Here is Janelle, shining and shimmering in her golden gown.

In a 1997 interview with the Dallas Morning News, Janelle had this to say about winning Miss Photogenic: "I was actually a bit upset because I felt I had gotten that to appease the black contestants."


Janelle was born in Port-of-Spain, but moved to New York City when she was 13.

After graduating from a New York high school, she attended the Fashion Institute of Technology. In 1976, she returned to her twin-island homeland and the rest is history.
