The right place for your cockatiel

If your cockatiel is to feel comfortable and safe, it needs a space adequate cage set in a permanent place.

The best place for a cockatiel's cage
The best place for the bird is the living room of your household. This is so, since your cockatiel can see it's family members and get aquainted with them. The cage should be placed in a bright corner right next to a window. The corner should not be cluttered with other stuff. But, consider that the corner should be far away enough to people passing by the cage, so they wouldn't scare your new, shy cockatiel. If possible, you could use furniture not too tall as a cage stand. You could also use a shelf, but this specific shelf should be mounted safely, somewhat vibration-free, and at eye level. If a bird can see people's faced it would lose it's shyness quickly, and get to know people's faces in the family. The space above the cage should be free because birds fear anything object above their heads.

IMPORTANT: The place for the cage must be absolutly draft-free. Even, slight drafts can make a cocktiel sick. You can light a candle and use the flame to find drafts and air movements we are unaware of.

Unsuitable locations
A spot directly in front of a window: In the winter too much cold enters and hot in the summer.
