A Little Bit about Faerieland
'Faerieland' is our personal site that tells you a bit about our personal lives and everything related with it. That's the description in one sentence. But actually it has more meanings for us, me and Dennis. As you might already knew, Dennis and I are international couple that met each other on the internet and got married and now we are facing many difficulties to be together. We are "separated" half way around the world and we are struggling with complicated immigration stuff, but it really does not reduce our loves and our wills to get together side by side under one roof.
Being far apart from each other is not an easy thing to do and we need many 'supports' to stay strong and not to lose hopes. Like many other couples do, we need a home where we can stay and live together, and because of our special circumstances, we built one on the internet. That's one of our reasons to create this website, a personal one for us to share our stories and stuff with our friends and relatives and also with the entire world. We regard this website as our "home" for now where we can be "together" virtually.
A website needs a name and I spent quite some times before I find the perfect one. I used to name it "Dennis and Ida Homepage" but later I found it to be too 'generic' and not unique at all. Finally I decided to get new name that can really represent ourselves. So I called it 'Faerieland'.
'Faerieland' is our land, where we can 'stay together' all the time no matter how far we are in real life. It's just like our dreamland, with small house in countryside, and rainbow that's always in our sky. We love countryside and we plan to live in country area when we get together in real world. 'Faerieland' comes from the word 'fairy' which has close meaning with our family name. I change it a bit into 'faerie' to make it more unique and interesting... (I hope it does... :o)
I love country graphics so I decided to have country theme across 'Faerieland'. I got great helps from many country graphic artists on the internet that are very generous to share their works with me. Thanks a lot you all !
I published this site on our first wedding anniversary on November 23, 2003. This is my wedding anniversary present for my beloved husband, Dennis. I LOVE YOU !
