Little Things that me go HMMMM....
January 25-29, 1999
I really have no words that can express how moving those scenes between RJ and Dorian were for me on Friday. TDS and RS were indescribable; I can say magnificent, excellent, right on the mark, but that will not convey to anyone that reads this how great I really felt it was. I cried, my daughter cried and my son laughed at us; then a couple days later I watched them again, and I sobbed.

Before Friday I was furious. I didn't want another SPT to be written involving RJ. I will admit I was thinking how low can the PTB stoop anyway, having RJ run all over town looking for fresh, plain, NY cheesecake; no blueberries, no chocolate. After watching TDS and RS on Friday I forgot how upset I was with PTB. Who better to comfort Dorian than RJ? RJ and Dorian had been on the run for months last fall. True, we fans of TDS did not get what we wanted - we didn't get to watch that wonderful friendship that must have developed off screen between Dorian and RJ. The little that we did get to witness we saw the chemistry between these two fine actors immediately. After Friday, we know that they have something special. I was riveted to the TV on Friday, something that hasn't been happening lately for me while watching this show.

January 25 - 29, 1999

I didn't see Wednesday's show, the one that led up to RJ on a hunt for fresh, NY cheesecake, plain, no blueberries, no chocolate. I gather from updates that I have read that Dorian called on RJ to help her put her romantic dinner together for Mel.

The cheesecake hunt continues as RJ shows up at the Palace Hotel Bar where Lindsey is sitting. She had just heard the newsflash about the airplane going down outside of Llanview. RJ to the bartender: "Listen, I need just two fingers of something smooth, ok?
The Bartender: "OK"
Lindsey: "RJ, what's going on? You look absolutely desperate."
RJ: "Huh? Well I am, uh, I need a cheese cake; apparently all of Llanview, Palace restaurant included, is sold out."
Lindsey: "A cheese cake?"
RJ: "A cheese cake. It's uh, it's for Dorian. You can be my witness - that I, RJ Gannon will never, ever cater anything for that woman again."
Lindsey: " Oh wait a minute! Dorian had a party and I wasn't invited?"
RJ: "Well it's just a romantic little supper for Mel. They had a fight, and I don't think Dorian needs any extra company."
Lindsey: "But she needs a cheese cake; hm, did you try the supermarket?"
RJ: (Sigh) "It wouldn't be good enough anyway; you see it simply must be freshly made, plain, New York, no blueberries, no chocolate, no nothing."
Lindsey (who should know, LOL): "Well, it takes more than a cheese cake to keep a husband. You should tell her that."
RJ: "Maybe I will."
RJ then finishes his drink, sets his glass down on the bar and says: "But now you know Lindsey, if you going to hang around in bars, you really should try Club Indigo. I mean at least the music's better."
Lindsey: "I'm just waiting for news about the plane crash."
RJ: "What plane crash?"
Lindsey: "Plane out of Llanview. I hope you don't have any friends or loved ones taking off tonight."
RJ: "No. No, but Dorian does."
Later RJ shows up at Dorian's - she answers the door: "Mel...RJ?"
RJ: "He's not here yet?"
Dorian: "No, he's not; but you know...you know how Mel can be so stubborn....is something wrong?"
RJ: "No."
Dorian notices that RJ has no cheesecake: "You didn't get the cheesecake?"
RJ: "Well, there wasn't a single one to be had."
Dorian "RJ, I've got to have that cheesecake. Come on, I'll pay you anything."
RJ: "Oh now wait, are you sure he's coming? I mean what if he didn't get your note?"
Dorian: "He's coming. He got my note. Ok?"
RJ: "Well maybe I should wait with you anyway."
Dorian: "Oh yeah, that will really be romantic. You, me, Mel and no cheesecake. Get out of here. I mean it and don't come back 'til you've got some cheesecake. New York Cheesecake."
RJ chuckles as he walks out her door: "Plain."
Dorian: "Exactly. Thank you."
Later Viki visits Dorian to tell her that Mel was on the plane that crashed. Also Blair and Kelly had shown up to comfort her; Dorian wouldn't have any of that as she sends them all away. She is in complete denial when RJ comes back. The door bell rings and Dorian runs to the door: "You are impossibly late, but I forgive you."
RJ walks in after Dorian answers the door: "One, authentic, New York style cheesecake per your request. And let me tell you it was one hell of a chase."
Dorian: "Thank you, RJ." Dorian starts toward her livingroom as she says to RJ: "I'll make it worth your while. As you can see, my husband is still detained. But I know he's really going to appreciate this when he gets home."
RJ: "So, everything's ok?"
Dorian swallowing back her tears: "That kind of depends on whose version of the events you choose to accept."
Rj removes his coat as Dorian beckons him to have a seat on the sofa as she says: "So you've heard about the plane."
RJ: "Yes."
Dorian: "According to my doom and gloom nieces, and of course my dear friend Viki, Mel was on that plane."
RJ: "But...but you don't believe that?"
Dorian: "Of course not. No, my husband's on his way home to me."
RJ: "Well, if there's one thing I know about Mel, if can he do it, he will."
Dorian: "He tenacious...and stubborn."
RJ: "Unlike you."
Dorian: "One of the reasons we fell in love, our similarities."
RJ: "That, plus your differences."
Dorian: "Ok. Our marriage is a balancing act more often than not. One of us ends up on the mat."
RJ gets up from the sofa and sits beside Dorian: "Well, that sounds like a successful marriage to me."
Dorian: "When my husband takes a stand based on his own particular code of ethics, you can argue with him until you're blue in the face; and I often do."
RJ laughs: "He must love you in blue."
Dorian: "Apparently. Of course, one place where things never fail to get resolved, is in bed. There, things are pretty amazing between us."
RJ: "So I've heard. No details, mind you; just by inference and the gleam in his eye."
Dorian: "Know how we met?"
RJ: "In, in DC."
Dorian: "He was drunk as a skunk; he fell on top of me."
RJ laughs: "He never knew what hit him."
Dorian: "If Mel was on that plane, he's probably giving directions to the other survivors who are waiting to be rescued; and furiously making notes for an article he's going to write - about his experience."
RJ: "I can see Mel doing that."
Dorian: "OH God help us. If that man wins another Pulitzer Prize, forget it; he's going to be insufferable."
RJ: "I'm sure you can keep him in line."

Dorian: "I couldn't keep him from getting on that plane."
RJ: "Stubborn."
Dorian quietly: "I would know if he was dead; we're that connected. We always have been. Right...right from the beginning."
RJ responds softly: "I know. He told me more than once."
Dorian looks at RJ and the tears are running down her cheeks: "Oh God." Dorian starts crying louder: "OH God. Oh God, No. No." as she covers her face.

RJ quietly puts his arms around Dorian as she cries into his shoulder.

Little thing that me go Hmmm....
February 1-5, 1999
RJ was on but it wasn't really what I would call an RJ week. I mean sure he was on three days, maybe four; but his appearances, as such, weren't about him. RJ attended Mel's memorial service; he invited all those that were present to Club Indigo. He shows up at his own Club but the attention is all on everyone else but him.

Suddenly, Club Indigo is in the picture again, and I know it is only because Maxie Boy has sold his 2% of the Sun to Asa. Where else is Max going to hang out now? What else is there for him to do? RJ hadn't been on at all the first three weeks of January. Most of RJ's interaction was with Max this week.

I thought it would have made a very interesting confrontation between Nora and RJ. I feel almost as if suddenly RJ and Nora had no connection, no history. I still believe the one person that would have something to say, think and could relate to this story is RJ. RJ has wondered whether or not Rachel is his daughter.

February 1-5, 1999
RJ attended Mel's memorial service. After the service he invited all the people that were present, to Club Indigo; when arrived he informed Max that this is what he had done. For the remaining scenes at Indigo RJ pretty spent it behind the bar, as usual. There was no real interaction with anyone but Max. He taunted Max into asking out the next female that walked through Indigo's doors to prove he was over Blair. That female was Kelly. Basically that was about it.

Little things that make ME go hmmm…..
February 5-12, 1999
RJ was on quite a bit last week. I don’t know that I got everything. I do know, however, I loved the bantering between RJ and Max. I will admit that I was the first to scream about making Max a partner at Club Indigo. That said, Max and RJ are fun to watch. Although, I feel that RJ and Tea could be interesting, I don’t see it happening. As one who has gotten excited about RJ having a life outside of Club Indigo, I feel that he is being used only as a ruse to finally bring Tea and Sykes together. To bad, too; because I am not at all interested in watching Sykes and Tea – that pair spells "snoozeville" to me.

I, personally, am amazed that Sykes is still on the police force. Didn’t this man obstruct justice, not once but twice, to protect Barbara? Wasn’t he Graham’s man – he doesn’t even get busted down to a street cop. He is head of detectives now, isn’t he? Well, whatever he is he should have been run out of town along with Graham and his daughter. And stay out of Club Indigo, invading RJ’s turf…

So far the best pair that JFP has put together has been Max and RJ. I love watching these guys work together. The have so much camaraderie; and they are so comfortable together in their scenes. I just wish RJ was the man going after the ladies not Max. Max has had his day, and I think that they should bring Gabrielle back (Fiona Hutchison) or Tina (Andrea Evans) for Max. He was fun to watch with these two women; actually the four of them could actually make the show a JOY to watch.

OH my, I just realized that I had failed to mention that RJ actually came from behind the bar, stood next to Tea who was sitting at the bar to talk to her. I must say that was definitely the highlight of the week for me!!!! That was the closest I have seen RJ to woman since Jacara left town. Jacara left town damn near a year ago.

Update for
February 5-12, 1999

Max is sitting at Club Indigo’s bar but his mind is elsewhere; RJ serves himself a cup of coffee then passes the cup past Max using the aroma from the coffee to get Max's attention:
RJ: "Earth to Max."
Max: "What is it?"
RJ: "I want you to get off Uranus, Pluto, Venus, that’s the planet you’re hung up on, isn’t it?"
Max: "Venus?"
RJ: "Venus, as in Blair Cramer."
Max: "Are you out of your mind? I’m so over her."
RJ: "Oh yea, you’re so over her. You couldn’t even function when another heavenly body spun into the room last night."
Max: "Have you been staying up late nights, watching Star Trek episodes. What’s with the astronomy lessons?"
RJ: "I’m just trying to get your mind out of your funk. Look, you made the boast that you could get a date with the next woman who waltzed in the Club, then you chickened out."
Max: "It was Kelly Cramer for crying out loud. What do you think, I’m desperate?"
RJ: "Oh no, you like dragging around here for kicks."
Max: "Well, you are one to talk. Would like to discuss your love life for a moment hear?"
RJ: "Oh no, don’t change the subject."
Max: "Is there someone special you’re spending up against, since Jacara blew town?"
RJ: "Max, you don’t want to go there, ok. I’m not the one walking around here in denial."
Max: "Oooh, who’s fooling who here, huh? Come on, who you got your eye on? Got your eye on somebody?
RJ: "Leave it alone."
Max: "Uh oh, yes he does. Come on, come on fess up."
RJ: "Please you’re not getting off this easy."
Max: "Come on. The batting averages for both of us is not going to get into the hall of fame."
RJ: "Uh huh and I’m not having this conversation with you."
Max: "I just want to know who you got your eye on."
RJ: "I’ll let you know as soon as it’s any of your business."
Max: "She’s not putting out, huh?"
RJ: "Shut up, Max!"
Max: "Oh, struck a nerve there, huh?"
RJ: "Look, I’m not like you. I will not reduce every woman or our relationship to how quickly physical intimacy is shared. Ok?"
Max: "She really shut you out, huh? Oh man, I’m so sorry" as Max looks toward the customers "Which one is she?"
RJ: "Fine. Fine. We are two arguably wild and lonesome guys, but that does not negate your boast that you could seduce the next woman who walked into the club."
Max: "Ok. Ok. Alright. Fine, the next woman that walks in as long as it isn’t Kelly Cramer."
RJ: "Look, either your butt can cash the check your mouth wrote or it can’t. Kelly included.
Max: "Ok, mouth, tell you what I’ll do. I’ll flip you for it; next woman that walks in. Yes, next woman that walks in loser has to ask her out, ok?" Max flips the coin "Call it."
RJ: "You really do have a gambling problem, don’t you?"
Max: "$50 if she says yes."
RJ: "Heads."
Max: "Oh no, no."
RJ: "$50 she says yes."
Max: "You got it."
In walks Tea.
Max: "Lord, it’s my luck – oh."
RJ sees that it is Tea and is not too pleased and turns to Max: "Look, I tell you what partner, I will let you of this one."
Max: "Not on your life. A bet’s a bet and I’m gonna win this one." Max looks over at Tea at the bar.
RJ serves Tea her drink then walks over to Max: "Look Max, I know your ego took a beating last night when Kelly shot you down, so don’t even try it on Tea. Tell you what if you want we can flip that coin all over again."
Max: "You issued a challenge, I’m equaled to that challenge."
RJ: "I don’t mean to insult you, but face it, Tea’s way out of your league."
Max: "Really? Well, why don’t you just step aside and watch a pro at work, huh?"
RJ watches Max approach Tea with his pick up line, asks her out; Tea reminds him of the last she went out with him. RJ looks on in amusement as tries to talk Tea into going out with him; she turns him down but he doesn’t give up. Max tries a line on her that makes Tea laugh and RJ just raises his eye browse at him. Then Blair walks in and Blair and Max get into an argument. Tea walks to the other of the bar, sets her empty glass down, and takes a seat.
RJ walks over and starts pouring as he says, "How about another glass of wine?" Tea: "Well, thank you RJ. You know you are a nice man. When are you going to go straight?"
RJ: "Well, this is as straight as I get – but the Club is totally legit."
Tea as she looks over at Max and Blair arguing: "Well, I am afraid it won’t stay that way as long as you’re in a partnership with that con artist, Max Holden."
RJ: "Ooh well, I’m his guardian angel. I keep him on the straight and narrow."
Tea: "You have your work cut out for you."
RJ laughs: "Oh? Maybe you could be my guardian angel."
Tea laughs. RJ and Tea continue to watch the argument between Max and Blair. Tea: "Those two, joined at the hip; now they’re beating up on each other."
RJ: "Soulmates."
Tea (cynical): "Ain’t love grand."
RJ: "Oh? Miss Delgado, who are you seeing these days?"
Tea: "I’m thinking of having a man cloned. Well, that way I can program him to do everything the way I like it."
RJ: "But that would get old fast, wouldn’t it? Where’s the hunt? Where’s the challenge? Where’s the unpredictability?"
Tea: "Todd gave me more than enough in the way of unpredictability. Now I’m looking for someone dull and pliable."
RJ: "Well, I don’t believe that for a second."
Tea changes the subject: "Now why do you think Max asked me out? Did you have a bet or something?" RJ almost chokes on his coffee. "RJ, spill the beans."
Max returns to the bar after his argument with Blair and Tea tells him that he owes RJ $50. Max asks for a second chance. RJ tells him he failed twice already. Max wants to go double or nothing. In walks Kelly Cramer.

Unfortunately I didn’t get the highlights for the following scenes. Max and Kelly are drinking while Tea and RJ looks on. It is obvious that RJ is interested in Tea when Sykes walks in. There was some talk about the key Todd left Tea. Sykes offers to help Tea solve the mystery, and RJ put in that he could probably be of more help. Sykes asks Tea out and RJ definitely looked jealous. Tea turns him down because she has a lot of work to do. Sykes leaves much to the relief of RJ.
