Corporation Eyes Only

"Send out the Solos!"

DM-Corp Memo

From: DM-Corp Head Office.
To: All Operations, Treasury, and Programming staff.
Subject: Profit realisation and netrunner eradication.

Profit is the bottom line. But to make the eurobucks we gotta push our Agendas. And keep them safe from those thieving Runners - maybe even flatline a few in the process. That'll teach 'em.

But what Agendas are the best ones to pursue? A simple Main Office Relocation is relatively cheap and has many benefits. Realising a Corporate Boon is a bit more expensive, but very handy in the long run, while a Detroit Police Contract always comes in handy for the cash-flow situation, as does a Marine Arcology. While a Tycho Expansion represents the best immediate value-for-money, an On-Call Solo Team can be useful in taking out Runners.

To keep the Runners out of our systems, we'll need some Ice. While simple Walls and Code Gates like Data Wall or Filter can keep out a Runner with limited Icebreaking options, we'll want something tougher like a Fire Wall or Keeper to drain their resources. Maybe something tricky, along the lines of a Ball and Chain.

Sentries, however, are what most Runners are afraid of. With good cause too, with the likes of Cerberus, Zombie, and Liche at our disposal. Mastiff amd Code Corpse round out the readily available selection of strong AP Black Ice. If we want to give the Runners a hard time at home, Homewrecker and Cinderella are designed to do just that. Cheaper Sentries can be useful too, with Banpei being bad news for any underequipped Runners. Hound Sentries like Canis Minor and Major, and others like Neural Blade or Jack Attack can cause chaos when layered over the heavier Ice. Middling strength Sentries like Bolter Cluster and Data Darts can also be useful. And if we feel like doing some meat damage, we can't forget tracers like Fetch 4.0.1 and Hunter.

We run on eurobucks, though. All that Ice can also protect Advertisements like BBS Whispering Campaign, Holovid Campaign, and Rockerboy Promotion, all designed to make us easy money. If that's not enough, we can get our Department of Truth Enhancement to do some Information Laundering for us. We also have one-shot Operations like collecting on our Accounts Receivable and using our Efficiency Experts to help pull the cash in.

We can also sprinkle Ambushes through our systems. Let a Runner hit a Setup! and watch him think twice before running again. Even better, try an advanced Virus Test Site or Vacant Soulkiller, guaranteed to spoil a Runner's day. There's nothing as satisfying as making a Runner work hard to fry his own brain.

System Upgrades are useful to keep our Agendas even safer than Ice alone. Red Herrings should be sprinkled liberally around otherwise lightly defended Agendas, and a Bizarre Encryption Scheme will make them even harder for any Runner to steal. And we can always have the Sysop Turbeau Delacroix to trace any Runner bold enough to tempt fate, or a Dedicated Response Team to follow up and rearrange the Runner's face.

Finally, there are several Operations we can employ when necessary. Calling the staff in for a Night Shift will generally realise some fast profits. Team Restructuring, Systematic Layoffs, and a Management Shake-Up will get our people working on those Agendas faster. Hopefully anything we lose can be recovered from our Off-Site Backups. Better still, we can load a Trojan Horse into any Agendas that get stolen, or make use of a Chance Observation, then lay into the Runner with some timely Urban Renewal. Flatline City.

Now let's get out there and make life Hell for those Runners.

Memo ends.
