
"Bo I am not lying to you. I never have lied
to you and I never would. You have to fight this evil, don't let it consume
you. Fight it, cousin."
"Silence. I have heard enough out of you."
Bo said. Then he reached up and closed his hand around the amulet. He glared
at Luke. Then there was an ice cold gust of wind the swept Luke across
the room and pinned him to the wall above the floor. Bo's hand closed tighter
around the amulet as he glared at Luke. Luke felt as though an icy hand
had closed around his lungs. He tried to breathe but couldn't. He gasped
for air, but all that happened then was an icy stabbing pain shot through
his whole body. Then the pressure loosened on his lungs and he was flung
back across the room. His head struck the alter as he fell to the ground.
He lay still gasping for air. His lungs burned. He tried to get up but
fell exhaustedly to the ground.
"Get up cousin." Bo said, his voice harsh
and demanding.
Luke made no movement to get up. Bo kicked Luke in the ribs,
and Luke flinched in pain.
"I said get up." Bo said his voice even more
demanding.
Slowly Luke started to get up. His ribs ached and he held them
as he rose.
Bo grabbed Luke by the back of the neck, drug him to his feet and flung
him back against the alter. Luke flinched in pain.
"You are nothing more then a liar and a traitor
cousin and you will be destroyed. But first you will witness the deaths
of those that accompanied you here." Bo said his voice cold and emotionless.
The fire grew in brightness and the flame rose high. Luke could
see Daisy, Cooter, Lexie, and Kris outside the temple. He could see the
worry and fear on their faces. The sky was changing colours in a swirl
of red and black. A loud crack of thunder rolled across the sky. Bright
strokes of lightening flashed across the sky. Rain started to pour down
and a strong wind began to blow. Cooter, Daisy, Lexie, and Kris ran to
try to find cover. They went to get into to Cooter's truck, but it was
caught by a gust of wind which flipped it over.
Luke looked away from the fire. "Bo you can't do this."
"And why can't I?" Bo asked.
"Because this is not you. You are not evil.
You have to fight this evil. Don't let it do this to you." Luke said. Bo
pinned Luke tighter against the alter.
"Shut up. You know nothing." Bo's voice was
so dark, cold and evil, that Luke barley even recognized it any more. Bo's
hand was still around the amulet and he closed it tight around it. Luke
felt a sharp pain shoot through his body.
"Bo, you have to fight the evil. Don't let
it consume you. I don't want to lose you. Fight it...please." Luke said
"SHUT UP!" Bo yelled at Luke his voice filled
with evil. The flame diminished, it no longer showed what was going on
outside. Luke couldn't hear any thunder and hoped that the storm was gone.
The book fluttered open to a spell. Bo let go of Luke and moved towards
the open book.
"Bo stop...." Luke said. Bo turned to face
Luke, he glared evil at him.
"Don't tell me what to do."
Luke had no idea what to say. He had never seen Bo this way ever,
not even when the evil had first came to Hazzard. Then Luke heard a voice
in his head it told him to take the picture out and show it Bo. Luke slowly
took out the picture and unfolded it.
"What is that?" Bo asked grabbing the picture
away from Luke. Bo stood staring almost blankly at the picture.
"Bo you have to fight this. See I ain't lying
to you." Luke said.
Bo's eyes slowly returned to their normal colour as Bo stood
looking at the picture.
"Bo..." Luke started to say but never finished
- Bo cut his sentence off.
"It is a lie...you are a traitorous liar."
Bo said then dropped the picture. It slowly fluttered to the floor. He
held his head between his hands, and closed his eyes tightly.
Luke put his hand on Bo's shoulder. He looked at Bo worriedly.
"You got to fight this, cousin. I don't want
to lose you."
Bo opened his eyes and looked and Luke. His eyes were filled
with torment.
"I can't. It's too strong...I just can't fight
it. I ain't strong enough to fight it." Bo said, his voice soft.
"You can fight it. You have to. You can beat
it. You just have to try." Luke said.
Bo pulled away from Luke. His eyes retuned to the deep black shade.
"Shut up!"
Bo stared at Luke. He could hear the deep voice in his mind telling
him that he had to destroy Luke, before Luke destroyed him. Bo didn't want
to believe the voice, he tried to refuse to listen to it, but it seemed
the harder he tried to fight it the stronger it got. The amulet was glowing
brightly. Luke saw the amulet had started glowing, he knew that the evil
had a lot to do with that amulet. Luke figure that he had to get the amulet
off Bo and that would help to save Bo from the evil's hold on him. Luke
reached out and grabbed the amulet, an electric shock ran through his body
sending him stumbling back a couple paces. Bo smiled and laughed, the laugh
was filled with evil.
"You are a pitiful fool. You cannot win. You
will be destroyed." He closed his hand around the amulet. Luke felt as
though his lungs were been crushed. He tried to catch his breath, but every
time he inhaled his lungs burned. Luke dropped to the floor, desperately
trying to breathe. His eyes were filled with pain as he looked up at Bo.
Bo stood watching as Luke tried to breathe, he didn't want to be hurting
Luke at all but the voice told him he had to kill him. Bo refused to listened
to the voice. Bo's eyes returned to their normal colour he released his
hand from the amulet. Luke lay for a couple moments to catch his
breath then started to try to get up. Bo gave Luke a hand to stand up.
Luke put a hand on both of Bo's shoulders. His lungs were still sore. He
looked at Bo's eyes and saw they were filled with pain.
"It's gonna be okay Bo." he said quietly.
Luke saw Bo's eyes starting to change back to black then back to blue.
The two colours seemed to swirl together in turmoil. Bo closed his eyes
then took a step back pulling away from Luke's hold. Bo opened his eyes,
they were their normal shade of deep blue. He brushed his blonde bangs
out of his eyes. Then he reached up and took a hold of the amulet's chain,
and removed it from around his neck. Then he smashed the amulet against
the alter. The amulet shattered into tiny fragments. The alter began flow
with blood, the blood streamed down its sides, pooling on the floor. Above
the alter a large, swirling, red and gold portal appeared.
"NOOO!" said a deep evil voice from the other
side, the same voice that Bo had been hearing in his mind.
Luke moved over and stood by Bo. All of a sudden a great gust
of wind came through the portal, which flung both Bo and Luke across the
room. They struck the far wall, the wind vanished and they fell the floor.
Luke had been knocked out when he struck the wall. Bo moved to check on
Luke.
"Luke are you okay??" he asked worriedly.
He saw that Luke was unconscious. Luke's breathing was shallow and slow.
Bo felt tears watering in his eyes but he bit them back. "Come on Luke
wake up. You hear me, cousin? You wake up now. You can't leave me." Bo
said his voice was filled with sadness.
Luke's breathing became more shallow and seemed to almost cease.
Bo checked for a pulse, it was very weak. Bo's eyes were filled with tears,
he closed his eyes to hold the back, and yet a single tear rolled down
his cheek. Then an evil laughter started. Bo looked back towards the portal,
it seemed to have doubled in size.
"You are a fool, mortal. You didn't actually
think you could win, did you?" the voice questioned.
Bo slowly stood up facing the portal. He remained silent as he
started to walk towards the portal.
Outside the storm had stopped a while ago
but the sky was deep red and large black clouds swirled threatening to
storm again. The four of them stood silently staring at the temple, which
seemed to have come to life. It slowly pulsated, and a low pounding sound
emanated from it.
Inside the temple all the candles had grown
in brightness. The portal seemed to grow with each passing second. Luke
had started to wake up, he saw Bo approaching the portal and filled with
worry. Luke slowly stood up, his head was pounding so hard he stumbled
against the wall when he tried to walk.
"This world will be destroyed. You could've
had power, you foolish mortal, but now you will be destroyed along with
the rest of this world." the voice said.
Bo didn't responded he just continued to slowly walk towards
the portal. Luke started to walk towards Bo, his pace was slower then Bo's
he could barley even walk straight.
"You are a pathetic mortal. Did you actually
think you could destroy me? You couldn't do that, you can't do anything
right. That is why nobody cares about you." the voice said evilly.
Bo was over to the alter, he looked down and saw the picture,
he bent down and picked it up.
"That is not the truth. I don't believe your lies anymore, I
know the truth." Bo said then grabbed the book and flung in into the portal.
Luke had reached where Bo was standing just as he flung the book
into the portal. There was a bright flash of light. The room ignited in
a gold flame. Bo turned around to face Luke.
"Are you okay?" he asked concernedly.
"Yeah I'm fine. Are you okay?" Luke asked.
Bo nodded.
"I think we had better get out here, before
this place burns to the ground."
They started to walk towards the exist when
the alter exploded, knocking them both the ground. Shards of the alter
flew all across the room. One landed on Luke's leg. The dust quickly settled
to the ground. Bo had dropped the picture and it become covered in a pile
of dust and was not visible. Luke tried to move but couldn't. Bo moved
the debris off Luke's leg and helped him stand up. The flames were growing
larger and quickly filling in towards them. The exit still remained clear,
but the flames were closing in on it.
"Can you walk?" Bo asked.
Luke tried to take a step, and a hot stabbing pain shot up his
leg, he stumbled, but Bo caught him.
"No, not a chance." Luke responded.
Bo slid his arm around Luke and Luke leaned on to Bo's shoulders
and he helped him towards the exit. Luke hobbled, avoiding putting any
weight on his left leg. They went into the corridor, seconds after the
flames closed in on the door. The corridor was unlit, all the candles had
blown out, however they could see perfectly from the light of the fire.
The flames had started to come down the corridor. They made it out of the
temple. Daisy, Cooter, Lexie and Kris rushed over to see and to help. Bo
helped Luke sit down on the ground over by Dixie.
"Are you both okay?" Daisy asked worriedly.
"Yeah, basically. I think Luke has a broken
leg though." Bo said.
They watched as within moments the temple crashed to the ground
in a thunderous thud. The dust settled to the ground quickly. There was
nothing but smoldering ash left, then it too vanished, leaving behind no
more then a scorched mark in the land where the temple had stood. The clouds
left the sky and the sun shone down brightly through the trees. They all
got into Dixie. Bo helped Luke into the backseat, Daisy got in the backseat
as well and sat between Bo and Luke. Cooter drove and Lexie and Kris sat
up front. They took Luke to the doctor's. Luke's leg was broken and he
had a cast put on. Then they went back to the Dukes' farm.
They decided it was best not to just try to bury the evil and
pretend it didn't happen this time, they thought it would be best to talk
about it. Lexie and Kris told them that they were not really sisters and
again apologized for what they had done when the evil had consumed them.
Nobody held it against them, they all knew perfectly well the powers the
evil had over your mind, especially Bo and Luke. Lexie and Kris decided
to stay in Hazzard after everything that happened they thought it would
too hard for them to return to their homes, and too hard to deal with it
all alone.
The next day, as the dawn's early light shone over the hills
of Hazzard, Bo got up and left the farmhouse. Luke woke and noticed that
he was gone and got up. He hobbled out the door on his crutches and saw
the General just disappearing around the bend. He went and got into to
Dixie and followed after him. Bo drove to the graveyard, Luke was a couple
minutes down the road behind him. Bo walked through the graveyard and over
to Jesse's grave. He stood staring down at the stone. Thoughts of what
he had seen that night, that the evil had shown him about Jesse not caring
began to surface in his mind. Bo could feel tears start to burn his eyes,
he wondered if there was truth in those words. He closed his eyes to try
to hold back the tears, but still a few tears escaped rolling down his
cheeks. He started to think of everything that had happened and everyone
that he had hurt. He filled with guilt. He felt so bad about everything
that he had done, and was blaming himself for what happened. He thought
of how he had forced Luke to allow the evil to reconsume him.
Luke arrived at the graveyard and saw Bo standing there. He got
out of the jeep and hobbled on his crutched over to where Bo was. Bo heard
someone coming up behind him and turned to see who it was. Bo didn't say
anything he just turned and looked back down at the grave. Luke walked
over and stood beside him. Luke had saw the look of sadness and contrition
in Bo's eyes. Bo stood silently trying to hold back the tears that filled
his eyes, but slowly that slipped down his cheeks. Luke adjusted his weight
on the crutches and put a hand onto Bo's shoulder.
"It is all my fault, I never meant to hurt
anyone. I didn't want, I just... it's all my fault. I can't do anything
right." Bo said quietly.
"That is not true. What happened was not all
your fault. Nothing that happened was your fault. And you can to do things
right." Luke said.
"But..." Bo started to say.
"That wasn't true. What the evil showed you
was not at all true. You don't actually think that he would say those things,
do you?" Luke asked.
Bo shrugged. "I don't know. It just all seemed so real."
"I know it seemed real, but it is not true.
I mean really think about and you will know it is not true. I know that
he would never say those things or feel that way. I thought before it was
but I know now in my heart it is not. You just got to believe that as well."
Luke said.
Bo took a deep breath and looked at the stone. He thought about
what Luke was saying, he thought about times before the evil had come,
before Jesse had died and he knew that Luke was right. Bo looked at Luke
and nodded. "Yeah, I guess you're right. But it still was all my fault,
everything that happened."
"That is not true none of what happened was
your fault. You cannot blame yourself." Luke said.
"Yeah but..." Bo started say.
"There are no buts about it. You are not at
all to blame. Nobody is to blame. The evil consumes the mind. Nobody blames
you." Luke said.
"I do." Bo said looking away from Luke.
"You can't blame yourself, it wasn't your
fault." Luke said.
Bo didn't respond, he stared towards the rising sun that lit
the sky in beautiful orangeish colour.
"Well, do you blame me then for what all happened
before?" Luke asked.
Bo looked back at Luke. "No of course not."
"Well then you can't blame yourself. It is
the exact same thing. Just don't worry about it, everything will be fine
now." Luke said.
Bo thought about what Luke was saying and realized it was the
truth and that he couldn't blame himself for what had happened.
"Yeah you're right, again." Bo said and smiled.
Luke smiled back. "Come on, let's go back home now."
Bo nodded in agreement. They hooked Dixie to the back of the
General. Then Bo helped Luke with his crutches and to get into the passenger's
side of the General, then he went around and got in the drivers side and
they sped back towards the farm.
