Welcome to Marshall's Polar Ops Page (POPDIV)
Here you will find some pictures and lots of links to sites that describe what I'll be doing through 2004. Click on the Polar Ops Logo for the USCG Polar Operations Division official website. Lots of cool info there like deployment updates!
Flying in Antarctica will be very different. We use skis so that we can land just about anywhere. Not a lot of prepared landing sites out there and sometimes we land on icebergs!
When we deploy, we'll be on one of the 3 Coast Guard icebreakers; the POLAR STAR, the POLAR SEA, or the HEALY. We will either go to the Arctic Circle or perform resupply missions to Antarctica at McMurdo Scientific Station.
