"Poetry is food for the soul!"

Senses
If I could feel your pain
What would I feel?
My body twisting in agonised contortions?
My bones bending and splintering under too much stress?
My skin burning and bleeding leaving my flesh raw and exposed?
I would happily feel it
For you
If I could see your pain
What would I see?
ghostly figures, shadowy, drifting by?
Grotesque faces tortured beyond belief?
People turning their backs, ignorance, brutality, threatening?
I would happily see it
For you
If I could hear your pain
What would I hear?
Ghostly whispers, urging me on?
Nagging voices telling me what I must do?
The shrieks and wails of tortured souls?
I would happily hear it
For you
If I could taste your pain
What would I taste?
The sourest most bitter taste imaginable?
A poison so strong?
Or nothing?
I would happily taste it
For you
Why?
To see you smile
To hear you laugh
To watch you sleep a peaceful sleep,
The sleep of a person without a tortured mind.
