These are water tupelos along what is marked the Slough Trail, if I recall correctly. Several new trails have been cleared along the lake and through the surrounding woods. Drive slowly into the park and you'll see the pull-offs on the edge of the road and perhaps even some of the wooden structures which are being installed. |

The base of this tupelo tree has opened up, forming a small cave for critters. This particular area floods and drains as the rains come and pass. Much of the park is likely inaccessible during storms, as portions of the main road and certainly trails such as the Slough Trail, disppear beneath intermittent streams and expanding ponds. |
