Wilderness Trip 2002
The wilderness trip to Harriman state park was wonderful! It brought the kids from the Bronx Guild including myself, something new to experience outside of the city. It builds a lot of community within the students. In my crew everyone helped each other out. If you were to look at us you’d think we were a family. That was just great! One of the scariest moments was when we had to do something called a solo. That meant that for an hour or so you were by yourself left only with a journal to write in. This trip was a liberating experience that changed my life forever. It showed me that regardless to what you contribute to a group what you do makes a difference. Honestly in the end all the complaining, pain, and suffering was well worth it. You only get to have a first experience once and this was one of them. - Mary Ann (9th Grade Student at the Bronx Guild)
