Daoine Sidhe |
Daoine Sidhe (deena shee) - The Faery folk of Ireland; dwindled gods of the early inhabitants of Ireland. They are supposedly fallen angels, too good for hell. They were usually of human size, but it is not uncommon for them to be more then human stature and at times small in size. Their inhabitations were generally underground or under water, in the green raths or under the loughs (lakes) or in the sea. Of the Daoine Sidhe, two distinct classifications were extensively noted: the Heroic Faery and the Medieval Fairy; both greatly intercoursed with humans. |
