Yule Wreath |
Supplies: 1 Artificial Pine Wreath Colored Ribbon (any color) Nuts, Pinecones, Cinnamon Sticks, Acorns, Bay Leaves, Fake Fruit, Berries, etc. Hot Glue Gun and Glue Sticks Wood Stain and Varnish (optional) |
This is another simple project that uses natural and inexpensive objects to make a beautiful decoration for Yule. I bought the artificial pine wreath for $3, the ribbon for $2, the cinnamon sticks for $1 the berries for $2 and the bay leaves for $2. The rest of the things, like the acorns and pinecones I found outside. The first thing I did was stain the pinecones, walnuts and acorns. The reason being is that I wanted them to be a darker color and I wanted them to be shinny, so I also gave them a coat of polyurathaine. After they dry, you can then start the wreath. First take the ribbon and wrap it around the wreath, not too tight though. The ribbon should be 'Yule' colors, like mine above is gold and red. The glue the pinecones and walnuts to the wreath, spacing them evenly around the wreath. Next add the acorns and berries, then slip in some cinnamon sticks under the pinecones and other things already on the wreath. Then take some of the berries and stick them in. After that, glue in the bay leaves - they can either all go one way, or put them sporadically here and there. There! Your done with your Yule Wreath! If you want to do one thats different than mine, think of a theme and go from there. Maybe you like fruits and nuts - you can use those things in the wreath instead of pinecones, and maybe you like blues and purples instead of the traditional green and red colors, you could do a wreath with those colors instead. If your not too sure what you want to use, take a walk around a craft store and see what they have in their wreath making supplies. Usually they will have a holiday section with all kinds of things to use in crafts. You're sure to find something inspiring for your Yule wreath! |
