* Anabel won in Tokyo (pc) defeating Sonfo 3-6 6-2 6-4. Sonfo was leading the match 6-3 2-6 4-1 but world number one fought back to get revenge for the US Open final defeat. * Jacs made debut reaching a final. The Philippine was playing just his first 2 tournaments, and after a early defeat at Tokyo he went to play to Lecce, where he reached the final, losing to Steven in 3 great sets. * Anabel has pulled out from Liepzig tournament with a cervical injured. The Spaniard who just won her 13 th tournament at Tokyo is having this problem since the US Open final. * Sonfo breaks into top 10. The US Open champion has needed just 6 tournaments to make the top 10. He is having and incredible run and is a potential top 4 player in the future, but he debut on tour was late and he can be problems to reach the top 8 and thus become one of the masters contenders. * Alx bad form continues. With the qf defeat at tokyo at the hands of Sonfo, this is the 9th week that Alx doesnt win a tournament. Since he won at Knnoke he has reached the finals at Stanford, San Diego, New Haven & Bahia, but he got defeats in all of them. He almost lost all the chances to finish the year as the top player and he could have his ranking in a thread at the beginning of the 2002 season * Since Anabel has pulled out & Randy is not commited, Alx Williamslovers & Sonfo are the maximum favorites to get the Leipzig tournament, which will be played today.
