WHITE This color has several variations; so WHITE is not always white in the world of 'chilla! WILSON WHITE, pure white - White all over with black eyes, very few dark hairs and no patches of gray. The first Wilson White was discovered in 1955. MOSAIC, Patchwork - which is white with grey patches on the head, body and tail base OR gray with white patch work. Most lighten from birth color. These pics are the same chin from birth to young adulthood. You will most likely see more mosaics then any other white. The variety in markings is very wide but REALLY great!! A chin that is gray with white markings maybe referred to as a reverse mosaic. SILVER - which is an even mixture of grey outer coat and white under coat. These appear similar to std gray when newborn. This can also be seen when white is mated to Ebony. (Dominate) White carries a fatal gene, as described in the Black Velvet section, and can not exist in the homozygous form. White bred to gray will create 50% gray and 50% white, in some phase (see above). Breeding white to white is not recommended and is not done by serious committed breeders. PINK WHITE - Combines beige and white genes. Some can have more beige shading and are identified as golden mosaic, beige mosaic or if they carry homo beige, cream mosaic. BLACK WHITE CROSS or Cross with a Black Velvet and a white. The colouring may have black patches, and should have black stripes or "wrist bands" on the forepaws BROWN WHITE CROSS Cross of Brown Velvet and a White. This animal has pink ears, ruby eyes and may have beige patches and brown stripes on the forepaws. (same as PW- BV cross). Homozygous Beige White Cross This animal is a cross with a Pink White and a Homozygous Beige. It is creamy to blue white, with pink ears, but the eyes are the same as a Homozygous Beige, a very pink, not dark ruby in color. Soon ~ more on the recessive white gene. |
