Little things that make me go hmmm....July 1, 1999
Sorry this was so long ago and I have since been on vacation I can't remember how I felt.
I do know that I enjoy watching RJ tormenting Tea.
I like how RJ is doing what he can to protect Dorian not only from the police but also so that Dorian can
indeed, visit Cassie. I agree that he is also concerned about getting found out; he doesn't want to go to
jail anymore than he wants to see Dorian there.
What I hate about this whole story is Lindsay -- just tell them already. Geesh, this bugs me. Lindsay
is hoping that Dorian can give her an alibit when all she needs to do is tell them she was at the hospital
while Jessica was run down.
Who besides me would have liked to have seen RJ and Tea together. RJ was ever so sweet and I love how
Tea almost gave in. I, personally can understand why she pulled away. She is scared of the man -- she
is scared of her feelings for him. |

Tea talking to the newsmedia:
Tea: We're going for the maximum charge we can -- vehicular homicide.
A baby was killed, and we believe we have enough evidence to convict Ms. Rappaport of murder. The d.a.'s office has considered Ms. Rappaport the prime suspect —
RJ in his apartment watching Tea’s news conference:
RJ: Nice going, tea. Too bad you're as wrong about this case as you were about me. Could've made a difference, too -- a difference for me and for you.
Tea: The decision to go for the maximum charge wasin large part a result of the callous disregard for life shown by ms. Rappaport in her failure to either stop after hitting Jessica Buchanan or to report the accident.
Tea: You know, for the first time since I joined the D.A.'s Office, I feel like I'm doing something really important.
John: Good. You handled those reporters like a real pro.
Tea: Now all I have to do is get the conviction.
RJ: Well, hello. Congratulations, counselor. I caught you on the tube. Very impressive.
Tea: This time I'm going to put the criminal behind bars, even if it takes me 24 hours a day every day to do it.
RJ: Well, that's not how I'd schedule your time, But, hey, go for it.
Tea: why are you so interested in this case? It doesn't affect you.
RJ: Well, whenever anything happens in Llanview, it affects us all. Isn't that right?
Tea: Please. Spare me the concerned civilian speech.
RJ: And I'll bet you're the sharp cop who found the evidence to nail Lindsay.
John: Gannon, why don't you take a hike?
RJ: That's Mr. Gannon. Yeah, yeah, I bet you pushed just a little harder than the rest, went that extra mile to get your man -- or woman, as the case may be.
John: Now, why would I do that?
RJ: why, to give Tea a gift -- a criminal on a silver platter to make up for the one that got away.
Tea: shut up.
RJ: I'm sorry. Did I hit a nerve?
John: No. We already made an arrestin the hit-and-run, and actually it doesn't concern you, so why don't you just go annoy someone else.
RJ: Enjoy your breakfast.
John: You, too.
Tea: Let's get out of here.
John: Why do you let him get to you?
Tea: No, it's not him. It's the case. Please, I want to get back in time for Lindsay's bail hearing.
John: All right.
Tea: Ok?
John: Yeah, sure.
Tea: Thanks.
July 5, 1999
RJ: You're back.
Dorian: Yes, I'm back.
RJ: I guess I was the first one you called?
Dorian: Indeed. How about this heat wave? I thought I landed in the Sahara.
RJ: Yes, the heat is certainly on. How's Cassie?
Dorian: She has her good days, and then she has her bad. But she responded to meimmediately as soon as I arrived. She almost seemed like her old self. We laughed, we talked, cried, held each other for most of the night.
RJ: Well, that's good.
Dorian: Except her doctors tell me it's the first lucid moment she's had in weeks. She's not responding or progressing the way that they hoped. So I said I wanted to bring her home, but they said no. If she was moved, it might cause irreparable damage, so they want me to be prepared to go back and forth to Switzerland to visit her as part of her therapy. They somehow feel that my presence grounds her.
RJ: Well, that sounds great. And the timing is just about perfect. Yeah, you should go back. Unless -- unless, of course, you can't do it.
Dorian: seeing Cassie almost made me forget.
RJ: Forget? How can you forget the prospect of going to jail for running down Jessica? Face it, there's no forgetting.
Dorian: No, and there never will be.
Dorian: What happened while I was away? Am I about to go to jail? Have they found out that I did it?
RJ: No. No, your secret's still safe. But if you give them ammunition, if you confess, they'll put you away for good, and that will leave Cassie without hope and without help.
Dorian: I don't know. I don't think I can go on living like this.
RJ: well, then go back to Switzerland now. Go back and take care of Cassie.
Dorian: are you so worried about Cassie, or are you a bit worried about yourself? After all, you did get rid of the car.
RJ: Oh, no. No, you don't. I didn't start this, Dorian. I've been nothing but loyal to you. Yes, yes, I want my butt covered, but my loyalty is not for sale, and you should know that by now. We're friends because of who we are, what we've been through.
Dorian: I know that. You're just about the only person in this entire town that I know will stick by me no matter what.
[telephone rings]
RJ: uh-uh, let me get that.
Dorian: What, RJ?
RJ: Lord-Hayes residence.
Lindsay: I need to speak to Dorian right away, please.
RJ: Well, who's calling?
Lindsay: Lindsay Rappaport.
RJ: well, Dorian's out of the country.
Dorian: wait a minute. Who is --
RJ: shh!
Lindsay: I heard her, RJ. Put her on the phone. I need to speak with her immediately.
RJ: oh, I'm sorry, but you'll just have to call back.
Dorian: who was that?
RJ: Lindsay.
Dorian: why did you hang up?
RJ: dorian, I just don't think you should be talking to Lindsay right now.
Dorian: I don't think it's up to you to choose who I speak to and who I don't speak to. She's my business partner. I'm calling her back.
RJ: well, there's something you should know before you speak to her.
Dorian: mm-hmm.
RJ: While you were gone, the police made a breakthrough in their investigation. They have a suspect. They've arrested Lindsay and charged her with vehicular homicide.
July 6, 1999
RJ: I don't believe you agreed to be Lindsay's alibi. You can't help Cassie from jail, you know.
Dorian: I know that.
RJ: you just told me yourself. The one person Cassie responded to was you. Now, don't you want to see her again?
Dorian: of course I do.
RJ: then you need to stay free. I mean, unless you want to undo all the progress she's made.
Dorian: of course not.
RJ: then what were you thinking, Dorian?
Dorian: I can't let Lindsay take the rap for this.
RJ: come on, come on. We both know she didn't do it. So she has a real alibi. Oh, but Lindsay doesn't want to use it because the cops can't know what she was really up to. So why are you going to expose yourself to protect her?
Dorian: I thought you said the police don't suspect me.
RJ: well, they don't. But they sure as hell will. And they'll want to know why you gave her an alibi.
Dorian: not necessarily.
RJ: come on. Even if Lindsay was spotted someplace else, she still has an alibi. But guess who doesn't? What, so she gets to live happily ever after, and we get brand-new digs at statesville.
Dorian: RJ, I just cannot let Lindsay get tried and convicted for something I did.
RJ: she won't be convicted. They don't have enough evidence, and she didn't do it.
Dorian: look, I don't want to talk about this anymore.
ok? I want to call Cassie.
Dorian: Cassie, honey, I miss
you, too. Oh, it was so wonderful spending time with you. And I promise you I will come back just as soon as I can. It's just -- right now I have to help a friend. But I swear to you nothing is going to get in the way of my coming back. Nothing.
(I put this in because of what happens the next day between RJ and Delphina.)
Dorian: Madame Delphina.
Delphina: I'm glad I found you in.
Dorian: what is it?
Delphina: I've been getting signals all day.
Dorian: signals? What kind of signals? From whom?
Delphina: from your late husband. It seems he's frightened for you, Mrs. Lord-hayes.
Dorian: why?
Delphina: it's unclear. Except, it has something to do with your daughter.
Dorian: I'm taking care of my daughter.
Delphina: well, he wants you to continue to do that. He doesn't want you to destroy your family.
Dorian: "destroy"? Is that what he said?
Delphina: hmm. He wants you to undo what you have done. He says nothing should come before your family.
Dorian: Is he talking about Lindsay? Does he want me to give her an alibi or does he want me to confess?
Delphina: you tell me. What is he talking about?
July 7, 1999
Dorian: RJ that was Cassie on the phone just now. She wants me to come back to Switzerland to see her.
R.J.: Well, good.we'll book you a flight first thing in the morning.look, don't worry about Lindsay. She can take care of herself. And if she can't, she has Bo and Rappaport to do it for her. Hey, she might even have my button-down brother in her corner. So don't worry about her.
Dorian: but I promised her I'd give her an alibi.
R.J.: If you give her an alibi, you put yourself in jeopardy.
Dorian: I can't let her take the blame for something Š
R.J.: Dorian, she's innocent. She'll be fine.she will. Look, it's folks like us they go after, so just make up your mind, Ok? Are you going to lie for someone who doesn't need it, or are you going to take care of your daughter?[doorbell rings]
Dorian: What if that'sthe police?
R.J.: Well, I don't know, but just stay out of it.
Dorian: You better stay out of it. They can't see us together. Please, leave out the back door.I can promise you, not a soul will know that you ever helped me. R.J.: Right.[doorbell rings]
Dorian: Hello.
Dorian opened the door; Bo, Sam and Lindsay are there to ask her about LindsayÕs alibi.
Bo: Dorian, we're here on official police business. Do you mind if we come in? Dorian: Of course.
Tea runs into the diner upset Š John has just moved his things out of ToddÕs penthouse. RJ is sitting at the counter.
Tea: Carlotta?
R.J.: Are you ok?
Tea: Leave me alone.
R.J.: Come on, Tea.we used to be friends. Do you remember a night at my club when you decided to take your life in a new direction? I do. I understood you then. You give me a chance, I think I could now.
Tea: What am I doing? I told you to leave me alone.
July 8, 1999
After Bo interrogates Dorian regarding LindsayÕs alibi. Dorian answers the door and RJ walks in.
RJ: man, talk about hot. It must still be 80 degrees out there. So, what happened?
Dorian: I just couldn't make myself lie for her. I just couldn't. I don't know. What have I done? I'm only trying to do what Mel wanted me to. I'm trying to protect my daughter. I'm trying --please give me strength. I just don't know how much longer I can hold it together.
RJ: Dorian, Dorian, itÕs ok. Come on, you got to pull yourself together, ok? You can't let them see you like this.
RJ: here you go.
Dorian: no, thank you. It's all because of a minuscule, microscopic strand of DNA that's why Lindsay won't clear herself. Isn't it unbelievable?
RJ: well, what's DNA got to do with anything?
Dorian: Doesn't really matter. What matters is that I betrayed her. I told her that I would lie for her, and I ended up lying to her.
RJ: you didn't have any choice. Remember what Delphina said --if you get involved, it's Cassie who suffers.
Dorian: and Mel didn't want me to get involved, but -- how could my life be any more ghastly?
RJ: You're damn skippy. You could be in jail.[door closes]
Kelly: Dorian what's going on? Why was Bo here? Are you in some kind of trouble? Kelly: well?
Dorian: how did you know Bo was here?
Kelly: Sophia. She came all the way over to Joey's to tell me that you were upset.
RJ: well, I think you can see that your aunt is fine.
Kelly: no, I can't see that, RJ. There's something wrong. I can tell by the way you're acting. Dorian: Kelly, you're being silly.
Kelly: Dorian, what is going on? Why was Bo here? Dorian: no big deal. Just something about a case.
Kelly: a case? Dorian, please talk to me.
RJ: Dorian, it's been a long day for you, and you were saying something about wanting to get to bed.
Kelly: RJ. Who appointed you her watchdog? Seems to me that you don't want to let her out of your sight.
RJ: what are you talking about? I'm just trying to be a friend. Look, you're the one who's being possessive.
Kelly: why is he here? Why are you spending so much time with RJ?
Dorian: Kelly, you are being a watchdog. I'm tired. I'm going to bed. Goodnight. RJ: good night.
Kelly: what do you got on her? What do you want?
RJ: I told you what I want. I want to be her friend. She's always been there for me.
Kelly: I trust you know your way out, RJ.
RJ: you know, if you would put Forian's needs ahead of yours just once, you won't bother her when she clearly wants to rest.
Kelly: I'll let her rest, RJ. But right now I'd like you to leave.
RJ: Ok, goodnight, Kelly.
Later when Sophia returns to DorianÕs RJ walks in the house right behind her.
Sophia: good lord, you scared me. What are you doing, watching the house?
RJ: what were you thinking, sending Kelly over here?
Sophia: hey, I was worried about Dorian. Kelly seems to have a way with her.
RJ: oh, yeah. It had nothing to do with you wanting to have your way with Joey Buchanan.
Sophia: you want to know what I want? I want everything that Kelly has -- all the money, all the style, all the power, and Joey Buchanan, too. And IÕm going to get it --all of it. You just watch me.
RJ: well, listen, I don't give a damn what you want. Don't mess with me. You'll force me to do something that I don't want to do.
July 9, 1999
At Todd's penthouse Tea is sitting at his desk when the telephone rings.
Tea's voice: This is Tea Delgado, leave me a message.
John: Hi, it's John. I wanted to - I left a red and blue tie at your place and I was wondering if you could drop it by the office on your way to work. If you prefer, you can just leave it with the desk sergeant. Thank you. Bye.
A knock at Tea's door, she answers:
Tea: RJ.
RJ: Are you - are you feeling any better?
Tea: I'm fine. Look RJ -
RJ: No, No, Please. Don't worry your secret is safe with me. Well, I'm not about to tell Sykes that you - well, you cried in my arms lats night.
Tea: Well, John and I are over, anyway.
RJ: What? I mean what happened?
Tea: What can I say? Sometimes people aren't always who you think they are.
RJ: Really? Well, I would have thought Sykes is more of the What-you-see-is-what-you-get kind of guy.
Tea: I wasn't talking about John.
RJ: Well, the problem with John is that he can't see beyond the obvious. I mean he looks at you, what does he see? A beautiful woman, vivacious, well-educated, ambitious - driven, even. And he likes that. So he pursued you, and he found more than he bargained for.
Tea: Or less
RJ: Less? How? I mean, there's mystery, passion, sensuality, and complication. He hadn't a clue how to deal with all of that or you so he loses it. Whereas I -
Tea: Please, you've said enough.
RJ: Well, I don't want you to think that I would take advantage -
Tea: Of what?
RJ: Well, of your being vulnerable, letting me see that, letting me try to help. I mean after everything that's happened between us - well, it felt good to have you turn to me.
Tea: I didn't turn to you, RJ.
RJ: Well, fine. I'll sign off on whatever terminology you prefer. But you were in need, and I was there.
Tea: Why are you here now?
RJ: Well, you've been on my mind, and I realize that if you were hurting enough to take comfort from, it must be pretty bad. So I felt I should - I should come by and make sure you were ok.
Tea: I'm fine. I have a lot of work to do. Fewer distractions here.
RJ: Well, I'm sure there are. I just wanted you to know that the next time you need a shoulder, you don't have to wait for me to happen to be there. You just call me.
Tea: I'll remember that.
RJ: I hope you do.
Tea: RJ.
RJ: Later.
Roseanne was lurking on the stairwell during RJ and Tea's conversation. When RJ leaves she comes down asking: Was somebody here? I heard voices.
Tea: Um, Yeah. It was the doorman with a package.
