Other Nostalgia
Below is a list of memories of my childhood. If you have similar memories or anything that you think i may be interested in the please contact me on zaney@cwcom.net

BBC 1

Charlie says.....      Every so often, the BBC would run a 2 min cartoon under the heading "Public Information Announcement". Often a cat named Charlie, showed Einstein ability, by reminding his very naive owner that "playing with matches" or  "going with strangers" was VERY  DANGEROUS. For me , it was the kids ability to understand Charlie's "Meeeeeooow oeeeow meoooeeww" that showed who was gifted out of the two.

Children's Programmes      This is a typical introduction to children's tv in the early 70's. Just in from school, I would sit in front of the fire and tuck into my peanut butter sandwiches and cup of tea, ready to enjoy the next 90 minutes.

Jo and Pertunia         Another Public Information classic, warning us of the dangers of going to the beach. Eg Sunstroke, strong currents at sea and keeping an eye on your position on the beach. Unforgettable.

Newsround            Fronted by John Craven, this was the news in every day plain English. It was always shown in the middle of children's television programmes around 5pm.

Nation Wide         This was a daily news update on current and local affairs. On the other side a program called Day by Day was its equivalent (in the south of England)

Southern                       How often this symbol came up with out me even noticing, since become TVS and now more recently Meridian.

Thames Television

Test Card Transmission                   One of my earliest memories of BBC2. It seemed to last forever! What made it slower, was the music being played in the background was like taking a trip down your local indoor shopping precinct.

Watch with Mother 1950       This was the screen for an introduction to a number of classic children's programs.
