December Review:

Actually I thought that December was going to be gangbusters with RJ. Unfortunately it wasn't. After that scene in Bo's office where Bo was throwing RJ around, I didn't get to see much of RJ. He made his token appearances but I felt that December was more about Crazy Cramer Crew and Mel "the alcoholic", the man the Cramers all lean on.

I was thinking about this storyline, and at first it appeared to me that this would be about RJ; sadly, (and I may be wrong) but it looks as if it is beginning to be more about Bo and Nora. I don't like that at all.

Bo and Nora are nice, but not when they are taking time away from the Gannon Brothers. The PTB already have the beginnings of a storyline with "perfect Georgie" and the perfect couple; so leave them there. I see Bo's reaction to this crime but we don't get to see enough of RJs reaction to what is going on; how he feels; what is happening between him and Claude. I hope this storyline gets back to RJ and Hank.

Little Things that make me go Hmmmm...

12/12/97 Friday's show, what can I say? As I was watching Bo throw RJ up against that wall, I was thinking 'Oh no he didn't'. I couldn't believe what I had seen. I was furious. I was like, who does Bo Buchanan think he is. My first thought was RJ you better hit that man up with a police brutality charge; if Hank hadn't walked in no telling what would have happened. I mean Bo was over the top -- his need to pin this on RJ bugs the hell out of me. I feel like where does Bo get off -- he has yet to solve the crime that Max committed. Bo is more upset about Max's twins, than he was when his niece, Jessica, was almost killed in a fire that Max set accidentally; that Bo no longer investigates. Is Max any less guilty than RJ is? Didn't Max not mean for the fire to happen; his little greedy guts sabotaged the woman he loved. RJ wanted his partner back; RJ didn't intentionally set the kidnapping in motion anymore than Max intentionally set the warehouse on fire. Does it make either one of them right -- NO WAY. My gripe here is that Bo has a need to pin this on someone and his so called intuition tells him it is RJ. Where was his intuition when Todd killed Armitage. He didn't feel a need to go after Todd and throw him around? Todd is the man who tormented his fiance at the time, now his wife. Todd is responsible for two murders; because they were accidents does it make it ok? Where is all this aggression towards RJ coming from? Why didn't Bo get up in Claude's face -- the direct link is with Claude and the kidnapper.
If Bo keeps his treatment of RJ up like he is, he will be one more Buchanan that I don't like. The only Buchanans that I ever liked have been Bo and Jessica.
12/5/97 You certainly can't keep secrets in Llanview; there are leaks coming out of the PD but then it shouldn't be a suprise to anyone that RJ is a suspect. Hank told RJ himself; and he obviously told Carlotta, but not on the QT because Carlotta tells Tea. I wouldn't tell anyone anything in Llanview. Supposedly Bo has a tight lid on all this -- yeah right? 12/2/97I really felt for these two brothers today. Here Hank was willing to go to bat for RJ. As I was watching these two brothers together I wanted so much for RJ to let down. I think Hank really believes that RJ wasn't involved and I agree this time RJ is wrong. RJ really needs a friend right now and it can't be Hank. Hank was there for him but RJ just cannot allow his big brother in.

PUT A SOCK IN IT?!!!! I couldn't believe that I heard Hank say that. It was like watching a movie that had been dubbed. LOL!!!

I believe to some degree RJ feels that he is responsible for those kidnappings. What is he going to do? He just never figured that the people that were hired would go after Max's children. When RJ reacted the way he did, in anger, and all he could see was he wanted revenge. He had already lost control.

But the big issue here is "Why is Bo suddenly so intuitive?" He has yet to solve the warehouse fire or the Armitage killing but his senses are so keen that he can see RJs involvement just by something that Rachel says to him? He couldn't or maybe wouldn't see that Max would have had something to gain by sabotaging Maggie's warehouse? He wouldn't or couldn't see that Todd, who is Patrick's biggest enemy, was out for revenge against Patrick? Yet, he knows RJ like a book. He suspects that a blown business deal would warrant a warrant to look at RJs telephone records to pin this kidnapping on RJ? Name me one crime that Bo has solved recently.

I am not saying that RJ should get off scot clean. Are we going to be allowed to see RJ get his punishment come in another way? Like Max did -- losing his kids? Or tormented Todd -- but he has always been tormented. So what price has Todd paid? Or will this be the first crime Bo and Company has solved? Hmmmm.....

12/1/97
I am still behind. I didn't even get to see the confrontation between Max and RJ Thursday; don't know what I was thinking but I didn't even tape it. Busy, Busy! We had a housefull of family over that day, so naturally I got side-tracked. I Hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving; thank you, yes we did.

I have been falling behind in watching the show. What with the Niners on Monday Night Football and school on Tuesday, last week I could hardly remember what day I was watching from one day to the next.

RJ Gannon

12/12/97 Well Keystone Kops of Llanview have acquired Claude's phone records and from that they surmise that Claude's contact with the dead kidnapper leads back to RJ. Bo has RJ brought in for questioning. Bo asks him if he knows "?" RJ responds with is he into music; that would be the only way I would know him since I am into the music business. During Bo's interrogation of RJ, Bo becomes incensed. He's furious with RJ and he is so certain that RJ is behind the kidnapping. Bo not only gets up in RJ's but he grabs him by the collar and throws him up against this bench in his office. Hank walks in and breaks it up.
12/11/97 Bo has Claude brought in to question him about the kidnapping and wants Claude to name RJ as the a conspirator. RJ isn't too happy, customers are down at Club Indigo, and Rachel tries to cheer him up by telling him that Jacara soon may be back as his partner. Nora walks in to pick up Rachel for a date, and of course RJ thinks otherwise; Bo also shows up to question RJ. Nora advises RJ not to answer any questions without an attorney present so he looks to her; she doesn't oblige at first but when she sees that he plans to answer with out one present she gives in.
12/9/97 RJs phone records turn up a connection to Claude. In the meantime, Hank is over at Club Indigo trying to assure his brother that he in no way believes that RJ is guilty. Rachel tells RJ that some day they are going to see the RJ that she sees; that a year ago people would be sure to believe that RJ is involved. RJ and Rachel discuss the Jacara and RJ wonders with the headlines whether Jacara will back off. Rachel agrees to talk to Jacara in RJs defense. Rachel is pleased to find out that not only does Jacara not believe the headlines she is furious. To Jacara is just like always, a black man with dreads has got to be guilty. Rachel is also pleased to hear that her dad, Hank doesn't believe RJ is guilty either. In the meantime, Bo is telling Nora, who also doesn't believe RJ is capable of this crime to be prepared, as evidence begins to mount.
12/8/97 Tea insists that she had nothing to do with telling Todd that he was the suspect but RJ doesn't believe her. Tea says she just came by to offer to be his lawyer.
12/5/97Todd finds out that through a source at the LPD that RJ is a suspect and he is thrilled. In the meantime RJ is pressuring Claude to find out where those kids are; and Jacara is telling Hank she believes RJs concern for the twins is genuine. Tea is trying to find out the number one suspect is and she knows that Todd knows but Todd isn't telling. She finds out from Carlotta and heads straight to Club Indigo. Just as she walks in RJ is reading the headlines of the SUN. He blames Tea for leaking this to Todd; all Tea wants is to be his lawyer, guilty or not. That sends RJ off! Continues on to Monday:
12/4/97 RJ and Jacara are still at Rhodi's by this time they have taken a booth. RJ expresses his concern to Jacara regarding Max and Jacara's partnership. Jacara informs him that there is no partnership because Max is broke. RJ proposes that she and him hook up again on a trial basis. While discussing the possibilities Blair shows up, takes one look at RJ and heads toward him. She SCREECHES (like only Blair can screech) at him to get out of there. Nora the savior pulls her away. RJ informs Nora that he doesn't need her to run interference and Nora tells him that it was Blair that she was protecting. Somehow or another Jacara ends singing a gospel song as Max walks in. All Max's friends are concerned about him and while they are making a big to do and expressing their concern for Max, RJ sneaks out. Later we see Max on the docks with Claude; RJ wants answers that lead to Max's children but Claude has no idea. The guys he hired work independantly just like he does for RJ. He hired them to do a job and how they did it was up to them.

12/3/97 Several Llanview citizens were at Rhodi's when RJ showed up. He walked up to Renee who was behind the bar and expressed his sympathy regarding Max's children. Jacara was there and he also expressed his concern for her. 12/2/97RJ is not looking too happy just before his brother shows up. He immediately jumps to the defensive with Hank as he walks into RJs office. "I wondered how long it would take for you to get here."
Hank: "Looks like a lot of trouble is brewing across town, Little Brother."
RJ laughs: "I bet."
Hank: "but I don't believe a word of it."
RJ sarcastically laughs: "Of course, you are here for the ambience."
Hank: "I mean it RJ."
RJ: "Cut the bull Hank, this is Llanview. No evidence, no proof, Hey lets pin it on RJ."
Hank: "Come on, put a sock in it. I don't believe you had anything to do with this kidnapping, but you have to help me out. Now, can you work with me on this?"
RJ: "Buchanan and company want to pin this kidnapping on me. What's the presumed evidence?"
Hank: "Jacara, that whole BlueJay Indigo Rodi's thing."
RJ: "You've got to be kidding me. Man, I half way to forgetting all about that. Seriously.Look I began to get over myself the moment I realized that there is room for two music clubs in Llanview.
Hank: "I know better RJ, I am your brother."
RJ sighs heavily: "It's too early for a drink, how about some coffee?"
Hank: "Jacara and Blue Jay meant a lot to you; too much for you to forget about it so easily."
RJ: "Look, I'm a realist. BlueJay and Indigo is over, it's time to move on."
Hank: "Without a fight?"
RJ: I fought as long as I could. Max and Jacara's partnership was a done deal before the kidnapping. If my plan was to squeeze Max I would have done it before they signed the contract."
Hank: "Contracts are filled with out clauses. Jacara got out of yours after how many months? After her experience with you - you better believe that she made damn certain there were outs."
RJ: "What are you trying to say?"
Hank: "Just that I can see how Bo thinks there is a motive."
RJ: "and you don't?"
Hank: "No. So help me prove it to him."
RJ: "If Bo thinks that a blown business deal is motive to kidnap two kids, well nothing I can say can change his mind. I'm his fall guy."
I didn't get the rest but Hank went on tell RJ that the case was still young and that they could prove that he wasn't involved. RJ is not the only suspect as he tells RJ that Bo is also considering Tommy Gregory. RJ wonders if he should be honored that he is put in the same category as this New York hood. RJ wanted to know why Hank was going to bat for and Hank tells him that he has let RJ take the heat too many times that he didn't deserver to. RJ says that maybe there was masterplan and that whoever kidnapped the kids acted on their own. Hank says I am trying to go to bat for you why won't you let me. RJ tells him he thinks Hank was real good this time trying to make it look like he was trying to help. RJ tells him Hank that Hank doesn't trust him. Hank tells RJ that he is wrong this time and that he hopes that RJ realizes it before it is too late. RJ tells Hank that he doesn't need his help and will never need his help. Hanks storms out.
