CentreStage is a self-motivated student organisation initiated by students of Theatre Nepean's Bachelor of Arts (Performance) degree at the University of Western Sydney.
As young emerging artists, we at Theatre Nepean recognise that it is our passion, dedication to our craft, and a strong entrepreneurial skill, that will help create our own future success as actors and artsworkers in Australia. This success begins here with CentreStage.
Established as a fundraising body in 1997 by second year performance students, CentreStage raises funds for the purposes of staging and promoting Theatre Nepean's graduation productions in a major Sydney City venue, as well as at the Playhouse at the UWS Kingswood campus and the Centre for Contemporary Performance at the UWS Werrington South Campus.
The CentreStage objective is to showcase Theatre Nepean, its graduates and students, to both Western Sydney and the Inner-City, allowing a much wider audience of Sydney theatregoers to catch a glimpse of Australia's up-and-coming performers.
The students behind the CentreStage initiative are given an invaluable experience, providing insight and hands on experience into what it takes to produce theatre, along with the other advantages of training at Theatre Nepean where students receive training not only in performance, but also in production, direction, design, publicity and marketing.
Theatre Nepean graduates are renowned not only for their performing talents, but also their entrepreneurial spirit and their determination to create their own performance opportunities utilising the technical skills attained during their training at Theatre Nepean. A number of graduates have successfully produced and staged their own productions around Australia.
