This craft is rather simple, yet I felt I should make a page about it....just because its fun to do! (In case you haven't noticed, I like to paint things) I'm writing this about two weeks before Samhain, and I'm in a fall-kind-of-mood. I bought some pumpkins and wanted to carve them but its a bit to early, so I decided to paint them instead.
I decided to paint this one with a triple Goddess sign and put it outside on the porch. I thought it was a good sign for Samhain because some Wiccans see Samhain as the end of the year, the Goddess has seen all her aspects - Maiden in spring, Mother in summer and now Crone in the fall. The goddess sign was appropriate because it shows all the phases the Goddess has gone through this past year.
Of course, there are all kinds of things you could paint on them. I used acrylic paints, and they worked pretty good, although the lighter colors needed two coats.
Thats about iot for this craft, juts find an image or symbol and paint it on a pumpkin. Its that simple! You could also paint on gourds. This is a good alternative to carving pumpkins and adds color and spiritual meaning to plain, ordinary pumpkins! |
