Allison Joy Langer

_____Allison Joy Langer was born on May 22, 1974. Although born in Columbus, Ohio, she and her family moved to Los Angeles when A.J. (the name given to her by her all boy little league team because Allison sounded too feminine) was only 5. Her acting career began, sort of, when she was 8. After watching Mary Poppins, she, with the encouragement of her brother Kirk, decided to see if she too could fly by jumping off her parent's second floor balcony. Of course she failed as she painfully hit the ground.

_____But it wasn't until 9th grade while at a high school speech meet that her acting career seemed to become a potential reality. An algebra teacher who had connections with an agent was impressed with A.J.'s speaking abilities and recommended the acting idea. Although this is common of children in the Valley, A.J. was unlike the other children when she landed her first role in FOX's Drexell's Class as Melissa Drexell. Later that same year she landed a role as Alice in Wes Craven's, The People Under The Stairs. These, in addition to many guest appearances on TV sitcom's such as Wonder Years and Blossom, led to her getting the role of Rayanne Graff in ABC's My So Called Life in 1992.

_____A.J. continued to do many more guest appearances in shows such as In The Heat Of The Night, Beverly Hills 90210, Parker Lewis Can't Lose, amongst others. In 1996 she landed the role of Utopia, the president's daughter in the futuristic thriller Escape From L.A.

_____A.J. continues to live at home with her family in California's San Fernando Valley. She has been with her boyfriend, Chris Frith-Smith, since a post prom party in 1992. She says she plans to marry in 2001, and Chris, a law student and minor league baseball player, believes it will be him.
