Character: Meg Cummings
Susan Ward plays Meg Cummings, the woman who left Tim Truman (Dax Griffin) at the altar in Ludlow, Kansas, to search for a man in Sunset Beach she knew only through the Internet as "SB."
As a 13-year-old, Ward had every intention of becoming a veterinarian until a modeling agent spotted her in a mall. She and her mother headed to New York to look into modeling, which Ward excitedly saw as an opportunity to finance her veterinary training. Little did she know that her week-long adventure in the Big Apple would lead to a contract with the prestigious Ford modeling agency.
Over the next several years, Ward traveled back and forth between New York and her home in Monroe, Louisiana, as she built a modeling career and subsequently completed high school and several college courses.
After appearing in numerous public service announcements for the Northeast Louisiana Alcohol and Drug Abuse Association, she began taking acting lessons and soon thereafter embarked on an acting career. She captured a small role on the daytime drama "All My Children" and a year later returned to the show as a recurring player.
In June of 1995, she auditioned for a part on Aaron Spelling's prime-time NBC series "Malibu Shores." Roughly six months later, she was asked to fly to Los Angeles to test for the role. "I had completely forgotten about it," Ward recalls. At the test, she was introduced to Aaron Spelling, and she describes the meeting as "very overwhelming." Nonetheless, although she says she was "very nervous" at first, she found Spelling to be "one of the nicest men [she had] ever met."
Ward is single and lives in Los Angeles. As a child, she raced the BMX bicycle circuit in Louisiana, but she now enjoys a more relaxing mode of transportation: inline skating. She loves animals and the outdoors, but also enjoys the company of a good book, especially a classic or a murder mystery. Her birthday is April 15. From NBC Daytime
