Here we will learn about how our favorite heros were portrayed in various shows and comics here in America.
I will rate each of the portrayals on a scale of 1-10. Then I will list reasons for my conclusion. Ready? Then scroll, SCROLL!

Mega Man Portrayals

Captain N: The Game Master
Well, Mega Man looks nothing the way he should. The way he was depicted has left many unhappy, myself included. However, you have to accept what the producers had to work with. When the show started, only Mega Man (1) was out, and the manual for it was horribly inaccurate. Besides, Capcom supposedly wasn't helping them with the development on the cartoon. The producers had very little to work with.
But, they did relate the fact that there
are other video worlds(Megaland, Hyrule, etc.) out there, and tied it together very well. Also, they had the heroes work together forming the N-Team. It had a well developed plot, but executed it only decently.
However, all in all, this was a great cartoon.
Mega Man was, of all things,
green. Maybe crack was legal then or something, I dunno. But, I can understand Mandi's explanation. She believes the TV's were adjusted wrong, making our little blue bomber green. Also, he was only about 2 feet tall, whereas he is actually 4'4". Also, he didn't form plasma cannons, he just had shooters mounted on his wrists. And a visor, of all things. And the plasma looks different sometimes. (Even Simon doesn't really look right.)
Oh well. For a first try at it, I like this cartoon.
Pros: Tied together video worlds logically, and had a great plot.
Cons: Poorly developed in the way of character designs.
Scale: 6 out of 10.
Mega Man
The title sums it up! But man! The cartoon is awful! This thing was completely of course in both plot and character designs. But it was good in some areas. For example, most of the robots act like they are just robots. Like, they don't get scared when someone goes boo! Other times they don't. They act like it hurts when they get shot once in awhile. Another time I saw Ice Man getting jealous of Air Man.
Also, the characters were
not sized properly! Mega Man's height was taken to the other extreme from Captain N-He was doubled instead of halved! Mega Man is almost 8 feet tall here, as most of the robot masters were. Also he has muscles. How dorky on a robot. I like the skinny, normal look on him better.
One of the worst things, Break Man was with
Wily! Sigh. I think they got the hint he was evil too. Mega Man 5 gave everyone that idea, what with the fake Protoman.
Also, the robots can shoot weapons strangely. Mega Man shoots strangely-sized plasma sometimes-it could be a huge burst(NOT a super shot!) or a continuous beam. Also, he never charges! Flip-Top is present in the cartoon, so you know Mega Man should have a Mega Buster!(Flip Top and the Mega Buster were both introduced in
Mega Man 4.) And the master weapons! Mega Man doesn't even have to beat the robot master to get it! He just touches them wierd, and he has their weapon chip! Also, he never changes colors when using them.
But, they aren't all bad. Sometimes it shows key info, such as how robots clank when they hit ground after a jump, so you know they are metal. And, some people think Mega Man is a human(He was, but not now.) The cartoons show him fighting underwater as well, indicating he is a robot with no need for air. And the animation was very fluid and smooth.
Now, the bad points wouldn't be
so bad, but they were supposed to be being helped by Capcom! The designers for Mega Man! But, it looks like Capcom had little or nothing in the way of input for them. Oh well.
Pros: Great animation, and some plot devices were accurate.
Cons: Characters were designed wrong and robots acted like humans. Also, some characters were allied with the wrong side.
Scale: 4 out of 10.
Sonic the Hedgehog Portrayals

Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog
Adventures my ass. This cartoon bombed. First off, only Sonic and Tails were in it! Sally appeared once. She didn't even talk. Where are the Freedom Fighters? Secondly, Robotnik acts stupid and has two of his robots, Scratch and Grounder, for sidekicks. The cartoon isn't very serious, and Scratch and Grounder act like they have emotions as well. There were about a billion episodes, but I prefer quality to quantity. That about sums it up.
Pros: Great for insomniacs.
Cons:Let me take off my shoes...
Scale: 2 out of 10.

Sonic the Hedgehog(SatAM)
This cartoon leaves no ass to kick. It almost makes up for Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog. Number one, all of the Freedom Fighters are there! Wahoo! And it shows them being serious about Robotnik once in awhile, like trying to sabotage something about Robotropolis, like the power or a factory of some sort.
And the plots are excellent! Like when Sally was kidnapped and replaced by the robot Sally, Tails knew what to look for about her being kidnapped and changed with the robot. And how the robot didn't have real emotions! It's
perfect!
The only bad point is they didn't make more. It had about as many episodes and Captain N did, maybe less.
Pros: Everything rules!
Cons: Too few episodes.
Scale: 9 out of 10.

Sonic the Hedgehog(comics)
Once again, the developers of the comic were on the ball! This is just about better than the show, but I'll leave that up to you. Many of you will be happy to see Knuckles make his appearance in these, and eventually he got his own series! All of the Freedom Fighters, Robotnik,
everyone is there. And the comics use the characters right, not giving them dumb lines, like Antoine saying something in normal talk instead of using his accent.
If the comics ever had any faults, it was towards when they first came out. They were almost a direct takeoff from 'The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog'. But at least then the Freedom fighters were there. After awhile, they began to re-format it to go along the SatAM episodes. Perfect!
Pros: EVERYTHING!
Cons: You have to wait for them. Bummer.
Scale: 10 out of 10!!!

An' that's the bottom line, cuz Stone Cold said so!
