This is a first person report of a member who was victimized by a gem store. The text is quoted directly with no editing on our part. This is not the only store to use violence, though this is the only report of violence happening while trying to get a refund. Always exercise caution when approaching gem stores, and travel in pairs.

"Here is my story:

When I arrived at the Universal, I asked there for the manager of the store. They didn't want that I go into the store. Than on the left "the son of the manager" arrived. He asked: "What do you want". I asked the man if he was the same owner of the majestic. He was an aggressief man. The only thing he did was shouting. He invited me into his office, left from the store. 3 or 4 bodyguards with him. I sat down in the chauts. All the time I asked the man the same questions. If he was the same owner as the majestic, the mans name, bussinescard, number of the chamber of commerce, address of the store. The only think I did was sitting, speaking on normal tone. I just wanted that information or my money. During our "conversation" he was shouting and was aggressief. He pulled my noise two times, hit me on my shoulder two times. Than he walked outside and came back 1 minute later. He said: "you've got 10 minutes and than you have to leave". So I sat down into the chauts and said: "just give me the information and I will leave at once". Than 2 bodyguards and "the son of the owner" grape me. 1 bodyguard pull my T-shirt almost over my head (nearly broken), the other one pulled my arm and "the son" hit me somewhere. Now I was outside and walked outside the gate. Still asking for the same questions and why he was using force. Than he kicked my dick and said: "I don't want to talk to you, I only want to fight you, I want to kill you". There were now many bodyguards surrounding the place. I think there were about 15 of them. Some of them where pushing and intimidating me. Than I went to my tuk-tuk. I wrote down the name of the store. Before I get into the tuk-tuk, a man hit me in my face. Then I leave.

The Group instructed this member to contact the embassy, and this is what happened:

"I called the embassy when I left Bangkok. I explained them the situation. They made notice of it. They have my name, pasportnumber, and more. They told me not to worry, but when there is a moment that I don't feel save or have the idea they are chaissing me, than I must call them and I get all the help I need. But for now they can't do anything. I was also with them the first victim who was beaten down. But they know of the scam."
