who ever reads what's written here, anyway?Glenn's 'human' characteristics and unpretentious manner eventually grew on Sale's viewers, but he would not have achieved this without his perseverance. During his earlier, regrettable efforts at hosting the show, many people were quick to make comparisons between Glenn's 'fish out of water' technique and Tony's over-confident over-performing. Critics predicted doom for the show, Derryn Hinch was convinced that the 7pm timeslot was now his, and pronunciation tutors were excited about the millions that they could make from this potential student. However, the last laugh belongs to him; the viewers have warmed to him, he has gradually learnt the fundamentals of hosting a TV show, and he drives the program that continually receives outstanding ratings.

He ain't perfect; he bumbles, but, hey, we love him for it!

Born in Adelaide on 21 November 1955, and educated at Daws Road High School, Glenn worked as an Engineering Draftsman for the Housing Trust in SA from 1974 until 1979, when he found his way into the media. His first job, at radio station 3CA (Bendigo), was the first sign of his ability to find himself in the top jobs wherever he goes. Not only was he an announcer for the station, but also found himself as studio manager.

He moved on to radio stations 3TR (Trarlgon) and 3BO (Bendigo), where he stayed until 1985. During this time, he also moved into regional television, starting on TV8 (Central Victoria) in 1980. He became the host of a music video program called Breezen, and, not content with merely appearing in front of the camera, was also the producer. During his time at the station, he also hosted and produced children's programs: Super Six's Saturday Show, Super Six's Holiday Show, and Kids Only. On top of that was yet another music video show, Off the Record.

It was one thing for him to be in charge of programs for a particular company, but, in 1989, he decided to take the big step away from the television station, to run his own production company, Q Media Productions. In 1990, he entered into another business venture when he became a partner in a Mildura restaurant called The Mediterranean. In 1991, he out-auditioned such contenders as Terry Willessee, Mark Mitchell and Denis Walter, for the job on Sale. The big step into national, networked television seemed true to Glenn's form. It was no regrettable, Daddo-style, lets - really - embarrass - you - when - you're - a -big - star - with - a - meaningful - career - by - dragging - out - a - clip - from - this - show sort of job, it was the big gig, it was Sale!

His identity has become so established that he has made such as guest appearances as one on All Together Now playing himself, one on The Late Show playing none other than... himself, and the all-so challenging role on Frontline of... HIMSELF! He has also appeared on a series of outback adventure documentaries, and on the 1996 Comic Relief special. Eric Bana's regular impersonations of him,, and his series of outback adventure specials, also ensure his immortality!

Sale is a show whose purpose seems to be turning 'ordinary' people into 'stars.' Glenn is a person who seems to be able to credit his success to being 'there' and being 'him.' In their own special ways, those purposes have become companions, and Glenn has established a unique identity in Sale's history.
