Nicky BuckleyAt the end of 1993, Sale's more conservative, game-driven era had been well-established. After Jo Bailey had been replaced by a string of guest hostesses, the producers needed to find somebody who would fit into the show, and not disturb its flow or format. To add a spark to the show, they also needed someone with natural, but not over-the-top presence. Nicky met these requirements well, and she found her own special way to enter the show 'peacefully,' but inject some personality back into it.

Like Jo, Nicky had a background in modelling, and, also like Jo, was a model on the show before becoming hostess. Unlike Jo, though, she had a break between being a model and becoming hostess. She first appeared on Sale during Alyce's years, and her most (ahem!) 'notable' task from her Sale hiatus, was as sidekick to Greg Evans on Blind Date, Network 10's 1991 revival of the former hit game-show, Perfect Match. Some may suggest that this job was useful training for Sale. Where (and with whom) could one find a better place to learn how to add character where it's really needed?!

She was a guest hostess on the show at the end of 1993, and began to do this job permanently at the start of the 1994 season. At this time, she was also the weather reader for Channel Nine in Melbourne, and has also done radio-announcing work. Her husband, Murray Bingham, was also a model for the show.

In 1997, Nicky and Murray became parents for the first time, welcoming their son, Cooper Alan Bingham, to the world. Nicky chose to work on the program throughout her pregnancy, requiring designers to create a number of 'maternity wear'-sized evening gowns. Members of the public were quite vocal in expressing their concern, and, in some cases, disgust, towards her "flaunting her pregnancy." These concerns were covered in newspapers, and on A Current Affair (living up to its consistently-high standard of journalistic excellence and relevance). The only notable achievement of the fuss was the Nine Network being swamped with phone calls and faxes of heartfelt support.

In 1998, Nicky gave birth to her second child, Jasper, with a minumum amount of interference from the wowsers. Did they learn their lesson? Were they exhausted from blowing off so much steam the first time? Did they find something else about which to kick up a fuss?

In mid-1999 Nicky took over Alyce Platt's accolade as the longest-serving Sale hostess, having past the 5 1/2 year mark, but die-hard Alyce fans will be quick to point out that Sparky still holds the record for the number of consecutive episodes. Whose stupid idea was maternity leave, anyway?!?

Nicky's 'resignation' from the show was announced during the 1999/2000 hiatus, but it was later revealled that she was dumped from the show as part of its 're-vamp'.
