LES SEXAREENOS – We Gonna Ball EP
Corduroy
(CORD 103) 2002
This crazy RnB combo from Quebec
has already released two LPs and several 45s that showcase a real RnR
attitude! That’s exactly what Rock And Roll was meant to be: Wild And
Untamed! On side one the Sexareenos play a wild RnB tune in their well known
trashy sound. The 2nd side opens with a raw 60s sounded RnB anthem
titled “Why Why Why”. Simple and tight! The 3rd and last song is
the cover on the Kenny and The Kasuals “Journey To Tyme”. One of the most
authentic covers on that song I’ve ever heard. The Sexareenos capture the
spirit and they showcase real garage punk sound! No cheating no mimic
playing!

THE EMBROOKS
– Jack/Dawn Breaks Through
Circle (CPW S102) 2002
The Embrooks last LP on Voxx
Records was one of the best beat records I’ve listened to for long time. It’s
not the sound that I use to prefer, meaning that I prefer a wild farfisa and
fuzz garage punk tune than a mod beat song, but in the case of The Embrooks,
things seem to be different. Their sound is always pleasant to my ears,
mainly because of their solid sound and their fine melodies.
This 45 continues on the same root of
the Voxx LP. The production is also great (Toe Rag, ok?), so go ahead!

THE SLOW SLUSHY BOYS – Shotgun
Boo-Ga-Loo/Why (I Want To Know)
Soundflat
(SFR 45-001) 2002
Here is the new 45 by the The Sow
Slushy Boys on Soundflat Records (Hello Lutz!). I personally today like the
Slow Slushy Boys sounds mostly than ever! The garage punk days are past but
the soulbeat days are here! Both tunes on that 45 are GREAT! A side is a soul
blaster with upfront hammond sounds and trumpets! A wild boo-ga-loo! 2nd side
even better! “Here I am in misery, wondering why you left me” are the
first words of “Why (I Want To Know)”, so get that 45 now and wait till you
your man or woman leaves you to play that song loudly and cry over and over
singing along with The Slow Slushy Boys!
