Cause and Effect by Keshava |
I totally agree with Rowan (Morals and Ethics Re-defined by Rowan) that the rede is something that a lot of Wiccans look to as a kind of shield. “A Wiccan would never do that. We follow the rede.” I most definitely believe we should do good for it’s own sake but I still believe in karma. To me karma is a cause and effect, a kind of science. One of the first things you learn in school is like things are drawn together. It even works for people. If your a thief the odds are so are your friends. If your a good person and respect those around you as with the thief your friends are going to be much like you. How does this effect karma? Well back to our thief. His best friend is just like him. Looking out for himself and not caring who gets in the way of what he wants. Sooner or later the effect of hanging with thieves is your going to get robed. There is another part to karma that most people never seem to stop and look at, perspective. Lets say your car just died out side of a gas station at night. You have no change and the place is closed. So you can’t even call for help. A person comes by and you ask them for some change for the phone. They hand you what you need and walk away not even thinking about it. To them it was just some lose change. To you it was a gift from the gods. Now back to our thief and his bad karma. To him taking someone's things is not that bad. Their just things right? Untill someone takes something from him. The word has crashed in on him. “How could this happen to me.” Cause and effect, you play with matches you will get burned. Karma is not some great magical force with a lightning bolt about to stick you down. It is simply the cause of your actions. |
