My lovely Campbell's Russian Dwarf Hamsters |
These are NOT winter white hamsters, siberian hamsters, chinese hamsters or syrian hamsters. I specialize in fancy colored CAMPBELL's Russian dwarf hamsters- crdh or RDH I have been raising these little creatures for over 8 years, and have almost every color available. I have acquired new stock from other states, I work to keep my lines fresh and my pedigrees known for each mating. |

The biggest draw back in most hamster lines is with the breeders themselves. These smaller hamsters are often allowed to inbreed by inexperienced keepers, little or no care is given to whether proper line records are kept. Defects are sometime perpetuated just to multiply the numbers, either unintentually or otherwise. While I believe these are one of the nicest and most colorful of all dwarf hamsters, there could be more education provided for those that are involved in breeding future generations. I am willing to aid in this goal when ever possible, so feel free to contact me if you need more information. You can get on the waiting list for my book! Or visit other links I have gathered. I am always happy to help! |
INBREEDING - In itself may not be all bad if done by a seasoned breeder using well known lines. This is what Linda of AAA Hamstery has to say on the subject. |
I have combined RDH from 5 states to obtain new colors and blood lines. The most recent was BEA genes from the QCA, BEA combined genes & black gene stock from Rockford IL and before that, Texas. My original lines were females from Iowa and males from Wisconsin. Later I blended these with the lines of another local breeder, then adding new stock out of Arkansas. With this new addition we were the first in the state to have mottled, satin and argente genes. I later brought new stock out of St. Louis to again rejuvenate the lines, plus others from further points within Iowa. The other local breeder has new blood from Illinois, and I am working with two other breeders in IL, too. I plan a trip to the southern states sometime to see what I can add to the lines. |
