As the cult horror classic runs strong today with 7 movies and the
upcoming "Freddy vs. Jason" movie it wasn't always like this for the Horror
icon. "The Nightmare on Elm Street" idea was rejected several times before
Bob Shaye of New Line decided to take the movie and produce one of the most
loved horror characters of all time. Even when Bob decided to have the movie
made it took at least 5 years because of budgets and etc... It might be
because of Freddy and The Nightmare series that New Line is still in business.
Unlike some of the silent role killers, Freddy was different. He brought a
personality of a sadistic mind that knew what you feared and used it to
draw power into him by the screams of his victims. His weapon, his wise
cracks all lead for fame for the burned one. So sit back and welcome to my
Nightmare....(Trademark Freddy laughter).
