Build your own Hamster Wheel.. |
Using either the bottom of a small bucket or a whip cream container you can make a simple hamster wheel. You will want to clean them really well with lots of hot water. Then you will have to drill a hole in the center. You will need some corrugated card board to line the wheel. Measure and cut the card board out and glue it in the wheel with a water and flour mixture. Then attach it to the wire cage or plastic bin with washers and some nuts and bolts. If you don’t have these there are other ways to do so. You will have to be creative to think of these but there are possible ways. The cardboard might get wet or chewed on, so instead you can use duct tape with tooth picks or small dowels. Simply measure the duct tape to go around the whole wheel one and one fourth times. Then cut the tooth picks and dowels so they fit the depth of the wheel. Then place the tooth picks or small dowels on the duct tape every half or whole inch. Then place the duct tape on the wheel. Make sure none of the duct tape goes over the edge, If it does you will want to trim it very closely so your hamster wont chew it. If any of the toothpicks are sticking out trim them also so your hamster doesn’t get hurt and so your hamster wont chew on it. If your hamster starts chewing on the duct tape replace it immediately with corrugated cardboard. Have Fun!!! |
