Little Things that me go HMMMM....
November 2 thru 6, 1998
I must apologize for no updates but I have been having a horrible time accepting that RJ and Dorian's story has pretty much happened off screen. Anita has been kind enough to provide me with some RJ pics and I will post them...don't have any dialogue though.

I am hoping that with yet another change in headwriters that they will rectify the lack of stories for both Gannon men. I know I said this before and have no choice but to give PTB the opportunity to turn things around.

RJ: I should have been suspicious when you offered to pay so much just for me to follow Kevin.
Dor: I didn’t know it would be dangerous.

Enjoy the pics compliments of Anita; I think this is the last we see of RJ for awhile.

Little things that make me go hmmm....
December, 1998 - not sure of the dates. I think this happened on December 3rd. Seems as if RJ is being isolated again. He receives a letter from Rachel and he kindly shares it with Nora; but I would have preferred to have seen him sharing the letter with his brother Hank. Nora already gets enough scenes as it is and brotherly bonding between the Brothers Gannon would be so much more enjoyable for me to watch. RJ was on a couple times after this scene with Nora. He was used again as a prop; once for Max and Tea. Then another time he was peace keeper between Kevin and Barbara. Surely they can find something better for RJ to do than break up these overly zealous fights between Max and Blair or Kevin and Barbara.

Last week, the week of December 7th, RJ and Hank were on but unfortunately I forgot to put the tape in my vcr. I sure would have loved to have seen OLTL on that day since RJ and Hank are very seldom on together.

I think RJ was actually on 3... yes that is right 3 times last week. Can you believe it? Like I said I didn't see Monday's show, but I didn't miss the rest of the week. He offered the Rev. and Barbara a drink. When Barbara left the Reverend looking a bit frustrated since she wasn't listening to him -- RJ made the offer of a drink to the Reverend again.

Nora is walking to her door with her arm full with grocery bags when she hears RJ
"Nora. Nora, here let me do that for you."
"Ok, RJ." As they are walking in through the door Nora asks suspiciously, "Why are you here? What do you want?"
"Well, thank you. Nora, why can't I drip in without being accused of having ulterior motives?"
"No, you would never help me with my groceries."
"Ok. I got a letter from Rachel today."
Nora looks worried, "Is it bad news?"
"No, no, no, she's doing great."
"Well then what are doing that to me for? For goodness sake, I am expecting a letter from her. I haven't gotten it. You scared me. I apologize for assuming you had ulterior motives coming over here, ok? Just blame it on the past."
"Well I accept your apology, but the truth is I did have another reason for coming."

After Nora finishes reading Rachel's letter she says to RJ, "This is great, she's helped two women get their GED."
"Yep. She's turned into a regular school teacher."
Nora replies, "The best part is she is so proud and happy." She looks at RJ and asks "Alright, what is your ulterior motive?"
"Well I just wanted to thank you for defending me. I know it couldn't have been an easy thing to do."
"Because Bo's son was the victim?" she asks RJ.
RJ responds, "Well partly--and partly because of... because of our past."
Nora: "Oh come on RJ, that's ancient history."
"Well that's true but sometimes ancient history can squeeze you today."
Nora: "Oh, ok. Well there's no reason to get all philosophical and woo-woo and stuff like that."
RJ: "Ok. Ok. Well, anyway thanks alot."
Nora: "You're welcome. While we're at it, I'd like to thank you for everything you have done for Rachel. I know it always seems to be Uncle RJ to the rescue. Thanks alot."
RJ: "Rachel's family."
Nora: "So?"

RJ: "You're supposed to help family; you don't need to be thanked for that."
Nora: "Excuse me. You thanked me and I'm family."
RJ: "Nora, I don't think of you as family."
Nora: "You don't? Oh, ok, what do you think of me as then?"
RJ chuckles: "Well, you're a pain. You always want me to change something, be better. You are worse than my brother sometimes."
Nora: "A pain? Thank you."
RJ: "Sure. Sure. But I do remember when you were much more."
Nora abruptly starts walking to the door, "Thanks for stopping by RJ. Sorry you have to go so soon."
RJ: "Nora. Nora. Look I'm just trying to say that I guess I think of you as a friend."
Nora: "What are...what do...Why... you're getting all sentimental. Where is this coming from?"
RJ: "I've just been thinking..."
Nora: "Don't."
RJ: "And you're having this baby. I'm happy for you. I mean it's got to be a lot easier this time. It's not the 70s; Hank's not the father. Just you and your man, Bo, having a baby. No questions. No controversy."
Nora: "Yep. How's Club Indigo going?"
RJ smiling: "Oh she said smoothly changing the topic. It's fine. I mean Max is a real pain the butt. But I can hang."
Nora: "Good."
RJ: "Well I said my piece so I guess I should get back to Indigo before Max decided rock-retro is the next big thing."
Nora: "It could be worse."
RJ walking to the door turns to Nora: "You know I just ...I'm glad things are looking up for you. Career. Marriage. A baby on the way. What could be better than that?"
Nora: "Can't think of a thing."

RJ saved the Rev. yet of course the LPD thought the "drive by" was all about RJ. I wouldn't have a problem with that except that since RJ is hardly ever on for viewers to see if he is up to anything, I get a bit tired of that being the only reason we get to see RJ.
Friday, December 11, 1998.
The scene is at Club Indigo the day after the "drive by" in front of the club when RJ and Andrew were leaving. The Detective West and Commissioner Sykes are questioning Andrew and RJ.
Rev: "As I told the officers last night, RJ was just locking up; we were just talking." Looking at RJ Andrew continues "I don't even know what time it was."
RJ volunteers: "2...2 am."
Rev: "Anyway he shoved me to the ground, um a shot a rang out, then another one."
Sykes: "two shots."
Det. West: "We recovered on of the bullets. I sent Mulhoney over to ballistics to have it checked out."
Sykes: "RJ, what do you know about this?"
RJ: "What makes you think I know anything about this?"
Sykes: "Oh, I don't know, maybe your record."
RJ: "Club Indigo is legit."
Sykes: "You seem to know this hit was coming."
RJ: "Instinct. Split second before I noticed it, that's all."
Sykes: "Uh huh, want to tell me how?"
RJ: "I saw a car approaching, then I saw what looked like a barrel of a gun."
Det West: "Any debts pass due; maybe you've ticked off one of the local loan sharks."
Rev: "Slow down. Just one moment please. I mean, this man just saved my life."
Det West: "This man has a case history a long. Now come on RJ, who's got reason to be mad at you these days?"
RJ: "I was not the target."
Det. West: "Then who were they aiming at? The good reverend?"
At this time ABC chose to interrupt with a news break...

When they return to Club Indigo Barbara is their and they questioned her I guess. She leaves and Sykes turns to Andrew and RJ as he says to Det. West: "Detective West I think we are finished her for now. The two of you, we'll be in touch."
RJ: "Whoa, whoa. Hold on a minute, don't we at least get another flatfoot on the beat?"
Sykes: "Mr. Gannon I suggest that you get in touch with some of your former associates and make sure that none of them is carrying a grudge."
RJ: "Yea, I'll make sure to do that."
Kevin showed up somewhere during the newsbreak and he asks Sykes: "For the sake of my article, how are you categorizing this investigation?"
Sykes: "this investigation is ongoing; as soon as we get results from the test on the bullet we'll know...we'll know more where to go. Um, Miss Graham, we'll take you back to the hospital now."
They leave.

RJ to Kevin: "Listen Kevin, don't use this on your front page. Ok? I don't need the publicity."
Andrew shakes RJ's hand: "Listen, RJ, Thanks.

I was upset again because I feel as if this man, RJ, is now be relegated to an extra. He gets to stand behind that bar, wipe it down, and pour drinks. Occasionally he gets a line here and there but this IS NOT A STORY. I am going to be nice though because I love RJ and Mel together. I don't understand why Dorian is treating RJ the way she is treating him unless it is because she finds herself attracted to the man and is in denial.
December 14-18, 1998
RJ was on as the bartender on Wednesday, December 16th. Mel and Kevin are sitting at the bar while RJ is pouring drinks and doing bartender stuff as Mel asks RJ to leave the bottle and respondes with "Mmmm, hmmm." This show had many news interruptions about the bombing of Irag, so I wasn't able to get everything. After one interruption the show returns with Dorian arriving at Club Indigo, sees Mel at the bar and immediately assumes the worst - that Mel is drinking again. She walks hurriedly to the bar and grabs the bottle and the drink from Mel as she says: "How could you?" Mel responds as if he were drunk and tells Dorian to give it back; in the meantime RJ turns around and Dorian says to RJ "How could you? You know he's an alcoholic."
RJ: "I only pour them."
Mel: "To whom it may concern, I'm a drunk...there's a difference."
Dorian: "Why?"
Mel: "Oh, don't know honey; Mt. Everest, because it's there, I'm not a wimp."
Dorian: "You're soused."
Mel: "For pete's sake...it's gingerale."
Dorian sniffs the glass: "So it is."
Mel: "yes."
Dorian: "I was wrong."
Mel: "and..."
Dorian: "I'm sorry."
Mel: "and..."
Dorian looks at RJ then says: "No. I have my limits."
Mel more insistent: "RJ, I apologize."
RJ: "No problem, Babe."
Dorian: "Hey, don't push it Bub."
RJ to Mel: "Definitely not a wimp."
Mel: "See, see that's why I come here because I'm understood here."
Dorian: "I understand you all too well; now can we go home."
Mel: "No, have a seat Babe."
Another news interruption so I don't know if it ended here or not.
Little things that make me go hmmm....
You know what bugs me about this conversation is that it was all about Tea; for the second day or was it the third day in a row whoever came in contact with Tea, got treated to an "all about Tea" conversation. YAWN!!!!
I do not like that the only use that PTB can find for either Hank or RJ is to be Tea's sounding board. Why would these two men agree with Tea? I just can't see either one of them believing Tea was ever the victim or sympathizing with her. She wasn't railroaded into this marriage with Todd. Yet here they had RJ smiling and listening to the "All about Tea" story. YUCK!!!
For months I wanted to see a story written with Todd and RJ interacting and what we get is one line from RJ about Todd faking DID. When Tea entered the bar and greeted RJ did she even ask RJ about his niece, her supposedly best friend. Todd's whole stupid kidnapping story was the result of Rachel killing Georgie yet not one word about Rachel...because Tea is all about Tea.
December 17, 1998
Tea walks up to bar at Club Indigo as RJ greets Tea with that beautiful smile of his: "Tea, always good to seeyou. So what will it be? A seat at the bar or on the bar?"
Tea sits down: "Hmmm...I think I'll sit at the bar; but not because I didn't mean what I said last night."
RJ: "I never doubted it and I don't think anyone who was there at the time could either."
Tea: " It was a real epiphany for me RJ. I'm not going to feel sorry for myself anymore. I'm not going to play the victim anymore. I have everything I need right here. Champagne please and please join me."
RJ: "Ok, but uh are we celebrating the new you?"
Tea: "Yeah, my new life; my new outlook; my new job. I'm going to be working in your brother's office."
RJ laughs: "You're going to work for my brother?"
Tea: "Say hello to the new assistant district attorney."
RJ: "Oh. Well, that's great, great. Here you are.(as RJ raises his glass) But, now are you going to start hassling me like every suit in Llanview? They like to think I'm behind every crime in the area."
Tea: "Don't worry, I have bigger fish to fry."
RJ: "You look like the cat with several canaries just lining up in a row."
Tea: "You mean, gee whiz, who should I prosecute first?"
RJ: "Yeah, yeah that's it."
Tea: "Of course the person I really want to prosecute is Todd."
RJ: "That's too bad. I mean unless you can get an extradition from ? ... or whereever he is."
Tea: "Where ever he's flown off to Todd's brouoght along his own personal prison cell, trust me."
RJ: "But is that enough?"
Tea: "Do I have a choice? I can't stay stuck in my own fury and though it's aimed at Todd, the fact is Todd couldn't have gotten off all by himself."
RJ: "Nope, he had you and good ole Sam to help him with that."
Tea: "Sam acted out of complete innocence and dedication to Todd; and believe me Sam has suffered enough."
RJ: "Hmmm... so you'll assume Rappaport didn't know that Todd 's disorder was a crock?"
RJ then see Max pouring an expensive bottle of wine for himself and Blair and tells Max that the bottle will go on his tab; and RJ then shakes his head in disgust as Tea continues their conversation: "We know Blair aided and abetted. she sat on the tape that proved Todd was faking and she supposedly loves Sam."
RJ: "Where Blair is concerned Rappaport better watch his back."
Tea: "Max almost blew the whistle on Todd; he went so far as the witness stand."
RJ: "There's that look again. Canaries?"
Tea: "Not canaries, buzzards and maybe they won't get the last laugh." as Tea raises her glass to RJ. Tea then walks over to Max and Blair's table and bates Max and Blair about the fact that they knew all along that Todd was faking DID. She then goes back to the bar and says to RJ: "Keep that champagne on ice for me. I can't get Todd but maybe I can get the next best thing. I'm going to use your phone." RJ: "Please."
Later Tea has Max and Blair served subpoenas. The next day in (a href="purdee.html"> Hank's office....
