Havlat Receives two game suspension

(Jan 2)- TSN.ca is reporting that Ottawa Senators' star left winger Martin Havlat has been suspended two games due to kicking New York Islanders defenseman Eric Cairns when the two teams faced off Wednesday night.

About half way through the 3rd period of the New York Islanders, Ottawa Senators game, winger Martin Havlat kicked Eric Cairns in front of the Islanders' net.

No penalty was given on the play, but the NHL went under review and decided a two game suspension would be assessed.

Sportsnet.ca released the following:

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, Havlat forfeits salary based on the number of days in a season (180). He will forfeit $16,666.66

Havlat will miss games against both the Washington Capitals and Tampa Bay Lightning.
