FUAD AND THE FEZTONES – In The Valley Of The Kings EP Ricochet
Sound (RS-2) 2002 Wylde! That’s what I felt when I
first rolled this platter on my turntable! Four crazy tunes by this brand new
Canadian frat/RnB band and a party feeling that is obvious in all tunes! You
will recognize a familiar voice in here: Bobby Beaton, himself from the
mighty Gruesomes! The 45 starts with a dance frat song titled “Little Sally
Walker” and continue with a shaking instro full of hammond grooves (Allah
Mode) written by another Gruesomes member! “Valley Of The Kings” on the
B-Side is a sax-driven frat instro and “You Wish” a frat vocal song, both
written by Bobby Beaton. Don’t miss that 45 for any reason! Visit the
Gruesomes for more info or send an email to Ricochet Sound at: Ricochetsound@yahoo.ca 8 out of

THE NAPOLEONS Vs. DR. REVERB – Split EP Tombstone (T-78) 2002 This is the latest effort by Eric
Geevers and his friends in The Netherlands. That’s the 2nd
appearance by the Napoleons (as far as I know) on vinyl. There are four songs
on the first side – one instro and three vocal ones, all close to the 80s
wild garage, the 77 punk feeling and the Dead Moon spirit! On the other side
there are Dr. Reverb, an alternate (one more!) band by Eric Geevers! Two
songs, one raw trashy garage punk and one surf instro. Both sides of the 45 are recorded to 4-track
and mixed to mono. Check out the Links pages for more info about Eric Geevers
(Danno) and his bands! Hi Eric! 7 out of 10 |
THE NEDERBIETELS – Can’t You See EP Klootzak (KLZ 001) 2002 THE NEDERBIETELS – Kejje Nagaan/Comin’ Home Tear It Up (TIUP 008) 2002 This is the brand new nederbeat
sound! Brand new? Well, maybe not as new,
as you will be pleased to recognize the Motions, The Outsiders and Q
65 in here! The Nederbietels sound showcases the ultimate 60s beat sound with
vintage instruments and playing: Both 45s seem to be recorded in
the 60s era! There is nothing more to say about the Nederbietels but this:
Get these 45s without second thought! 9 out of 10 |
