The Capital of Texas Heat, Inc., a not-for-profit Texas Corporation, established in March of 1990, was organized to further the education and career development of Austin area youth. By enhancing their athletic abilities for individual and team success, academic support services and programs concerning health, physical fitness, and drug education. This is achieved through a comprehensive track program covering all the fundamentals of the sport and educational seminars.

The Capital of Texas Heat Track Team was formed by a group of concerned parents and coaches. Just as our athletes have a dream, the parents and coaches had a dream. Each dream is a series of interesting, varied exercises and up-to-date ideas presented in an attractive, lucid format. The format presented to these athletes combines adequate practice in fundamentals with ample opportunity for creativity in the classroom as well as in competition. These athletes are given the opportunity to practice at a superior track facility. The creative urge is strong in parents, children and sponsors. The Capital of Texas Heat, Inc. provides ample opportunity for athletes and students to excel academically and to learn to apply these skills to their daily lives.

The Head Coach is Coach Leslie Riggins. Coach Riggins has been involved with Amateur Athletic Programs since 1984 and is certified as a Level I Track and Field Coach by the Athletic Congress

Combining interesting, informative material with carefully selected coaching practices and a comprehensive review of each athlete's ability, Coach Riggins provides a functional, flexible and practical approach to our individual athletes.

"Texas Heat" is a member of AAU (Amateur Athletic Union), one of the largest not-for-profit volunteer organizations in the United States dedicated solely to the promotion and development of amateur sports and physical fitness programs. The showcase event of the AAU Youth Sports Program is the AAU/USA Junior Olympic Games. A number of college coaches and recruiters attend the AAU Junior Olympic Games, making the meet a focus for scouts looking to attract athletes to their schools.
