Diary of a Green Witch |
Entry 1 - December 2nd, 2003 - Yeah I haven't written in a few days. I really didnlt feel like it. I didn't have anything to say either. If fact, I really don't have much to say today as well, lol. Except that I scheduled my classes today. I'm only taking 4 classes, and I dont have any on friday which is nice. I tried scheduling it so I would only go on mondays and wednesdays, but it wouldn't work out. Thats what I get for procrastinating. Hmm....What else...Og yeah. I got that book in themail the other day. Its called 'The Magickal Life' by Vivianne Crowley. Now, there is rarely a book these days that catches my attention and gets me to read every word. This is one such book! Its about magic, and I usually don't buy books on magic, but I'm glad I bought this one! |
It's really good. Her other book 'Wicca' is a bit dry and hard to understand, but this book is easy to read, fun, interesting and informative. She teaches the basics of all types of magic and gives tons of examples of personal experiences. She talks about being a teen witch and her first Wiccan group, as well as her first rituals and psychic experiences. I didn't want to put it down, but I was really, really tired, lol. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to learn magic. Its really that great. So anyway, I bought 'The Pirates of the Carribbean' DVD. Who could resist? Johnny Depp AND Orlando Bloom in one movie! I had to buy it. Plus its a cute movie, its made by Disney, so what would you expect? Ok, time to go eat something. -Rowan |
Entry 2 - December 5nd, 2003 - Yea! Shopping tomorrow! I have a whole lotta money that I'm planning on spending too, lol. I'm gonna go to Borders or Barnes and Noble and buy some books...I haven't really bought any books in the past few months...ok, well I have but I want more. Thats all I'm asking for for Christmas. Books and some house plants. I like to fill my room up with plants, it makes it feel more alive and energized. I have to work at 3:30 today, and for once I'm not dreading it. Weird..... |
I decorated my altar for Yule the other night. It looks beautiful. I need a new digital camera that takes better pictures. They always turn out crappy...I wish it would capture how the altar really looks, with the subtle shadows and light...but it doesn't, so I do my best. This was actually taken in the dark with candles lit, but the flash ruines it, and with the flash off its way too dark. |
Yep. Well I'm off, gotta go update the site! -Rowan |
Entry 3 - December 7th, 2003 - Ok, quick entry, gotta get ready for work, like any minute. Lsast nite we went shopping! I bought 5 new books - Green Witchcraft II by Ann Moura, a Grimoire of Shadows by Ed Fitch, Spirit of the Witch by Raven Grimassi, the Sabbats by Edain ,McCoy and Living the Old Ways, or something like that (I'm in a hurry no time for remebering these things!) by The Campanelli's (ok that name is spelled wrong!) and the new 2004 Witches Calendar and 2 magazines - PagGaia and New Witch - two great pagan magazines. |
The girl at the counter looked familiar and she started talking about the books I was buying and how they were good books and our conversation somehow ended up talking about the Open Circle I went to a few months ago and she said was there! No wonder she looked familiar, lol. Small world. Lets see, oh, I bought some real cedar, juniper, holly and pine boughs today at a green house. I just stopped by to look at their house plants and was pleasantly surprised that they had all that. The little old man who owns it is so cute. He gave me and my mom cookies and mulled cider, and this fall he gave us some tasty apples to try and every St. Patricks day he dresses up as a lepracaun (can't spell that either) and gave us green bagels, lol! He's so sweet, and his green house is amazing! Nobody really goes there, it tucked away in the country but I go there to buy a lot of my plants, just to give him the business because I don't think he gets much. I used the greens top re-decorate my altar, seeing I had some fake stuff on it, now its all real! Alrighty, time to go before I'm late. - Rowan |
Entry 4 - December 11th, 2003 -Yes, I've been a bad diary writer. I want to update, really I do, but it seems I don't have the time. But I do have time today!!! I'm pretty happy. Only one more day of school, one more class. Then I have to come back next week for 2 finals, but they should be easy. Then I have 4 weeks for Christmas break. Yep, I'll be able to lay around all day and do nothing if I wish, lol. I really wish it would snow, this is just getting bizarre. We should have a ton of snow by now, but we don't. I wasnt to go out in the woods and take some pics of the trees with snow on their branches - I love that. |
I'm also excited about wednesday, The Return of the King comes out! I'm super excited. Me and my friend Malory and going to order some pizza, get comfy and watch the first two, then go see the last one. I watched a behind the scenes thing on the return of the king on 20/20 the other night, which made me even more excited. I'm in the mood to rearrange my room. But its too much work. I want to re-arrange my bookshelves too, I get in that mood every once-in-awhile. Fur out of the five books I bought sat. night were suppose to be for Christmas, but I've been sneaking them upstairs to read, lol, I found them useful when I was trying to write the Yule page. I'm going to start reading "Spirit of the Witch" soon....its suppose to be pretty good. Tomorrow I'm going to add my bumper sticker to my car. It says "Give me that old-time Religion" and it has a pentacle, a chalice and an athame on it. I forgot to put it on this summer when I got the car. I have a really pretty pentacle sticker on the back window, I remembered that one. I just hope I don't get my tires slashed or windows broken for it. -Rowan |
Entry 5 - December 11th, 2003 - Stupid work! I go in today and look at the schedule and see that I have to work thursday, but I can't because I have my Anthropology final at the time they want me to come in! So I told my boss and he gets all pissy and acts like he doesn't believe me! "I don't know what kind of school you go to, but everyone else gets out on tuesday." Yeah well ya know what, this is the class I take through my school at a different school, and the finals are at different times. So he moved me, but now I have to work on wednesday, so that means I can't go see The Return of the King! Needless to say I'm pissed. I also have to work an extra day this week and I have to work 9 hours tomorrow, when usually I only have to work 6. Yeah....I'm pissed. |
Yeah and on top of all that, my chair just broke so now I'm kneeling in front of the computer typing and my knees hurt. I am NOT having a good day. Alrighty.....calm down Julie. Just had to get that out. Hmmm....In other news, it finally snowed! I actually had to go brush off snow from my car! I'm excited because we're suppose to get up to a foot of snow on sunday, which means that hopefully nobody will come into work and if there is a football game, then nobody will really come in. That makes me happy. I'm also happy because I won a book from ebay today. Its called The Winter Solstice by John Mathews. I was going to buy it last saturday, but it was too expensive. I got it from ebay for $8.75, plus $2.25 shipping, so in all $11.00. Yeah for ebay! -Rowan |
Entry 6 - December 14th, 2003 - I bitch too much, so I won't go into the details on how the schedule at work was changed and now I have to work 40 hours this week, every single day, except thursday, and how I have a blister on my foot and everytime I take a step it hurts like hell and how the stupid customers at work keep asking me stupid questions and never let me do my work and how my room is too freckin cold and that I didn't study for my final exam in math tomorrow because I was too busy and how I'm so tired I could have fell asleep standing up today. Nope, I wont talk about any of that. |
But I will talk about the pipe ceremony I went to tonight! My mom's friend Nadine is a pipe carrier in .....ok I'm not too sure what it is, maybe the Bear Tradition? or something.....in easy terms, she practices a native American religion, as well as a little bit of other things. She's very ecclectic, I think I heard Jesus mentioned and she had a sweat shirt on that said 'If you want a taste of religion, lick a witch." So there was a bit of everything thrown in, which was nice because we all came from different paths. So anyway, on the Full Moons she's having these circles (yeah I know were a bit late, lol, its the thought that counts). There were only four of us tonight, well five including her daughter, the weather was really crappy so the lady who was suppose to do the full moon ritual couldn't make it, and most of the others live a little while away. But it was really neat, there are similarities to Paganism and differences. She sang and played the drum then we passed around the pipe. Nobody but Nadine smoked it though, lol. It was funny, because you hold the bottom part with one hand, and the long part with the other. I was so nervous I was going to hold it wrong, lol. We just said some prayers and since she's also a medium, she gave us some messages and such. Afterwards we had some tea and cookies and talked. I had a good time, but that path isn't for me. I will go to the other circles, but I can't see myself studying it or anything. My heart lies in Paganism :) - Rowan |
Entry 7 - December 16th, 2003 - I ordered the book 'Witch' by Fiona Horne on ebay the other night. I got it for 5 bucks, so I thought why not? I would never have bought it at the store though, lol. So who's going top see 'The Return of the King' tomorrow? I'm not! Yeah unfortunatly. It really blows, but maybe if I have saturday of I will. I have to go back into work tonight to buy some tea light candles. We have them at $4 for 100 tea lights. I already bought a bag, but I figured for that price I'd buy some more. |
We made a bet with my boss last week that if we clear out the back room (which is damn near inpossible, it hasn't been done in months) by monday night, he would have to wear a dress to work and shave his head. Well we did it, so now he's gotta do it. We even picked a dress out for him, its red with little flowers on it. We had to get a 3X because he's so big, he's 6 feet and five inches. Yeah, it was funny today. He came out of the back room with the dress on and pranced around the store for a minute. Everyone in the place was watching him. God it was funny. He kept telling everyone that he lost a bet so thats why he is wearing it. Good 'ol times at Dollar General, too bad I wont be there much longer, muwhahahahahaha!! -Rowan |
Entry 8 - December 18th, 2003 - Yeah! I went to see 'The Return of The King' today! It was amazing, the best one yet. If it doesn't win any awards, I'd be shocked. I cried, lol! especially at the end.....I'm really emotional when I watch movies. We thought it started at 10:00, but it didn't start till noon, so we had to wait, which sucked. Then right after me and my friend went to take our final exam in anthropolgy. I didn't get to study either, after the movie we were gonna go home and study, but since it started later than we thought, we didn't have any time to go home. |
I'm so screwed. I'm broke but I still have to buy christmas gifts. I know what I need to buy, but I need money. I guess I shouldn't have bought all those books from ebay, lol. Oh, and I also just bought the 2004 Magickal Almanac, probably shouldn't have bought that either. At least I have my mom's gifts. I still need to get my little brother's and my step mom's gifts before sunday when we're going over there for dinner. Blah. I'm bored. I feel like doing something crafty, but I don't know what. I think I want to change my room around, and take back my old bed. Me and my sister switched beds because I wanted the smaller one, but its so damn uncomfortable, I want my big one back. I think I'll do that before she comes home and protests against it. Oh shit. I forgot my cousin wants me to spend the night at her dorm....argh...too many things to do. -Rowan |
Entry 9 - December 20th, 2003 - Well I finished with my christmas shopping today. I bought way too much for my little brother, lol. Then I came home and wrapped everything and later me and my mom made cookies and I strung cranberries for the Yule Tree and also made some bird treats and hung them outside for the birds. Tomorrow we're going to my step-mom's house for christmas. I can't wait, she's making this dessert called Chocolate Slush - its sooo good! I've been craving it for weeks now. |
This year we're having Christmas Eve at our house. The family comes over, we open presents, eat and all that good stuff. We usually have it at my grandparents house, but they moved 2 years ago and live in a small appartment, so theres not a lot of room. So now I've really been decorating. I brought down the Yule Log and set it on the table, and the other day I found a wreath in a parking lot, so I decorated that and hung it up. Yeah we were at Copy Boy or some thing and there was this real pine wreath in the parking lot. I had no idea where it came from, so I told myself if nobody came to get it before my mom came out, I was going to take it. Finders keepers, eh? -Rowan |
Entry 10 - December 22nd, 2003 - Happy Yule everyone! Of course I had to work today, but later tonight I've got a a ritual planned. Hmm...I don't really have much to say...I'm quite bored and will probably go join some webrings or something. I dunno... Oh wait, maybe I'll go to ebay. I'm in the mood to buy some books. For Christmas I'm getting gift certificates to bookstores, and I can't wait! |
I just finished 'Spirit of the Witch' by Raven Grimassi last night. It was pretty good, not as good as I hoped but it had some really good information and thoughts in it. I'm still waiting for my books from ebay to come in. I can't even remember what I ordered! I know 'Witch' by Fiona Horne, but I can't remember the other one! I guess I'll find out when it arrives. Last night we went to my stepmom's for Christmas. I got these really neat candle things, the flames burn different colors, like one of them has a green flame, a purple and pink flame. They're pretty cool. I thought they would be neat to use in ritual. -Rowan |
