Lady Erna, Duchess of Grunwald Erna is the new Duchess of Grunwald after her father dies at the hands of a band of Theolens. She was given the necklace of Tilsin, the God of War by the king Saladios. She grew up with the Kahless Brothers, her father Thorn being a good friend of the Count of Kahless. Rurik teased Erna as a child while his older brother Bron always came in and stopped Rurik from teasing Erna too far. Her realtionship with Idris is almost nonexistant, as he believes her to be the one to break the curse on the four ladies of Gaia. HEr realtionship with Telis is one yet to be seen. Erna is strong willed and minded, as well as a bit hot tempered. She is, however, incredily insecure of herself, especially after dealing with Rurik. (Thorn had asked Rurik if he wanted to wed Erna and he turned him down knowing she was listening.) When she sees that she is the only one to make things work as they should, she forgets her anxiety over her own shortcomings and gets right to work. A Tomboy for the most part, she does like to dress as a girl and be feminine sometimes. However, she quickly feels wrong in such clothing when she is overlooked and questions herself. She is the first to figure out that the gifts were tainted and is the only one that continually counteracts the effects of the War God Tilsin constantly trying to find a way through her walls. He does this through many means, however, only a certain few have taken effect, one being that she is ineffective as a warrior and lowly compared to the Donateh Princess Cainwen. Her armor and clothing, the long skirted, corsetted blue coat included, are her mother's and her sword is her father's. She is the second oldest of the four. |
Cainwen, Princess of Donateh Cainwen lives in the castle of Lanisor at the far north top of Donateh. She has always been isolated and barely has any social skills except of those she learned as a child. She very psychic and suffers from visions of dead people constantly talking to her, including her deceaced mother. Saladios gives her the amulet of Maletesh, God of Death, in order for her abilities to ceace. However, since the amulet is tainted, like all the other gifts given by Saladios, Cainwen's problem increases to the point where she goes almost completely insane. Idris of the Kahless Four watches her in worry and has loved her since she was much younger, however, Idris has yet to fully be aware of that fact. Cainwen is a princess of the largest continent of Gaia and she knows this. As shy and uncertain as she is, she doesn't hesitate to make it seem as though she is the only one with common sense and brains. However, she does relent when she sees that she is wrong. She is constantly anxious over her own problem of hearing the dead, but gives in very easily to be Death. She doesn't normally wear her crown while traveling, on account that the entire Lanisor army is after Erna for taking Cainwen from her father. (Her father found out that Cainwen's abilities increased after puting on the amulet and started devising a plan against Hecca and the rest of Gaia to make them all his.) She always keeps the scythe in a makeshift pair of loops on the side of her saddle that Erna made when they were far enough away from the castle to take a rest. Thankfully, no one has figured out that the woman with the scythe is Princess of all of Donateh. She is the second youngest of the four. |
Addorloratta, Princess of Illatiosa Addy was born in the city of Illatiosa, not too far from the border of Donateh and Illatios. (Grunwald Forest sits on this border.) When she was a little child, Addy's parents died of a strange disfiguring plague. When she was a little older, her brother and his family died of the same plague. She survied a disease that they say is the same plague, however, she was not disfigured and the only problem she had was terrible health afterward. Saladios gave Addy the Ring of Vernin, the god of health, as a means to protect her health. (A blatant lie as she soon after became ill with a strange sickness that caused lesions to form on her skin and she was forced into a coma when she reached her home in the southern contry Illatios with the aid of Telis. She and Erna are very close friends, Erna being somewhat bossy about Addy taking care of herself about half the time. Erna would come over through the forest at the border and into Illatios to the city where Addy would be to give her a good talking to whenever she caught wind that Addy had caught herself a cold or something from doing something she shouldn't have. Addy, being as close as she is to Erna, also knows how much some things effect Erna and knows that by smiling and being extra friendly, she can pull Erna somewhat out her funk. Addy is a sweet and gentle personality, with a tendency toward being somewhat motherly/older sisterly to Erna. While Erna is somewhat bossy about Addy taking care of herself, Erna is only scared that she might lose her friend. Addy, however, is somewhat bossy toward Erna in a fashion that doesn't get noticed and knows how to keep Erna calm. She is the oldest of the four girls. She wears commoner clothing to keep from being noticed by guards and the like. |
Jaamini, Princess of Hecca Jaamini lives in the north region of Hecca, an island off the East coast of Donateh. She was orphaned when she was a little girl and was crowned just after the funeral of her parents. She has not yet been forced to choose a husband yet, because the crisis of the land has been more important. Jaamini was taught how to fight using twin scycles, a female weapon of choice in Hecca. She was given the bracelet of Ilka, goddess of Harvest by Saladios, which has made her insane. Bron seems very attracted to her and vice versa, however, after letting her off onto her own island, he has yet to see the state she is in now. She is the youngest of all the girls, though looks like the oldest, next to Erna. |
Rurik, Count of Kahless Rurik is one of two middle brothers in the family of the Kahless brothers. He is the second youngest of the four brothers, however, he is the successor to his father. The father of the four brothers died when Rurik was already taking over the position of Count. He is, therefore, the most eyecatching of the four brothers. (Not counting that red hair.) The King of Donateh not only would marry him to Cainwen, his daughter, but the Duke of Grunwald wants him as Erna's husband. However, Rurik turned down taking Erna as his for reasons he said were "because she will likely take my head on the wedding night and stick it on a pike." Because of this and the constant teasing she recieved when she was a child from Rurik, she has a deep seeded anger toward Rurik and is prone to yelling at him. He takes it in stride and find it amusing most of the time. Rurik is a rather jovial man, though a bit of a womanizer. He enjoys women a lot, though not as much as his oldest brother Bron. He takes after his mother in looks and a bit in his demeanor. |
Idris, scholar and scribe to the King of Donateh, mage Idris is the second oldest of the four brothers, and the most serious. He was born reading, reading everything he could get his hands on. He has an incredible memory as well, remembering things about magic and spells as well as facts and trivia. He spends most of his time in libraries, prefering books to that of human company. His brothers tend to tease him about his preference toward books rather than chasing after girls, however, he was the one that found out about the prophecy to end the world and has researched it since. This helps the other three brothers in keeping an eye out for trouble, their family having once been protectors of all of Gaia. He tends to wear the symbol of his family, the mythic bird (a phoenix of thunderbird), on his tunic and is the only brother with long enough hair to pull back into a ponytail. Thus, the oldest tends to call him a woman. |
Bron, Captain in King's Navy Bron is the oldest of the four brothers, as well as the most likely to say something completely inappropriate. Born to work with anything heavy, Bron has always been one to enjoy manual labor. Even though he is high bred, his skin is tanned from years of working out in the sun and being on the water. However, despite his dark complexion, his eyes are as pale as ice and can be somewhat unnerving to those who can't tell that he's usually laughing most of the time instead of glaring. He has a love of voluptuous women and can't stand women with nothing to hold onto and squish, ie twigs. For him, women must be as soft as a man is hard and doesn't waver from this ideal. He enjoys being around Erna because she can hold her own, for the most part, against any one of them if they fought her. He also has taken to Jaamini, talking a great deal about her "backside" and how lovely it is. (He's a big womanizer when he gets the chance.) Bron is the only one that Rurik goes to when he needs advice. Because he is the oldest, he doesn't mind. |
Telis, knight in the army of Donateh Telis the youngest of the four brothers. He is also the most naiive. He doesn't know a lot about women and has a hard time trying to convey his emotions properly, however, he's a step above that of Idris. (He just stutters slightly and eventually gets used to a person, Idris flat out ignores you.) Telis has, however, become very attatched to Princess Addorloratta and goes slightly crazy whenever he can't be around her as long as possible. Since the nurse made him leave Addorloratta's side, he hasn't been able to come back to Illatiosa to continue staying with Addy. When Erna leaves Grunwald, he is made the steward of Grunwald by the king in order to keep the hamlet from going to ruin. He also takes after his mother in looks a little bit. |
Saladios, King of Drasil Little is known about Drasil and it's king. Saladios, however, betrayed a little of his intent when he gave tainted items to the four women of Donateh, Erna, Jaamini, Cainwen, Addoloratta. It is yet to be seen exactly what goes on inside this man's head. |
