- Mike Faulkners excellent site about the history and heritage of the "Cathedral graveyard", which was actually in existence long before the Cathedral itself was even thought of! (the graveyard, not the site!) Really good panoramas, and a searchable database for those looking for relatives from the time. - Now superceded by this one. Bit dated, gives an overview of how the society was started, its original aims, etc. Some good pictures of the stable yard before any development took place. - No relation, but he has some pictures of the "Dockers Umbrella", sadly now just a memory preserved in pictures. - More in-depth look at the overhead railway, focussing pictorially on the stations on the route... even Dingle station, the southern terminus of the Overhead Railway, which was underground! - Ghost Stories by the Grand Master of Liverpools darker side, This site keeps me entertained for hours on dark, windy nights, and now it can do the same for you too! - Great resource for finding out about more of of Liverpools darker tales of the past... - A site that takes a station-by-station approach to the story of the LOR, and has plenty of good pictures. - Group involved in the restoration and preservation of the heritage of Liverpool. Good website, even has its own in house poet (!) - An extremely in-depth look at the Castles of Wales. Just about any Castle that has any remains whatsoever can be found on this site. - One of the most interesting sites here. Reason being it shows the Wapping Tunnel, which streches from Edge Hill to the rivers edge. The "Authorities" don't let anyone down here, so these pics are extra important. This is one of the most important parts of Liverpools history, and no-one is allowed down there to look at it, so these pics will have to do! - This site has pages on all the World Heritage Sites. There's some amazing stuff here, a lot of it critically endangered if not destroyed (thinking of the Buddha's of Bamiyan - which the Taliban decided to blow up) Well, certainly one of them, and one of the best. This guy paints some amazing pictures... oh, did i mention that he also has the dubious honour of being my dad! So take a look. |
