JUAN PABLO ANGEL CENTRAL COAST MARINERS When the GI franchise started around two years ago, Juan Pablo Angel was one of the first men on the move. The Colombian striker wasted no time in leaving Aston Villa for Watford in a £3,500,000 deal. Following a quiet spell at Vicarage Road, Angel joined Southampton in a £1,000,000 deal. After another breif stint, MLS side Kansas City Wizards came calling and landed him in another £1,000,000 transfer. Since then, Angel has quit the MLS and joined Australian A-League outfit Central Coast Mariners. |
JIMMY FLOYD HASSELBAINK RACING SANTANDER Veteran striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink returned to Spain in August 2007, sealing a £1,000,000 move from Coventry City. Not long after the GI had started, Charlton Athletic released so the Dutchman and he was snapped up by Fulham. After failing to impress at Craven Cottage, he sealed a £2,500,000 move to Coventry City. During his tenure, he scored nine goals in S1 for both Fulham and City. Hes also been banging in the goals for Racing and is still on their books. In his first season for the club, he scored a total of fourteen goals including a shock winner against Barcelona at the Camp Nou. |
LEON OSMAN WERDER BREMEN Leon Osman quit Blackburn to join Werder Bremen in a £3,000,000 deal last February. Following his release from Everton, Blackburn were quick to snap up the midfielder on a free. Osman failed to break into the first team so when the Werder Bremen offer came along, Rovers couldn't refuse. The player has been a success in the Bundesliga and has recently been linked with a big money move to Atletico Madrid. |
FERNANDO MORIENTES MARSEILLE Fernando Morientes was a suprise £5,000,000 purchase for Marseille back in May. Its thought the return to France interested Morientes, after the spell he had with Monaco several years ago. The Spanish star was originally a £3,000,000 signing for Watford, after he left Valencia. He bagged sixteen goals for the Hornets and helped them win the D2 title in S3. |
LUIS FIGO JUVENTUS Juventus splashed out £5,000,000 to sign Tottenham midfielder Luis Figo back in August. The Portuguese star has so far failed to live up to expectations in Turin. Despite scoring on his debut against Parma, the former Real Madrid and Inter ace has struggled with injuries. Spurs picked up Figo for £3,000,000 from Inter back in S1. During his stint at White Hart Lane, Figo bagged five goals for the club and became a fan favourite. |
