| ![]() from www.unproductions.com PERSONAL Born in Great Britain, of Jamaican and English descent Now resides in Los Angeles ACCOMPLISHMENTS Downtown Julie Brown's easy on-camera style was developed in England where she hosted a children's quiz show called "Crackerjack", and served as pop music correspondent for Britain's live TV AM (Britain's answer to "Good Morning America"). In 1986, while working as a Video Jockey (VJ) for Britain's Music Box cable TV show, her trademark exuberance and enthusiasm, not to mention her eye- catching wardrobe, were noticed by MTV executives. They immediately brought her state-side to join their established team of VJ's. Her particular style and personality inspired the development of Club MTV. Every week through 1993 on "American Dance Traxx", she counted down America's hottest contemporary dance hits for millions of listeners throughout the country. The three-hour program featured the latest domestic and imported releases, special re-mixes, and exclusive, revealing interviews with the superstar artists behind the hits. Hailed as the "Dick Clark" of the video age, she has hosted numerous awards shows, including cable television's "1990 Ace Awards", the "1992 BAMIE Awards", and the "1992 New Music Awards." The highly sought-after entertainer has also hosted dozens of televised music specials, concerts, and various sporting events highlighted by her coverage of Super Bowl XXV and Super Bowl XXVI. She has helped define the American and International dance scenes and is highly identifiable with both teens and young adults. Her success has led to numerous guest appearances on talk and interview programs such as the "Arsenio Hall Show", the "Joan Rivers Show", "Donahue", "Ricky Lake", "Leeza Gibbons", and "Dini Petty" (Toronto, Canada). Her solid reputation, vibrant personality, and high profile, as featured in TV Guide and People, has led her to commercial endorsements for Pepsi, MCI and NFL Properties. Best known as MTV's hottest VJ and host of "Club MTV", she has covered major fashion and entertainment events worldwide as contributing reporter for the syndicated television show Inside Edition. In addition, she has been a Sports Entertainment Reporter for E.S.P.N.'s "Monday Night Football." She debuted on the big screen in her first feature film entitled Fist Of The North Star. This film, directed by Tony Randall of Hell Raiser fame, was released in February of 1995. She has also appeared in 1995 episodes of "Burke's Law" (an Aaron Spelling Production) |
