The Bourtreehillians: Hidden Structures #2
< ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->
With the last great fall of masonry in Bourtreehill, we are forced to quickly delve deeper into the visible history of the many elusive hidden structures of Bourtreehill.

Some are hidden beneath the trees while others sit incongruously under the noses of Bourtreehillians along the old paths which pepper the estate.

Without giving away exact locations, I must highlight several largely unknown structures or features in or around Bourtreehill.

A wall and pillar sit in a long stretch of undergrowth. Comprised of late 19th, early 20th century brick (possibly fired at Bourtreehill Brick Works) this small wall appears to be the remains of a garden wall. Of course it could be argued that the entire estate is a 300 acre naturalised garden. But immediately outside the mansion house was a small border feature and it is this that survives in part beneath the thick scrub.
