Born in San Francisco, Golden Brooks exhibited her athletic prowess as a figure skating competitor and won several trophies in a well-rounded upbringing which involved ballet, gymnastics, church plays, and eventually the world of theater. A graduate of the University of California at Berkeley with a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology with an emphasis on media representation of minorities, Golden Brooks also holds a Master's Degree from Sarah Lawrence College.

She has used her extensive training from Berkeley, where she also minored in theater, to capture roles in numerous high-profile feature films, including "Girl 6" directed by Spike Lee, "Time Code 2000" directed by Mike Figgis and starring Holly Hunter, Salma Hayek and Jeanne Tripplehorn, "Hell's Kitchen" and the upcoming release "The Imposter," in which she appears opposite Gary Sinise and Vincent D'Onofrio.

Brooks has an impressive list of television credits which includes her series regular role on Showtime's "Linc's," as well as guest-starring roles on "The Jamie Foxx Show" for The WB, "The Parkers" for UPN, "Adventures of Pete and Pete" for Nickelodeon and "Promised Land" for CBS.

Born in San Francisco, Brooks was raised both there and in Los Angeles. At an early age, her mother encouraged Brooks to participate in a wide variety of endeavors, including gymnastics, ballet and theater, and the youngster soon found herself performing in numerous church plays, where she first learned to love appearing in front of an audience.

A dedicated volunteer, Brooks has worked with inner city youths to help improve their performances in school through English, poetry and empowerment training. She is also very active in sports and enjoys horseback riding, ice skating and gymnastics. Brooks resides in Los Angeles with her cat, Saeku.
