RULES A quick guide to roleplay-based soccer management game, GI Soccer |
INTRODUCTION This will be a short, detailed guide to GI Soccer. If you are reading this, chances are you have a brief understanding of how the game works anyway, but please take the following advice seriously before considering becoming a part of the website. I will throw in tips along the way to help you get used to this new gaming experience. THE BOARD The board is the creative canvas in which the GI experience is created. This is where rival managers interact and strike deals and it's where you can roleplay and generally put your input into the game. The rules of the board are quite simple. When you are confirmed as a member you will be given a username and password for the board, always keep the combination to yourself. These are my tips on how you should behave when using the message board.... - When posting, make sure you use your club's name (for example, Aston Villa) never use your own name. - Posting junk like porn or advertising other websites is not encouraged, your posts will be whiped off. - Roleplaying is very much encouraged in the GI, try and contribute as much as you can. - Try and be professional with grammar, spelling and general language, try not to swear too much. - The board is for the game, so if you want to chat or have an arguement, do it elsewhere. - Do not spam up the board with needless requests, if you have a problem - e-mail the owner. - Responding to results or news articles is a great way to contribute to the site. - Avoid putting your e-mail address on the board, unless you like spam. - Never reveal personal details about yourself on the board, in the wrong hands it can be lethal. TEAM SUBMISSION This board is used for submitting your team for fixtures. Every fixture will have a deadline so make you send it before that time (The deadline is usually the day before, so if you have a game on the Saturday, you have to send it before midnight on Friday). If you send your squad and tactics too late, it will be void and you will automatically lose or draw, depending on the opposition. Try and include as much information as you can don't be afraid to edit your squad if your not happy with it. Keep it nice and tidy so I can understand what I'm reading and you don't get mugged off by a small mistake. TRANSFERS / LOANS Just like in real life, you're free to make new signings for your club by making offers on the board. Again I have made a small list of tips about transfers and loans.... - There are no transfer windows in the GI, you're free to make as many bids as you like. - Try and stay within your money limits as being in debt has its disadvantages. - When making a bid, try and be polite. Put the players name and price you wish to offer. - To sell a player or a group of players, just make a list with prices (or without) and you will be approached. - Once a deal is "Accepted" the deal is complete and theres no going back, you cannot reverse it. - You're allowed to sign as many players as you want but try and keep your squad a sensible size. - You're allowed to loan up to ten players at a time. - You can release players on free transfers, a compensation fee has to be paid if you release them during the season. - You can release players for free during the off-season. - As a reverse, you can sign a free agent for £0 if theres no interest from any other club. - You cannot call up random players that play for club in real life (like youngsters or reserves) - Players that don't have a club in the GI will be auctioned on the board occasionally. MONEY / DEBT You have to be sensible with your money in the GI, because if you go into debt it will affect your performances and results. Be smart with the tips I've provided you with.... - When you start in the GI, I will tell you how much money you have and any past information about your club. - When you go into debt, I expect you to try and get out of it as quickly as possible. - If you are in debt, your performances will be affected. - Prize money is always available at the end of the season, the higher you finish the more you get. - Theres no caps on how much you can spend on any individual player. - There are no fines in the GI or deducted points for things like suspensions or your poor behaviour. - Your money is always displayed on the Finances page, if thats not updated, ask me. PLAYER CONTRACTS Each player in the GI will have a contract. The contract is basically a sum of money the manager has to pay out of his budget at the end of the season for the player's services. All the contracts will be added up and the manager will be required to make a bulk payment for his squad at the end of every campaign. There are three different types of player contract in the GI. There is the BRONZE contract, the SILVER contract and the GOLD contract. The BRONZE will belong to your basic Premiership player. Players who are on a BRONZE contract will cost just £20,000 per season. Players on the SILVER contract are much more established and well known players. They will cost £50,000 a season for the club. GOLD contracts are rare and only used for superstars of the game. A player on a GOLD contract would cost £100,000 a season. There are no contract renewals in the GI but if a player is released mid-season his contract would have to be paid in compensation. The best time to release unwanted players would be the period at the start of a new season. There will be a time period in between the season ending and new season beginning where you can release players with no cost. To make it clear, if a player is on your squad at the end of the season, you will pay his contract regardless of how long you have owned him. If you sell a player then their contract is no longer your responsibility. CONTINENTAL The continental page is a brand new feature within GI Soccer. It gives clubs from outside the GI, namely European and domestic clubs, the chance to sign players that are contracted to GI teams. The interest from the continent will usually be displayed first on the Continent page and a bid will then be made on the message board. There is no negotiation, you must either accept or reject the offer made to you for your player. MANAGERS When a new member joins a club, they have the option to either stick with or change their current manager. For example, if a new member was to take over Manchester United, they could either announce their arrival as a new manager or continue on with Sir Alex Ferguson. A great way to get noticed in the GI is to unveil a brand new manager at a club, but it's optional. Current members will not have the power to replace their manager of their own accord. The only way a manager of an existing club can be replaced is if the GI Admin intervene and make the change. For example, if Arsenal hit some terrible form, the GI could decide to sack Arsene Wenger, giving the Arsenal manager an opportunity to choose a replacement. If your manager is sacked, you will be notified and you will be asked to find a replacement. The longer you spend without a manager, the worse your team will play. Results will be affected if you do not have a manager at the helm. COMPETITIONS There are two Divisions within the GI Soccer organisation. Division One (D1), being the higher of the two and Division Two (D2) being the lower of the two. Both divisions consist of 12 clubs each and each club play each other just once, meaning the season is only 11 games long. At the end of every season, the bottom three of D1 will be relegated to D2 and the top three of D2 will be promoted to D1. As of this date (18/02/08) there are no plans to bring in a Division Three. The only other competition in the GI is the GI Cup. Its a knockout competiton which consists of the 24 GI clubs and 8 other random computer generated clubs. The competition will take place at completey random times and will last for a few weeks before a winner is found. At this moment, there are no immediate plans to bring in a new cup competiton.
