WONG LI-LIN HOMEPAGE

This is my attempt at setting up a 'fan page'. Through this page, I hope to encourage other 'web-weavers' to set up informative pages of their favourite local artistes.
Now, introducing one of Television Corporation of Singapore's previously-upcoming-but-currently-hottest TV personalities, Wong Li-lin.

About Her

Information below is extracted from her interview in the local TV guide,"8 Days".
Any additional information about her would be greatly appreciated.

Background

Wong Li-lin comes from a kampong and at age 3, was fostered to a Malay family. She attended a neighbourhood school and subsequently studied in Temasek Secondary School. From such humble beginnings, she managed to obtain a Loke Cheng Kim scholarship to the Royal Ballet School in England. She was 16 then. In addition, she graduated from the school's prestigious Teacher Training College.
In 1992, she returned to Singapore and started her own school of ballet, Forms Ballet & Dance Centre, located at the West Coast Recreational Centre.

During her teaching stint at Television Corporation of Singapore (TCS) (then still SBC) two years ago, she was discovered and went on to star in Singapore's first English drama, Silent Night. Since then, she has gone on to star in Singapore's first English drama series, Masters of the Sea, and has made several guest appearances on local gameshows.

Li-lin signed on officially with TCS in 1995 and hasn't looked back since. She sold off her ballet school and concentrated on her acting career. Realising her popularity, TCS has been actively promoting her. She first played the lead role in the action series Triple Nine. Her English education has helped her in compering many of TCS's major shows like Supermodel of the World/Singapore and the President's Star Charity. Her participation in commercials and trailers has also given her no small exposure. In recent public appearances, she had shown up wearing several eye-catching outfits, creating no small amount of publicity.

Riding the popularity wave, she had crossed over to star in Chinese dramas. She had already starred in two telemovies and is now in her first Chinese drama series, Rising Expectations.

Here's something unexpected...
She has had her navel pierced. This 'little secret' was revealed during an episode of the show Singapore Leisure.

NEWSFLASH

Li-lin recently announced that she is leaving TCS, citing personal reasons. She states that her decision came about after much thought

Quotes

Extracted from 8 Days interview :
" I guess I'm above-average in looks. But I'm not vain.
I don't wake up in the mornings looking for pimples
in the mirror. There're other things to life than just
looking good. I don't think I pay as much attention to
my looks as I should.
Growing up with three older brothers, I was quite a tomboy. "

" Bad pick-up lines. I'm really quite sick of bad pick-up lines."
